Welcome to Hollywood!
After a wet day at Epcot, the skies dried up and the sun tried poking it's way through the clouds and it was Hollywood Studios Day!
It didn't take much to get from our resort to Hollywood Studios with shorter than anticipated lines at both the Skyliner and turnstiles at Hollywood Studios and before we knew it, we were hustling down Hollywood Boulevard towards Toy Story Land - we were going to rope drop Slinky Dog Dash. We were in line for Slinky Dog Dash before SDD was even running and once it opened, we were basically constantly walking in queue right onto the ride. As we exited the ride following our first line, we noticed that there was basically no wait, so we decided to jump back into the queue and ride SDD again - what a way to start the day!
After our second ride on SDD, we walked onto Toy Story Mania, and Mitch & Delaney enjoyed a quick ride on Alien Swirling Saucers. I absolutely love to rope drop in the mornings, we are able to squeeze in so many things in the early hours.
Once we were finished with Toy Story Land, we made our way onto Batuu with plans to grab wraps from Ronto Roasters as we waited for our Oga's reservation. I love the Ronto wraps and Mitch thought they were delicious too! After several minutes, we started to make our way over to Oga's and were brought inside after waiting for about 10-15 minutes. It was unfortunate that we did not get a booth, but just one of those bar height tables over to the right. Fortunately for us, we got paired with a group of 3 women and they were hilarious - we really enjoyed chatting with them.
Dillon went totally wild and crazy and ordered a Sprite, Delaney enjoyed a Jabba Juice, Mitch ordered a Yub Nub, and I decided to try one that makes your face numb (I don't see it on the menu at Oga's right now, did they take it away!?). Mitch liked his drink a lot and he ordered another one to go for us to sip on as we continued to explore Batuu. Eventually it was time for our LL on Smuggler's Run.
Mitch and I were gunners and the kids were pilots - it was a very bumpy ride!
And for the second best part of the day, it was time to head to Rise of the Resistance for the first time ever. We booked the IA$ for this Ride, it was $63.92 for the four of us, and honestly..
IT WAS SO WORTH IT.
The entire experience was nothing like anything that any of us had ever experienced and I am still trying to figure out how..that whole experience..works. It's been 2 months and I can only come up with Pixie dust and magic as the only logical explanation. We were rendered speechless and as we disembarked the ride, we could only look at each other in silence as we worked to process what we experienced. Mitch and I were both brought to tears at one point as we were recapping it all.
Whatever you do, you must get on this ride.
Spoiler alert, we canceled our AK day to do another HS day, just to ride RotR again.
We left Batuu and headed towards Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. This was another first for us and I paid for the IA$, but to much of our disappointment, the ride broke down as we made it through the first "room" on the ride and we had to be evacuated. Of course, Disney made it right and gave us a LL with anytime return for us to try again later, but it ended up being down for a couple of hours.
No biggie, we decided to head towards Rockin' Rollercoaster and..experienced a couple of technical delays while we were seated and waiting to take off. All I could think about was getting stuck while upside down on a loop and hoped like none other that the ride wouldn't pause while we were on a loop - so needless to say, I had a smidge of anxiety while on the ride. Naturally we make it through the ride incident free, but I was so nervous and ready to get off, that I put my ears back on before the shoulder harness came up and when they did, my ears flew off of my head behind me.
My 3D printed, Mando & Grogu ears.
I freaked out, my first concern being for the ride - did I just break the ride!? Luckily that answer was no and the cast members were so kind over my snafu, but they couldn't safely get to my ears and told me to check guest services at the end of the night.
Stay turned for Hollywood Studios Day wrapped up plus dinner at Sebastian's Bistro!
