The Osborne Lights

How long it takes is up to you. Light shows start about 6pm. 20 minutes should see you through the display and at least one show. With expected crowds it may take you 40 minutes to walk through. If you are staying on property, take the bus and try to arrive at DHS well ahead of 6pm.

Thanks..we'll be here from mid afternoon through dinner so we'll head over early. I was just hoping we wouldn't need more than an hour.

We saw it right where they "let" us in. It was on the right, as you face the direction to head down the street from there.

That was my first time seeing the Osborn Lights- and I really don't "get" the big deal. I'm sorry, I tried. Yes, it's a couple of city blocks lit up with lights. It's ok. We walked through it a bit, and then went off to ride TSMM. I can't imagine them being missed at all when I go back in the future. Fantasmic! I would miss, though. I still love it!

I really like that there is something for everybody, but I thought the lights were just not anything to make an effort to see.

I'm a sucker for Christmas lights, at Disney or anywhere, so I enjoy it. But your right I wouldn't make a special trip just for the lights, although I am glad I'll see them again before they go. Trip coming up next week.

Anyway still better than a kick in the knee!!

I am so bummed about this ending. First Spectromagic and now this, our Disney hearts are melting! We stood there for hours, just soaking in every last minute of the beauty!

So agree with this! We miss Spectro so much, and like the Osbourne Lights, are glad we got to experience them - DD would add Mickey and Minnie's houses in Toontown at MK - loved all the clever items in there. We are also making a short trip before Christmas, because of free dining originally, then for the lights when we heard the sad news:sad:, and for IJ, which DD also loves and will be going too. We will go to HS two nts(maybe three!) to soak in all we can! Thanks for the heads up on the gingerbread hot cocoa - will have to make that part of the experience!:santa:

I was just surprised with a long weekend 12/26-12/28 to go see the lights! We have never seen them! I was debating on making our one day at DHS into a hopper at MK, but it sounds like I should just stay put at DHS. Great tips! Thanks!

Does anybody know the reason it's ending?

This is where Toy Story Land and Star Wars Land will be going. Thie entire Streets of America area will be basically gutted and they will be building over the next two years.

It actually moves on a weekly basis (though I'm not sure when the week resets)
I've seen it in 3 or 4 different places so far. Some pretty obvious, and some not as much

It does move! Makes it fun for repeat visitors.

DHS last night was jam packed. We decided to drive to the park....big mistake. All cars were being refused entry and sent to Epcot to park by 5pm. The crowd in the park was shoulder to shoulder but was more comfortable on Sunset Blvd. we spent over an hour watching the lights. It was very hard to walk through as people stand right in the middle to take video/pictures. Also, there are several spots where it bottle necks very badly and people get really rude towards those trying to get past.
Aside from that it was beautiful and I'm glad I got to see it.

So am I the only one who didn't know Movie Studios is closing early today and no Osborne Lights. Leaving for home in the morning. :(

No you are not the only one. Our friends stayed the day spcifically to see them. They were devastated to learn the cheerleaders have them to themselves tonight!

Aw bummer. I'm so sorry. :worried: Yeah I was surprised they had the pop warner event. I mean I know that's a big deal, but this close to the holiday season is such a bad time to be closing something early like that.

That's what I love about Disney! Different things speak to different people. We saw Fantasmic! once a long time ago and have never had the desire to ever see it again.

Yes it is. We are with you, F! is eh to us. We can leave it or take it. We don't make a huge effort to see it. But we are making not only 1 but now 2 trips to see the Lights one last time. They are the best thing at Disney for the Holidays for me. 2nd only to the Toy Soldiers in the Christmas Parade.

Oh NO! I'm sorry it was not better announced. I did think everyone knew they closed for them. They've been doing it for years, we went in 2012 during Pop Warner week and they closed 1 night then. They told us at the Resort though

We saw them Monday and really enjoyed it. Yes, it was a mob in the middle. A line of scooters parked in the middle and would not move to let people walk. We finally got around and enjoyed watching from the photo pass area. I think they are really cool, but I would not make a special trip for it.

Different strokes :)

I stayed at POP and when checking in I had a conversation with the CM regarding the Pop Warner kids. She never mentioned anything about those kids having the lights all to themselves for one night. I would have been really mad if I had not been able to see them. We actually booked the trip just for the lights. Yes, it was a crazy thing to do but I have always wanted to be at WDW at Christmas time to see the lights and all the décor. DH's birthday is in Nov and mine in Dec so we decided to splurge as a gift to each other. I think it's turned into our Christmas presents too....I way over spent while there but boy was it a fun weekend. :bitelip:
