The other side of the island

OK, I've not been able to figure this one out, so I'm going to ask you clever people. How do you get to the other side of the top of Tom Sawyer's Island? I can get to the side on the left that they sometimes ask for in quests, with the cave mouth; but I can't figure out how to get onto the other side. Am I being really stupid here, or is there a knack that I don't know?

Get on the monarail and get off in Frontierland. It exits to Tom Sawyer Island.
