The Radiator Springs Racers Wait-Time Minimization Discussion Thread

I didn't really think about that placement. I don't know if most people would care; I wouldn't mind sitting in back or in front of my husband or child.

That's not what they do though. They generally try keeping groups together in the same row. If anyone is OK with that, then the single rider line is probably the best option, and they want to keep the single rider line moving. I saw groups of six in the single rider line and for the most part they were being shuttled into whatever empty seat there was next to a group of two. Occasionally I'd see an empty seat.

We've never waited longer than ten minutes for RSR, honestly. But then, we rope drop, get into the first bunch of cars launched, get FPs, and then get 'em again. Over our five-day trip last week, in which one day was DLR only, we still rode it more than half a dozen times.

Can anyone who has been there very recently comment on how soon the FPs are gone on a weekday with Extra Magic Hour?

You can get this information from the Disneyland app. Click on the wait time, then when it brings the box up, click it again and it will open a page with all the info about the ride along with the current FP times they are distributing. I tend to check the app every hour about a week before trip to see what the current trends are.

This isn't all that "controversial" or difficult.
Fast Pass or single rider. Period.

There's a Wide Right strategy thread somewhere here (search for it) that goes in to extensive detail and is many pages long. I think that will be more helpful than this.

My personal theory is that the SR line is the largest contributor to RSR wait times. People who disagree with this will claim that they are just taking places in a partially filled car and, thus, not increasing waiting times. I disagree; using the SR line to fill a car has become the norm for CMs loading the rides, but if you think about it, loading the cars to full capacity can be done through the regular line. The CMs load and call for "party of 2," or "party of 3," etc. This is standard for SM, BTMRR, Pirates, and even Indy, which has a SR, but I notice the CMs always check the front of the line for smaller parties.

If the SR were eliminated, it would reduce the lines by deterring some individuals or families from riding multiple times in one day just because SR is easier than getting a FP or shorter than stand-by.

I actually think that would add to the problems. As other state what if you are a party of 2 (one adult & one young child) and the party of 4 loads before you 2 to a row but you want to stay together in the same row? When I did SR I was often the only person put in the car, rarely were there 2 SR put in a car, never saw 3 as they would pull a group of 3 from the regular line. The SR line was slowed down when a family would enter and then try to negotiate themselves 2 to a car a time as most of the cars were just able to take one SR at a time to fill in. SR for that reason tend to be adults or older children/adults who quickly load in so it does keep it moving as well as the young children who need help are still buckling in when the last riders are in and almost ready to go. RS is also relying on fast load times it seems too to keep it moving vs some other rides which just have slower load times overall. I can also tell you many families were lining up and sending the father or teenage song to get FP as a runner. The runner would then join them in the regular line. Chances are if you are in SR you are not or cannot do this, so I don't think SR get an advantage over those in standby as they seem to have their own advantage.

I think there are only so many tips for RSR. I found the tips found here and overall park wisdom were the best way to cut down on waits. I only rode in afternoon/night with FP as the lines grew as the day went on. The early bird gets to the RS in this case.

*** Remember the "Wide Right Technique" for RSR, in my opinion this was was GENIUS!

Never been, visiting for the first time in September, where exactly do you make the "Wide Right"???

Any updates to this thread???
We were there Thanksgiving week. We rope dropped and it was a 90 minute wait, so we went ahead and just did single rider. It worked out well. We were prepared for my 9 year old to ride completely alone, but we rode four times on this trip and he always ended up in the same car as one of his brothers, just not next to each other. Morning time was a 5 minute wait, later in the day was 15-20, but it was also SUPER packed. I think single rider or ILL is the only way to not have a long wait.
