Eastern Europeans to UK Migration.

Only UK, Ireland and Sweden allow the A8 (Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia and Slovakia) right of free movement between their countries.

Developed economy in the UK tempts those to work there.

UK has a reputation for tolerance towards migrants.

Migrants come to work in the UK due to pay being a lot better.

Costs of source country
Loss of workforce (7% in Poland)
Skilled migrants have left Poland (btw, they did a funny sketch on this comedy show yesterday relating to that)
Ageing population appearing, and fertility rates dropping.
Imbalance in population pyramid. Most migrants are male and young.

Benefits of source country.
Temporary workers send 25% of their earnings back home.
Higher wages given to those who stayed (but are still lower then the UK by about £4 on average)

Returning migrants have new and increased skills, such as being fluent in English.

Females are starting to do the jobs the migrants left.

I'll continue later with host country (UK) and reasons why people are going back. Oh, and Britons migrating to Spain.

Costs in host country
Cultural tensions.
Crime caused by thost unfamiliar to UK laws.
Population growth.
Downward pressure on wages for the low paid.
Pressure on housing.
Pressure on schools, NHS, and other services for those who speak little to no English.

Benefits in host country.
Skill gaps filled. Migrants do jobs that British don't want to, like gutting fish, or picking berries.
Economic turnaround, meaning local economies are rising.
Businesses making Polish food more available.
Greying population slows down, if migrants become permanent residents.

Why are the migrants leaving?
Recession.
Wages are getting ever lower.
Pound to Euro currency exchange now lower, meaning that migrants are making more Euros then normal, so going back home.
Call for migrants to come back and fill available jobs.

UK to Spain migration next.

UK to Spain Migration

Reasons.
Bad weather in the UK. Good weather in Spain.
High taxes in the UK. Low taxes in Spain.
Perception of increase in Crime in the UK.
Lifestyle more relaxed in Spain.
Cost of Living is generally cheaper in Spain then the UK.
Low environmental quality in the UK.

Costs to source country (UK)
Family breaks up. Grandparents leave.
Loss of potential childcare (O_o)
Loss of highly experienced workforce, who retire early.
The 'grey pound' is spent overseas.

Benefits to source country.
Emigration balances immigration.
Fewer older people to take care of. Greying population decreases.
Relieves pressure on building new housing.

Costs to host country (Spain)
Emigrant 'ghettos' are created, where there are little Spanish living with British.
Resentment as immigrants might get into Politics (again, O_o)
Housing prices increase, too expensive for local people.
Strain on healthcare.
Villa development destroys coastal landscape and biodiversity.
Pollution has increased.

Benefits to host country.
Increased spending in the local economy.
Job creation in construction, retail, health, etc.
Brownfield sites and derelict land can be built on.

Wow, there aren't much benefits are there?

Well, people have gone bankrupt in Spain now due to the recession, I believe.

Curitiba, the sustainable city!

They're so into recycling, their recyling plant is made of recycled materials...

I just did this on Facebook :teeth:

Put your iPod on Shuffle-What are the first 5 songs that come up? by Ellie

Kany West - Heartless, Lion King - Hakuna Matata, Taylor Swift - Should've Said No, James Morrison - Wonderful World and T.I. Ft Justin Timberlake- Dead and Gone.

Loving the random mix there.. from Disney to Country to Rap hahaha :)

What else do I need to know...

Hurricanes only appear in waters that are at least 27 degrees Celsius. Also in between the Tropics of Cancer & Tropics of Capricorn.

The 4 plate boundaries are destructive (Oceanic plate goes under the continental plate. Example is Nazca plate and South American plate), collision (continental plate crashes into other continental plate. Example is Eurasian plate and Indian plate), constructive (Plates move apart from each other. Example is African plate and Arabian plate) and Conservative (plates slide against each other. Example is North American plate and Pacific plate, also known as the San Andreas Fault)

Globalisation? That's what we did as well. I have my exam tomorrow. I know a lot on the physical side, but not the human side.
