Any fans/not fans of the Plaza? I'm thinking of booking lunch here for DH's 50th birthday. I've looked on Tripadvisor but I'd live to hear what Dissers think of it. Thankyou!

My favourite table service restaurant at WDW. I make a reservation every time I visit :)

Our Recommendations:
. . . appys:... n/a
. . . entree:.. Grilled Reuben, Meatloaf Meal
. . . dessert:. Original Banana Split
.
NOTE: The eatery is mainly a salad and sandwich shop, and most consider it not a real
sit-down restaurant. As a sandwich shop, it is well above average with consistent quality.
As a sit-down eatery, it is far below average. Don't know why is it a TS category eatery?
Our best guess is that WDW wanted another eatery to burn TS coupons from guest's DDP
and chose this one.

My wife and I enjoy The Plaza. Good food at reasonably fair prices. There is nothing gourmet or overly nice about it. It doesn't try too hard for the "wow-factor" that most other restaurants at WDW aim for. But sometimes simplicity just works and this is one of those cases. You can't really go wrong here.

It's simple sandwiches and ice cream but the food was good and the AC was very effective in August - plus it was good for the overly picky eaters I was forced to contend with - however our large group was forced to wait about 20 minutes passed our ADR time here because it's a pretty small location.

It's our favorite place to grab a simple meal. It's better than qs, not much more in price and has excellent A/C. I'm not sure I'd book it for a celebration meal but we've found it a great bang for your buck if paying out of pocket BTW a great place to book for desert only some of the ice cream selection could be a meal and then some

I'm shocked to see the Food Price Value as a D. I rarely disagree with Rusty but this time I do greatly.
I think it's a great value. One of the lowest cost TS meals on property. Quite close to a QS cost but much better than your avg QS meal. To me that indicates a very good value.
While I won't say it's a favorite or one we do every trip I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it or eat there again.

Now, I'm not sure I'd put this as my #1 choice for a 50th Birthday meal. There are many more "celebratory" options to pick from.

We love the Plaza. We've been there probably a dozen times in the last 3 or 4 years. It's a very small dining area, so sometimes the wait after rezzie time seems long. The food is mostly simple salads and sandwiches, but the milkshakes are wonderful. Price is reasonable (by Disney TS standards) for what you get.

Another vote for The Plaza!! Like previously mentioned, it is a simple sandwich and ice cream shop. Food is plentiful. The AC is pumping when we go in July. It is always crowded so make sure you make an ADR. I always try to book a late lunch here on a day that we will be in MK and they have extended magic hours. I am actually getting ready to book for my upcoming trip. Enjoy!!

Thankyou very much for your replies. The majority got me, I've booked! He's chosen the MK for his birthday and the California Grill, (and I got it! :yay:), for the evening but I wanted him to have a nice lunch as well.

We are going to try it for the first time as well in Oct. I'm interested in people's opinions. We are going to do an early dinner on a MNSSHP day! We did Pecos Bills last time. We are not fans of the new PB menu as I am allergic to cilantro and it's the main ingredient in everything there now!

That will make for quite a magical day indeed!

My wife and I have gone to The Plaza twice before MNSSHP. It's perfect for a really late lunch or early dinner on a party night. If you plan on getting in line for the very popular character M&Gs (Jack and Sally or the 7D) the later the lunch/early the dinner the better. Once we did a 4PM ADR before getting on line for the 7D and were 8th on line. The second time we had a 2:30 ADR before getting online for Jack and Sally and were first on line (we got on line, or started the line,at about 4PM because my wife threatened bodily harm if she didn't get to meet them) but the line grew pretty quick soon after.

We love the Plaza! The food is basic, but yummy and generous, and the atmosphere is charming. For us, the Plaza embodies the spirit of Magic Kingdom and Main Street - and is one of the best values for TS. It's really not much more expensive than CS. We visit every trip. Enjoy!!!

We really enjoyed The Plaza. We had a party of 8 and I think almost every one of our plates was wiped clean. Everyone got dessert and my children got the brownie sundae. If you want to do something a little fun for his bday lunch, maybe consider ordering the Mickey pants/mini sink sundae? It is a little $$$ but a cute touch to make the meal a little bit special!

It really does. When we went, for a lunch, the Towns Folks that appear up and down Main St would come in and mingle with the guests. It was rather cold that day so maybe it was just their way of getting in to be warm :)

The Plaza is our traditional, "first full day at MK" lunch meal every trip for the past 14 years. The food is well done, the atmosphere is great and it is fun to watch the "Disneyworld" go by the windows.
