We bought DVC a little over 3 years ago while on vacation with our DS, his GF,our DD and her BF. We were pretty sure at the time this would be our family. Fast forward to today-2 engagements ,2 weddings and 5 DVC trips including this Friday-10/20-27 with my DB, SIL, niece 8 and nephew 5, to SSR. We are also going to OKW in Jan (just us) and are in the early planning stage of a Vero vac. in Oct.2007. Any way this week we found out that we are going to be grandparents!!!!!!Our daughter is expecting. Not to excited right as you can see from the time on my post! Now my mind is working on planning when we will first bring our grandbaby to our favorite place on earth. This is why we bought DVC!!!! Can't wait and let the planning begin!

What a WONDERFUL post/story to wake up to! Congratulations ... the prospect of a new grandbaby is delightful all by itself; getting to plan for the next generation of Disney magic makes is extra-special!!!

Hurray for all of you...congrats, congrats, congrats!

Congratulations!! Wonderful news.

My son is getting married next May. My DIL2B just told me that he wants her to get pregnant not long after. I told her I think they should wait a little while BUT it really does excite me. And yes, my first thought was Disney trips too.

DH and I were actually talking about what kind of Disney grandparents we'll be on our last trip while watching other families.

What a great story, we are going down for our FIRST trip since our purchase and love to hear that we made the right decision. When I read things like this I can't help but think we did. Our boys are still young but we all know how fast time goes by and hopefully our sons and families will also enjoy DVC in the future. All the Best!

I know what you mean. As a kid my parents took our family of 6 there every year in April. We always stayed at Fort Wilderness. I have many fond memories. My father would always say that he couldn't wait to take his granchildren someday.

The sad part, he never got to. He passed 6 years before any grandchildren were born. The good news, I have kept the tradition of the April trip to WDW with my own family. We are there every year on his birthday and I know he is with us in spirit. This year my mother, brother and his family will be joining us. Now I have to work on the other 2 brothers. :teeth:

WDW is a place to make memories that last a lifetime. I love that my father made a family trip to WDW a priority. It was probably hard to come up with the$$ every year, but it was important to him.

:wizard: Here's to many more WDW trips with your family
Congratulations on your future grandbaby :teeth:

Time does fly when it comes to kids. My 11 year old was asking just yesterday when we would no longer own dvc at Disney, I told her we would be bringing her kids for quite awhile before that .

Cost of DVC = 150 points
Cost of AP = $100.00 discount
Cost of family memories = PRICELESS

no kiddie = no grandkiddie's, but ....

I do have a greatniece and we are taking her in 26 short days. She will be 16 months old then so there will be plenty more trips coming her way. She may end up with our SSR/VB points as well!!

And when I first laid my eyes on her, I thought, "I can't wait to take you to Disney World."

It is a wonderful feeling to be able to share the joy and happiness with others!

Congratulations!!! Grandchildren are 1 reason we decided to buy DVC. Of course we don't have any(come on DSs-get married and get me grandkids)but one day!!!! In the meantime,my 12 yo DD loves Disney as does her mama.

Congrats...we're going through the same things in our family. DS is expecting our first grandchild in Dec. and our DD was just married last month. We're taking our 6 year old niece in April 07 and we are planning a very large extended family trip in the Fall 2008.

Hope all your future trips bring you wonderful memories.

Thanks for all of your wonderful replies! To say we are over the moon would be an understatement! I spoke to my daughter about maybe going Veteren's weekend 2008 ,the baby will be 18 months then!!!!!Our daughter and sil are both teachers so it will be tough during the school year but I am sure we'll get lots of Disney time in in the next 50 years. LOL

As in the old Kodak attraction's song, DVC is all about "Makin' memories......."! :goodvibes

Wedding, more weddings, Babies!!!

Wow - something to think about next time we are asked if DVC is a cost-saving measure :)

Congrats!

Congratulations!

Yes, we also share our DVC with family and friends and we also love to enjoy it as a couple.

We bought a DVC resale when our first granddaughter was three, and a second was on the way. We've since taken the kids - sometimes with their parents sometimes without - on seven WDW trips, one HHI trip and a DCL cruise. In fact, we're leaving Saturday for another one, spending nine nights in an OKW GV. DW and I love it as much as we ever did, and everyone else does too!

You will love being a grandparent; it's the best job there is! The kids are always happy to see us, I spoil and pamper them, and if disciplining is needed, I give them back to their parents. It's great! :joker:
