It stormed early this morning March 8, at 7:00 the wind was still whipping around pretty good and it looked bad outside, was worried that we were in for a bad day. About 8:30, the sun came out, it cleared up and was okay. Still a little windy and the wind was cool but was a nice day. Most folks must have thought it was going to be bad because Epcot wasn't crowded at all. We headed toward Mission Space first off for DH and brother to ride. The Land was closed and didn't really want to go through the energy thingy, thought 40 minutes was to long, didn't think the kids would enjoy. We played by the little fountains that are on the way to MS, DD thought this was so funny, though she screamed any time she got squirted. DS loves water and enjoyed playing here. Walked up toward MS and saw Goofy in astronaut costume so did pictures with him. Then we all headed over to Test Track. For some reason this year our DS 7 yo was afraid to ride anything, then he would get upset because DH and brother rode without him. We waited for them to ride Test Track and saw the Jamminators while waiting. They were really fun and talented. DS decided to try Mission Space so we headed back over there, while waiting DD and I saw Goofy & Mickey and got more pictures made. Some how overnight DD had turned from being terrified of the characters (see day one report) to loving the characters and not wanting to wait her turn to see them. She hugged them, kissed them, hugged them some more. Why wasn't she like this yesterday at breakfast? Note to self, maybe put off character breakfast next year to 2nd or 3rd day to allow her time to warm up to them.
Next we head over toward the World Showcase and stop by and watch the film of Canada. The food from Le Cellair smelled wonderful, will have to try one day when the kids are older. Stopped in the UK and visited with Pooh, Eeyore, & Tigger......Tigger started bouncing and scared DD a little but she was okay as long as he stayed on the other side of the room. DS loves all the characters, has decided Eeyore is his favorite this year, as far as Pooh characters go. Stopped at the stand and got an order of fish & chips (see report in food section) for the kids, they ate the fries, we ate the fish. Headed over to France and waited for Beast to show up but he never did, looked around the little garden and the fountain, asked several CMs who all told us the same time, but he never came. Went on to Morocco, walked through the stores here and back through the little town setting. DS likes to try on the hats there, no characters here at the moment either so decided not to wait. Made it to Japan for last part of candy demo. DS got out of line to ask me something and lost his spot, next person behind him was the last one she picked for this show. He was a little disappointed. She told time of next show and we decided to grab some lunch and hang out for next one. DH and brother went up to Yakitori house and ordered our lunch while I walked back to Morroco and got the kids chicken tenders and fries, wow, the food in Morrocco looked yummy, to bad I already told them to order me something in Japan. We ate lunch and made it down to the candy cart in plenty of time. Got to watch the Japanese performers while we waited....this was great.
The candy artist returned as scheduled and she is so talented!!!! In 60 seconds she transfers a blob of taffy into a beautiful candy creation. We had been the first ones to arrive and she picked DS first and DD second for candy. DS asked for a red dinosaur......the way she does this is amazing, she is so much fun too. DD got a pink cat. They were both thrilled with their candies, we took pictures and then they started eating them. They are pretty, have read that some people save them......I figured they would get broken at some point anyway so just let them enjoy them. If you are in Epcot go see this show. She makes several candies, I thought she only did a couple but I know she did at least 8. Very fun and fascinating to watch.
We walk on around the showcase, look through Italy and then onto America.
We got to see the fife and drum players outside and the kids participated in leading the Pledge of Allegiance. We chatted with a very nice CM out front but decided not to go do the show right now, we wanted to take the boat over and see Honey I Shrunk the Audience. Watched the little trains in Germany for a few minutes before boarding the ferry, the train sets are beautiful and very elaborate, my brother used to collect trains so he enjoyed this. There is so much to see in the World Showcase, this is a nice place to take it slow and just observe the small things.....although this is hard for me to do because I think we have to see everything........so if I don't watch myself we end up missing some of the small things because I am rushing us to the next big event.
Off the ferry we stop and wait as it is almost time for the Characters on Holiday bus to arrive in the plaza. Got in line for Mickey, as we have some Mickey pictures but none with him in the red pants and jacket. We are front of the line so see him right off. We then see Donald Duck and I get in line for Minnie while they see Pluto and a few others that I don't remember. We got to see Terk which thrilled DS as we couldn't ever get that one last trip. I got in line for Minnie while they see a few more and by that time they are getting ready to load up. We saw a lot of characters. Epcot was not crowded at all today.
We go over and do Honey I Shrunk the Audience, last year this was my favorite by now I think Philarmagic is the best. DS is scared of the snake in this one. After that we head to the Living Seas, the line for Crush show was long, hadn't mentioned it to the kids so decided to skip, they played around in the interactive area a little and then DD decided she wanted to climb up and down the stairs. The manatee exhibit was closed, that was a bummer, brother wanted to see them. Not much else to see here. DS struck up a conversation about the corals with the CM at the table, think he thought she was pretty because he kept going back to talk to her about coral. DS is also an animal, any kind of animal, freak. He wants to be a zookeeper when he grows up.
After the LS we get pictures with Nemo and head over to Ice Station Cool so brother can sample the Beverly. Have to say, I really like the drink from Isreal, although I don't recall it's name. I skipped the Beverly this time, remember it from last year, yuck! DD likes the watermelon drink, think DS sampled most but wasn't thrilled with any of them.
DH and brother decide to ride Test Track one more time while on this side of the park. DD, DS, and me look around in Mousegears, DS swaps one of his pins at the pin game there and us three head over to the Electric Umbrella and grab a bite to eat (see food report).
Back to the world showcase starting in Mexico, it is getting dark now and a little cool outside. Put the kids pants and fleeces on. We ride the boat through Mexico and look through the market. Then we are off to Norway where we ride Malestrom and look through the shops there, almost bought something at the bakery but not really hungry right now and DH and brother want Chinese. In China DH and brother get food, we look around at some of the little stands. DS bought a puppet, he got one last year too, I see a pattern developing here. Oh well, it's his money, he saved for this all year and had $206 when we left home......that way, if it's his money he can buy what he wants, though usually decides against getting somethings unless he really, really, wants it. We stop in Germany and buy some chocolates, look around the shops in all the countries again.
We end up staking out a spot on the bridge where the boats pull under to watch Illuminations. It is pretty cold out now. The show was good but after seeing Wishes the night before, it's hard to top that. We head out of the park and stop and check out our pictures. We also have to show my brother the sidewalk that lights up with the fiber optics.
Everyone is tired and we head for the resort, we had a good day at Epcot. Mom & dad stayed at the resort today so I take them to get something to eat when we get back, upon returning the kids are fast asleep.
Tomorrow......Animal Kingdom
