It seems like folks never really get this down to how to make it work.
Backstory..our last cruise, pre smart phone but with a cell phone, I was able to easily add a code into the phone and send a receive texts for a nominal fee. Worked great. Went to Mexico in November..called Verizon and asked for a step by step guide on how to do the same thing on that trip. Did not work at all..code didn't enter, all the little settings didn't excatly match up between what I was told to do and what my phone offered, and the only way I could do what I wanted to do was hook into the resort's spotty wifi once in awhile. Here comes another cruise.
1) can I set it up to do the texts only feature and how? (since my call to Verizon didn't work last time, thought I'd check here)
2) how does the on ship texting folks on the ship feature work and how might it tie in with off ship texting..or not
3) will be in Vancouver before and after. How to set that up to work?
4) when in Alaska will phone automatically search for US signal or how do I switch back and forth?
5) how about the ship wifi packages? is that needed for text only? Would it be better to just use a table with the wifi plan to keep in touch outside of US ports?

The pay per text thing really worked great the last time, so wish it would this time as well. I'm sure all of you have a lot of experience with this and hope you'll share.
Thanks!
