So Florida and this includes Disney is a rainy wonderland :umbrella: this week with all the tropical activity. They are not calling it a named Tropical Storm yet. What are your best Disney in the Rain tips and advice for someone who is vacationing this week? Mine: I wouldn't use the skyliner since there is thunderstorms, I would definately resort hop to the bigger resorts if you can. I would do Disney Springs as you can duck in and out of stores fairly quickly, I would try and duck in rides like Pirates of the Caribbean, Remy's Ratatouille ride, Haunted Mansion, Carousel of Progress, Small World, Peter Pan or others with an interesting but long wait queue since it's raining - who cares?! Check out stores at Epcot that you haven't been in before. Hang out in Morrocco Annual Passholder lounge for a bit (if you're an AP).

Well, to be honest, there are 'rain tips', and then there is RAIN. Not much you can do if they're getting some of those downpours and storms, but get wet. On the bright side, it'll keep most of the crowds down! So a good rain coat/poncho, and a good place to dry your stuff when you get back to the room to change!

Sure hope it eases up a bit for some there now. Looking at radar at this very moment, there's a lot of yellow and orange on the Florida radar today.

We're arriving tomorrow for our honeymoon..womp womp..

I've got an 8 week old surgical wound and wasn't planning on being soaking wet (just kinda sweaty).

Do the resorts sell the heavy ponchos? All I have is the .99 disposable ones.

Congratulations on your Honeymoon! 💒 I think most resort stores should have ponchos or at least be able to point you in the right direction. The parks have them in the gift shops for sure. 👍

Last time we were at Disney I saw someone with a Disney poncho on and a visor over the hood to keep rain off their face which also kept the hood from blowing off.

Definitely going to try that next time!

Have they fixed the flooding problems in Hollywood Studios yet? We were there 5 years ago and it was several inches of water in that park. You couldn't walk without getting your feet soaked. It was horrible! I used to work there when it first opened and it never flooded like that. I don't know if they did something when Galaxy's Edge was added to case the drainage issues. If going to Hollywood Studios, wear crocs and bring extra socks.

That happened to us too. Although, Epcot seems to have a bad problem with flooding--ankle deep at least when we encountered a massive downpour one evening during EEH. Went in to FEA and when we were done, the skies had opened and we were stuck in the gift shop for 45 min while the thunderstorm was overhead. Of course, this was the evening we decided to leave the ponchos back at the room and had to buy new ones 😩

Flooding can be pretty bad in Tomorrowland as well.
We once got off Buzz Lightyear and the water was knee deep if you left the gift shop.
And people unloading into the gift shop had no where to go, it was so crowded from people escaping the rain, you could hardly get out of exit line into the shop.

We spent our honeymoon at Disney over 30 years ago, geez we are getting old!!!! It rained everyday. Could you ask your doctor for some patches, they have some great ones that will stay on during the heaviest rain. Disney sells great ponchos. Don't waste your money on the cheap ones. Enjoy this magical time, rain equals little crowds. Congrats!!!

One of my favorite Disney memories is walking through a flooded Tomorrowland with my dad in 1981 and then returning to the Contemporary and trying to dry my shoes with the heat lamp in the bathroom. More than 40 years later they still haven't fixed the issue, apparently.

We've made so many memories on rainy Disney trips that I've come to the point that I hope for rain! Love your memory with your dad! I can remember splashing through huge puddles in Epcot with our girls, the park was completely empty. We looked a mess but had a ball. That's also the trip I realized that wearing a white shirt in a rainstorm is a very bad idea....

This past April, I got done with Philharmagic when a CM made an announcement that the building is now being used as a rain/storm shelter. There would not be a replay of the show and guests were allowed to stay or leave. Even though I was armed with a heavy-duty poncho, the rain that afternoon came horizontally with lightning and thunder.

Welcome to Florida in the summer time!
We have two seasons here in Florida, the wet season which is the late spring through early fall and the dry season, the rest of the year.
For the most part in the summer, it rains everyday. Actually we have been in a drought for a long time and this past week was the first rain e have gotten in a long time.
Even though we’ve built houses, roads, restaurants and attractions, it is still a tropical swamp here in Florida lol.

Another good point is June 1st to December 1st is hurricane season. August through October is the highest chance, they can happen anytime but those few months is generally the most active. If you are here and a hurricane is coming, don’t panic! Don’t try to leave early, don’t flee on foot, you will be fine. You may lose 24 hours of park time but the day before the storm and the day after, the place is empty! You will go from ride to ride with no wait. The day after is some of the nicest weather you will have in Florida. Blue skies, no humidity. During the storm, just stay in your resort. Camping is a different story.
When you're at home and watch, what Floridians call the Jerry Springer of Weather, the weather channel, they are at the beach. You are no where near the beach. Central Florida gets the wind and rain not the storm surge. You never see Jim Cantori live from the Walt Disney complex.
Those two days you will get more done than you would have in five days. Trust me.

It's true. I got stuck there during Hurricane Dorian and we rode fkught of passage the day before thebparks closed 4 times in about 30 minutes. We only stopped because we were starting to get motion sickness from riding it so much in so luttle time.
