I told that to my friend, and she tried on Wednesday when we had an extra long day. She said she didn't feel any more wide awake. Then again, she ate one at lunchtime instead of straight after she woke up.
I so need to eat apples in the morning then. Waking up at 6:00 am every morning really gets to you. I always want to fall asleep in 1st period... especially because we never do anything in there, just talk.
