Anybody have any tips on what I should do to get noticed to come on down
Thanks,
Yes, I have been on the show. It was in 1983 when I was in college, so things may have changed. But this is my first hand experience.
First, get there EARLY. Just because you have a ticket does not mean you will be included in the audience. It's first come first serve.
Be nice to everyone! Very nice, let the butter melt out of your mouth! Be extra friendly to the pages/handlers. They are a weath of information because who they are looking for is different each day.
PIR chooses their contestants from the audience. It is much smaller than it lookes on TV. They do not choose randomly. They have stat's as to each category of person. (Eg, men from 20-40 are high winners, women from 60-80 are low winners, etc.) They choose the contestants according to how they want the show to pay out. For instance, (this is what you need to get from the pages) if they have had 2 or 3 really high winning shows taped in the last week, chances are you show will be steared to being a low winning show. (This is when they pick those little old ladies who use 1942 pricing.)
Every single person will be interviewed. You will all stand in a line and "run down" like you will be running onto stage. They then ask you a few questions. (High winning show, act "smart", low winning show, "act dumb".)
You will be there most of the day. Farmers market is right next door. You can wonder around there during your lunch break.
This is an amazing day and extremely interesting!
About 1 hour before the taping begins, you will be seated in the audience. The producers get everyone "hyped" up and give instructions as to how to act. You really don't think all those people actually kiss Bob because *they* want to, do you?!

Everything is staged. The people you see jumping up & down like crazy people are calm as cucumbers the minute they are out of the camera.
Oh, yes, one more thing. When you are seated, the producers have to set up the camera angles for the stage contestants. You will see them standing on stage with a clipboard looking for them in the audience. I knew I was not going on stage at this point. They did not look in my direction at all.
The camera rolls for the entire hour. During the comercial breaks, Bob, etc actually do chat with the audience.
Don't be expecting to actually "see" the show. There are several camera's and they are always in the way. Before you leave, they will tell you the date *your* show will be aired.
Good luck and have fun!!
I hope you get on. My friend and I thought for sure one of us would because we were living in South Dakato at the time (Bob's home state.)
