Today was my first ever day at Disneyland and my DS(3) wanted some popcorn so I bought him a Alice in Wonderland souvenier tub of popcorn for $5.00. While we rode Haunted Mansion someone stole the tub of popcorn off of his stroller!!! As we walked up to the stroller this lady came up to us and told us that she saw a group of 4 people walking down by the strollers stealing stuff off of the strollers. Now I work in law enforcement so I know how people are but come on.... what kind of people steal a tub of someone elses partially EATEN popcorn????
Needless to say I got a quick reality check on leaving ANYTHING on the stroller.

Scandolous! I remember back in the day when I used to be able to leave my camera on my stroller and no one would touch it. Some people are such thugs now. I am so sorry that you had to deal with that on your first day there. I hope that the lady alerted security about it.

That is so sad but reallity. Your poor son, I hope you got him another bucket, people can be so cruel. In my stroller days I never laf t a thing in it, I brought my own stroller it was always there when I got off a ride, now a days I bet it would be long gone, this world has lost so much of what my parents had years ago, compassion, morals and knowing the difference between right and wrong.

Thanks! Here goes Day 2 so hopefully it will be better than Day 1!!!!!
So far I am not a big fan of Disneyland! I am a Disney World Girl, I have been more times than I could ever attempt to count and I have never had any problems with people stealing anything there, don't get me wrong... I am sure things like that happen all the time, but they have never happen to me there. You can leave just about anything in your stroller and it will still be there when you come back. The cast members love to rearrange the strollers so your stroller is not where you left it but everthing is always still in it!!!

Oh well off to the parks!!!

Ok I know I am going to get flamed for this but here it goes.

Firstly I am so sorry to hear about the tub of popcorn getting stolen.

I don't think it is so much the world that has changed but the way people are allowed to react to it and the way they are allowed to bring up and discipline their children.
I am totally flabbergasted that they no longer allow corporal punishment in schools, if you spank your child bottom for misbehaving they in turn are allowed and are indeeed encouraged to call children services.
Now I am not saying that anyone should spank thier kids at the drop of a hat or leave marks from hitting them to hard but I am saying that this type of guidance away from serious consequenses ie spankings needs to stop. All the books and shrinks, social workers etc etc etc tell you OHHHH just use the timeout or takeaway but these rarely work or at least they don't with my 2 kids. A good smack on the bottom works everytime but only when used as a last resort. Now onto corporal punishment in school. I always wished they would just suspend or expell me rather than paddle my behind so does it make sense to give the kids what they really want?

Hope today goes better for you!

Not that it will change your mind after you've had something taken, but Disneyland is typically a safe place. We've probably been there 10 times over the last 15 years. I've never had anything taken at the park or the hotel.

Just a thought but why on earth didn't the lady who saw the thefts in progress yell out loud, something like "Hey you people, what do you think you are doing, are you STEALING from thoses strollers! HELP WE NEED SECURITY OVER HERE can someone please stop them!" guaranteed in a busy place like DL that there is someone around who would put a stop to it. It's not like she would be confronting them in a dark alley by herself. That's what I would have done but maybe I'm just a pit bull, plus I thought I read somewhere that there are loads of plain clothes security people walking around DL, they might not have seen the incident but with me yelling they would definitely have heard it.
Hope you don't let the bad experience ruin the rest of your holiday.

I'm wondering the same thing -- what happened to just doing the right thing.

Thats a good point. Had someone yelled out "Security" in a loud voice, it would have more then likely sent the scum bags on their way in a hurry.

I am sorry the OP is having a less than stellar time in Disneyland. I have heard many horror stories on the WDW side of disboards of people having things stolen from their WDW resort rooms, strollers, you name it. It is sad that people will be so low while they are in the Happiest Place On Earth, regardless of what coast that happy place is on. I am betting that if the OP tells a cm what happened, she will get a free replacement. Its a good lesson to all of us that anything left unattended can be free game for scumbags! I hope her day today is better at Disneyland!

It is a fact of life that many people do not want to get involved. When I work security, no matter where I am at in the world, getting involved means that you have to take a risk and that risk may mean more than you bargain for..too bad that the world has come to this, but it has. Just listen to how people talk in Disneyland when something does not meet their expectations. The bad language is everywhere even in front of very young children......so in reality, I would not expect DLR or WDW to be any different than many typical downtown areas...even though we want it to be a pollyanna paradise..my two bits. I hope she has a much better day..the day is what you make of it even with the jerks of the world around.

Ditto...I would have yelled or even walked over and confronted them. That is just WRONG!

Since this a family board,all i can say is THIS STINKS!!! :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

I have no idea what spanking your kids has to do with a group of people being spotted taking things from stollers have to do with it , no where was it said they were kids. Plenty of Adults in prison were spanked. Theifs are all over , people steal form churches, just watch your stuff and your family like you were anyplace else.

Mojo, I agree with you 100%. I have seen too many kids run wild in public places, acting like complete and utter hooligans (I just made myself feel old by saying that) while their parents stand by because either they're afraid to discipline their kids or they don't believe in discipline. I was never actually beaten by my folks, but when I stepped out of line, I got a good whallop to set me straight again. Only time I every really got knocked around was when I was about 12 or 13 and acted like I was going to hit my mom and my dad knocked me into a wall. Looking back now, you bet I deserved that. It set me straight once my eyeballs stopped rattling.

I have absolutely zero sympathy or pity for criminals who get beaten, shot, stabbed, whatever by their potential victims when the victim knows how to defend themselves and isn't afraid to do it. There've been times when I've actually encouraged my older sister to carry a gun when she's gone to areas that I'd be afraid of someone trying something with her. Fortunately she never had to use it.

Okay I'm getting a bit heavy for a Disney board. I'll stop now :teeth:
