Since I'm sure a lot of others are in the same boat as me (flights being cancelled for upcoming trips), here is a great way to call the airlines without having to remember their phone numbers. It can be such a pain to get toll-free directory assistance. Instead, just call:
1-800-555-TELL
This is a free service called "Tell Me" that I learned about in the Wall Street Journal a long time ago. They have a lot of services, and one is connecting you with airlines via voice recgonition. It's totally free...all you do is say "Travel" after the introduction (which usually includes an ad), then say "Airlines," then say the name of the one you want. It is an automated voice recognition system, and it will connect you directly to the airline. I LOVE it!!
They also have other free services, such as weather and wake-up calls. I suspect it is some sort of dot com business that will eventually go broke, but it's a great convenience in the meantime.
I'll be using them a lot tonight as I try to get thru to United, so I figured I'd share the info.
