I'm planning to order baskets for my 5 grandchildren from Shirley for our July 10th Magic cruise. When should I call Shirley and can you guys give me some ideas for my 8 & 10 yr old Grandsons.I have plenty of ideas for the girls. Thanks !

I'd give Shirley a call on the 800 number and ask for suggestions. Are sand toys to juvenile for the boys? My "baby" is 24 and a CM on the Magic so it's hard to remember.

What about squrit guns for the grandsons? The kind you have to put underwater and suck up water to squirt? They make kid sized snorkle sets and goggles I know they sell them at Costco this time of year, also underwater disposable cameras of their very own might be appreciated. For a education students perspective, the cameras are a safe bet, plus getting vacation photos from your grandkids perspective is really cute, and it is a great thing for them to look back on when they grown up. I know I crack up when my mom pulls out the photos from my first camera experience... lets just say their are a lot of knees, and halves of peoples heads!

We will be more than happy to work with you in coming up with suggestions for gift baskets - also be aware if you have a few items you would like to include in your gift baskets, you are most welcomed to send them down to us to include at no charge.
Make sure you have some type of budget so that we will know not to go over this amount ok.

You might want to do ONE large basket for all, DCL charges Shirley (who passes the cost on to you) a fee for EACH basket to be brought onboard and placed in the stateroom. Those fees can add up quickly.

We LOVED the basket Shirley did for us, and we'll have her do another one when we cruise RCCL next year!

-Markers/Notebook to draw in
-Arcade cards for the ship
-Sunglasses
-Deck of cards
-"cool" beach towel
-One of those games with two circular "gloves" w/velcro on them -and a fuzzy ball to play w/ at CC
-flashlight (my boys love these)
-Cheap cool watches
-books (Bionicles, Star Wars, Harry Potter, etc)
-Travel games (ike the travel edition of connect four)

I also had a "Perfect Gift" question. Shirley, everyone on this board HIGHLY recommends you, and since I lurk more than I post I have seen how happy people are with you. I was wondering two things actually.

1. Do you only make baskets for Disney cruises? Or could you deliver to another cruise? On the 8th of Jan. we board a carnival cruise for our wedding and then on the 15th of Jan we board a disney cruise for our honeymoon.

2. On my Honeymoon Cruise (Disney) I was wondering if something really special could be done. Do you have a basket geared toward honeymooners? I also think I remembered that baskets can be customized? Is this right?

My ideas are that for the "wedding" cruise I will have a basket delivered to my parrents and his parrents. On the "honeymoon" cruise I would like to surprise my then-husband with a basket waiting for us in our room.

What do you think?

can you actually put arcade cards from the ship in the basket?
I am very interested in this.....our 12 yr. old LOVES the arcade.
Also, you sound like the most wonderful person - I am trying
to convince my DH to stop in the shop before we board the ship to meet you - BUT, you know, he MUST be the first person at the terminal, waiting in line for the gates to open. Thanks for

Hi there - First please know that Norm and I really really fought tooth and nail against Disney going up so high on their charges but it was to no avail - yes I do pass that cost to you, but I pay for Tom to deliver to the ship and I could NOT, in good conscience, pass that extra to anyone - yes we do deliver to the other ships - their charge is $7.00 (Disney's charge is the highest of all cruise ship deliveries in the state of Florida) but I have to also say, they have the highest praise in security so it is worth it.
It is hard to say what all we can do and that is why I suggest calling the shop - it just makes it more personable.
Anyhow thanks everybody and make sure to remember Norm and I will be going to Key West at the end of this month so if you still want information on Key West, make sure you send me your envelope ok.
Thanks for the upbeat comments - I sure needed it today.

Oh! I hope no one took my comment about the delivery fee the wrong way! I was in no way blaming Shirley! It's a DCL fee, and Shirley's baskets are already very reasonable, I wouldn't dream of her having to "eat" that fee!

I was just trying to save the poster a little money with the suggestion of a combined basket. It's an idea Shirley gave me when I called her to order baskets for our cruise!

I didn't take it that way sweetie - believe me I certainly do not like to pay that high fee since my baskets are loaded with Disney's orders so we are paying for their stuff also - it is "ok" for I still say they are #1 in security and if that helps fray expenses - well we can't do anything about it and wouldn't.
