Wednesday 28 October

We had another early start and a 7am breakfast – this time we sat at a window overlooking Lake Disney.

We got in the Park at 8 and made our way towards Buzz, but could see people gathering outside. Typical, we thought, broken down in EMH. Just as we were about to bypass it and go to Space Mountain, the CM opened it up. Yay – onto Buzz we went. We decided to go around twice but in our second go it broke down when we were about 4 people away from boarding it. We had about a ten minute wait while some tecchy-guys tapped away on the computer and then at last we got our ride. Dtr rode Space Mountain and then we decided to take some photos down Main Street. We had walked on Peter Pan so easily the night before, we decided not to queue this morning for it.

It seemed a good opportunity to get some atmosphere photos with very few people around.

In the midst of all this Halloweeny stuff - a Christmas window

We went to the Studios and when it opened Dtr was 29th in line for Crush. I really hate that ride! They didn’t open it up until 10.25 AAAAARGH It is so infuriating to just stand there and wait and wait while every other ride is open. It was clear they would open it, as they were still allowing people to join the queue (already showing 120 mins) bit for some reason it was late. Moan grumble moan. While she waited I had got FPs for Tower of Terror, so after Crush we had a quick photo op with Emile.....

....before heading for the TOWER.
I sat in the exit corridor and watched several children come off the ride crying, while I waited for Dtr. Each visit we make we have the BIG question – which plush will Dtr buy this time. Well it was Day 3 of our holiday and the decision was made – it was to be Crush and Squirt – so off we went to the shop to buy it.

We went over to RnR Coaster where the queue wasn’t too bad and then went to wait the 13 minutes for the next English version of Stitch. He was hilarious and I was laughing as much as I did the first time I saw it. We decided to have lunch in the Backlot Express as the menu looked quite interesting – pastrami and mozzarella baguette, chicken and sun dried tomato etc. As I explained in a different thread, this is a self service canteen and the hot food has to be collected first. The queue meant that the food would have been quite cold by the time we got to eat it, so we gave it a miss. Instead we decided to have a takeout from Annette’s.

Here is Dtr displaying her new plush - notice the nice weather again.

We had 2 cheeseburger & chips and a caramel milkshake which was €18 after AP discount. It was warm enough once again to sit outside Annette’s to eat.

We went back for our daily rest and then decided to try out the NPB pool. We didn’t have towels with us so decided we would hire them. When you get to the pool ( a loooong trek!) you find out that you have to pay for the towel hire at the hotel shop (a looooooooooong trek in the other direction). I was very glad when the CM said we could have the towels and pay later. (I will admit that when I got in the pool and realised that most people had just taken the towels from their room, I was tempted not to pay for the hire, as there was no record kept of it – but my conscience wouldn’t let me and I went and queued up in the shop to pay).

The pool is lovely but it was quite cool and I shivered for a while. After our swim we trekked back across the hotel to our room to get ready for our meal and the evening ahead.

The Cape Cod was due to open at 6 and so we went down at about 5.55 to find there was already a long queue of people waiting to get in. It didn’t take too long before we were seated and the food was very nice and plentiful. Despite me booking for 2 adults and telling the maitre d’ that we were 2 adults, they only charged me a child’s meal for Dtr. Another few Euro saved.
Here Dtr is proudly showing the fact that she will eat prawns with heads on, unlike her mother!

We went to the Park after a meal and had a lovely evening going on all our favourite rides. I know Halloween week is very very busy in the day but in the evening it is really manageable and we went on Pirates, Indiana Jones, Phantom Manor, Snow White, Pinocchio, IASW, Buzz, BTM and Peter Pan without having to queue much at all. Dtr had a ride on a Halloweeny straw thing.

We left the Park at closing and did a little light shopping before making our way towards the Newport Bay.

The only low-light of our holiday occurred now. If you have stuck with my TRs over the years, you may recall some years ago, my son jumped out and said “boo” to the wrong family group by accident. Well this was fate getting her own back on my family. :sad2:

As we walked passed a particularly dark bit of the path by some bushes (about half way between the Village and NPB) there was a rustling from the bushes and 2 teenagers jumped out. One just yelled, but the other came right up to us, arms waving in the air and screaming “AAAAAAAAARGH” in our faces. I did a quick “ohmigoodness” but Dtr SCREAMED like I’ve never heard anyone scream before and then started crying. These 2….erm…..louts is as polite as I can get……. roared with laughter, high-fived each other and then ran off.

I then had to calm down a near-hysterical 12 year old, assuring her that it was just stupid boys playing a stupid joke. Actually it did, momentarily, frighten the life out of me and my brain was racing, thinking we were being attacked. I was actually working out if it was better a) to run to the Village, b) to run to the hotel, c) to stand and fight. You know how your mind can do all this in an instant. Horrible horrible boys.
Anyway, we got back to our room without further ado and settled in for our last night there.
