Monday 16 February
I got up at 6.00 so that I could have an early shower, only to find there was no hot water.
Finally at 6.30 the water run hot, so I assume somebody found a shilling to put in the meter. We went down to breakfast at 7.00 and were in the Parkside diner. The food was very nice but neither of us were particularly hungry.
Off we went to the Park and were amongst the first in there - in fact Buzz was not quite ready for us when we got there. Dtr went first on SM by which time Buzz was ready so we rode 3 times. Poor Buzz - his face was not working properly (in the queue) - it was grey and blank with no features or expression. I presume the projector that shines his features on him was not working. There were 4 men wandering around in there with huge floor plans of the ride - are there changes planned? Understandably there were talking French, so I could get no clue, Im afraid.
After Dtr thrashed me 3 times we went into Fantasyland.
Today Snow White was open for EMH instead of Pinocchio and we were able to ride twice without queuing too much ( and wave to the Small World family who were going past). The queues were minimal today.
Next we rode Peter Pan twice in succession and then went over to Studios.
It opened the main gates at 9.30 and Dtr run to get in the queue for Crush. I queued with her until 10 oclock, then as they opened the rides I went off to get FPs for TOT. I think I made a tactical error here, as the FP was already after 11 oclock, so the FP machines must have opened before 10. Anyway, Dtr was off Crush by about ten past 10.
We noticed Donald had only about 2 people waiting to see him in Toon Town so we went to meet him.
As we were about to wander away Emile came out of a side entrance for a meet and greet so we went to see him too. This is the closest I will willingly get to a rat!
Next we rode on the Flying Carpets then bumped into Lilo and Stitch.
I nearly missed Dtrs photo op with Stitch as I was busy chatting to a mum about the best place to see characters. I should have told her the best thing to do is read the Dis before you go!
Cinemagique was just about to begin so we went in to watch (sitting very near THE bloke) then went to pick up FPs for RnRC. We saw Bellhop Goofy then it was FP time for TOT. DTR got on very quickly as they called down the queue for one person on their own, so we were soon out of there and joining the queue to see Stitch live. Stitch was in a very playful mood today and was so funny. He picked Dtr as his new friend and when she said she was from England, Stitch danced around for ages chanting England, Eng-laaaaaand over and over before finally declaring he had never heard of it.
After Stitch, Dtr went on RnRC and then we left the Studios to get some lunch from the Village. We had paninis from the New York Deli and munched them as we strolled back to the hotel. It wasnt at all cold that day, so we sat on a bench overlooking the lake to finish off our food.
Back in our room, we both went right off to sleep, so our plan to go swimming after an hour had to be abandoned.
When we got back to the Park we went via our favourite short cut
Note the pink boots!
We went first to POTC
then to Indiana Jones, which was a walk-on.
We went then for our first visit of the trip to Phantom Manor. I have mentioned elsewhere how impressed we were with the new look of this.
We thought it was great. I wanted to ride Casey Jr and LPDCDF but the boats were not running - in fact they did not run the whole of our visit. Im not sure why this is, as it wasnt wet most of the time and there werent scheduled to be closed. Anyway Casey was running but they only had one train out so the queue was quite long, but we waited and rode anyway. I do love that little train.
It was dark now and Dtr really wanted to ride BTM - she said she would have then ridden all the thrill rides in one day. The queue time showing was 30 minutes but it was more like 45 minutes before she got on.
It was now time for us to head for the California Grill, which I have reviewed on the right thread.
When I came to pay with my vouchers, the woman was very apologetic but she said she couldnt accept my child voucher - I had separated it from the others, but the barcode was left behind so it couldnt be scanned. She had already crossed it through, so she wrote on the back that it was cancelled in error and gave it back to me to use on another day. They did take off my shareholder discount and then I paid the balance for Dtrs meal.
All paid-up, we left to do a little bit of shopping in the Village - Dtr bought a Flounder plush and an Aristocats snow globe - and then we went back to the Hotel. No cocktails tonight - straight to bed for us.
Tomorrow: more of the same really - food, shopping and rides!
