Do you have any idea to when the Pirate ride went down this last year for the referb of Jack Sparrow?

I know they are putting in new characters at some point next year (Elizabeth and Will), and im not sure when. Maybe someone has heard.

I would assume that the pirates would be down probably the same time as this past year.

POTC was down in 2006 from early March until late June. If memory serves, the exact dates were March 8-June 24.

For info on the potential refurb #2 in 2007 see "POTC Ride Down For Refurb #2 - Possibly Feb-May 2007" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1222667

Let's hope the dates are similar... we're going March 4th :thumbsup2

I am hoping that it will be opened by the middle to end of May. I really hope so, it was closed when we were there last year and I missed it. :guilty: I would think it will be especially if they are going to have the premeier there.

First, all of this POTC closure and movie premiere info is still in the rumor stage, albeit a rumor with a credible source IMO. If you have schedule latitude then the latter part of May will increase your chances of riding POTC.

There is talk the premiere may be in Long Beach in May 2007. See www.miceage.com/allutz/al100306a.htm

Excerpt:
The pirates movie premiere is slated for Southern California for a third time next May, although it may take on a different format than the previous two events. Some managers in Walt Disney World had lobbied to have the next premiere staged at their property, but they were shot down by Burbank executives who didn't want to put up with the hot and rainy Florida climate or the cost of flying in a dozen or two celebrities when they could have 100 celebs happily show up for a fraction of the cost in warm and dry Anaheim.
But this time, instead of staging the premiere inside Disneyland, the event may end up on the shoreline near Long Beach. If Rasulo has his way, they will have pulled the financials together and be able to use the movie premiere to announce that the third ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet is being built and will be home ported in Southern California. Regardless of where and when that announcement is made, it's a commitment that should be announced by next summer with a first year sailing itinerary slated for the end of this decade. You can expect summertime trips up to British Columbia and the Alaskan glaciers, and wintertime trips down the Mexican Riviera, all tied in to a few additional days at Disneyland.

Well I was planning a trip for spring break next year, but if POTC is down again, I will change my plans and go somewhere else. I was there in early June this year and missed it. I actually don't feel its worth it to go all the way out there again and miss it, AGAIN. I'll just save Disneyland for the Fall 2007.

Would this have any effect on the refurb close or open dates at all?
I really don't know but here is how I would approach it: If Disney plans to release POTC 3 Memorial Day weekend 2007, and they want to refurb the POTC ride again, to get the biggest bang for the buck I would expect Disney would open the ride by the time the movie comes out. So if you are concerned about the rumor, plan your trip for late May or after.

Originally I speculated that DL would not take the POTC ride down for Spring Break for the second year in a row, but the rumor indicates that they might. No one really knows right now. I suspect Disney does not know for sure yet what they are going to do.

Our trip is for Late April, 22nd will be our first day. With our work schedual there is NO way to change so I'll keep my fingers crossed and you keep us informed

I would think that it would be a real bummer to take POTC down for an extended period of time two years in a row. I don't know why Disney would want to do this?? Myself and a friend of mine have both reconsidered heading there for our spring break time frame which is April 9 to the 17th. For those of us coming to DL from a good distance away, having POTC closed puts a damper on the trip, and for me, not worth the $$$.

I am hoping that it will be open or reopen when we are there. We are going the very last week of May and into June, so hopefully our chances are good :goodvibes But if we miss it again ... I will be disappointed, but at least I'll be at DL! :cool1:

Well I can see Disneyland taking down Pirates 2 years in a row. It such a bit hit ride. Also they will want to keep things up to date with the movie, and will referbish at some point, so why not do it right away and get it out of the way?
