Concierge - It was wonderful for an indulgent 21st anniversary but the cost just too much for me to do it for a full 7 day stay. For the money it involves, I can buy meals and drinks galore ... not that it wasn't wonderful ... it WAS! The conceirge room (the HONEYMOON ROOM!) was beautiful and breakfast was nice. The concierge personnel were great too and we were given such special treatment for our anniversary. But ... it is a big increase in the over all cost.

Now ... if I won a lottery ... :thumbsup2

Wondering if anyone has shipped packages home from the Poly. I was thinking about sending home some of our purchases but am hearing that it cost a lot of money. However someone said they shipped home via the front desk and it was a resonable price. Any help would be great!!

We didn't ship from the Poly, but did do this last October from the WL. It was a box about 15"x15"x15" (a CM at the Mercantile got us one of their boxes from the back and the materials to package it up) and ended up costing (IIRC) about $16. We shipped it the day before we left and it arrived home two days after we did. It definitely was a good thing to do, 'cuz when we weighed our luggage at the ME airline desk on check-out day, we were at 50 lbs. EXACTLY! We were so glad we'd sent that box home, LOL!!

I dont want to start a thread regarding my question I want to pose.....I currently have WL CL booked, Dh thinks we are standard. Wow what an upgrade, lol, Anyway, I have changed sooo many times...however, for what I am paying I can get in the Poly , I am happy with GV, esp if I am in Tokelau.
I kind of wanted to try another resort, but my heart belongs to Poly. And when I realized it was now actually a couple hundred less.......I know, only I can make this decision, but would like some input. Sorry , I am not trying to hijack the thread. if anyone is offended, I will start a thread.

Thanks for your input. DH, me and DD (will be 14 mths old)

Tisk, tisk tisk. Imagine meeting you here :lmao: . We are hopeless aren't we? Don't ask why I'm over on the poly thread, just don't ask........ My guess is tonight ktink will meet us here.....

Which longhouse besides Tukelau provides best garden view?:3dglasses

I know it all depends on your point of view and what you like but I hated a room we had in Rapa Nui on the third floor. It just seemed too far or i guess i should say just not as close as the other buildings.
Funny thing is I've stayed at Tokelau and I loved it and that is pretty close to Rapa Nui.

I just had to add my 2 cents. I just returned and got connecting rooms on the third floor of Rapa Nui facing Tahiti (didn't get my Tokelau request) and we absolutely loved it. We had lots of time at Epcot and MK and the convenience couldn't be beaten. We wanted a quiet location and wanted to be away from the noise near the pools and GCH. The added bonus for us is there is a separate parking lot outside the building which was practically empty so we got stuff from our van very easily as we needed it (strollers, extra cases of drinks etc.) It also made packing up to go home a breeze. We were right beside the walkway to the TTC and used it frequently for an easy trip to Epcot or a quick hop on the boat to MK. Our rooms also had large double sinks in the bathroom which was awesome. I'll be requesting the same room again if I get a chance to go back. It was a wonderful stay and a beautiful resort.

Poly makes me think of one of the resorts where we stayed while honeymooning in Hawaii. It was called coco palms and it was on the island of kauai. I say was because it was destroyed during a hurricane in either 2002 or 2003. It was where the wedding scene in Blue Hawaii was filmed. I like to see pictures of Poly but probably won't stay there. We plan a trip back to Hawaii in 2009 for our 20th anniversary and I'm saving my island theme for Hawaii. By the way, August 2008 they will be finished restoring the cocoa palms for all those who loved that famous hotel. Curious to see how close it will look to the Poly.

Hey i started a thread for me you and ktink..Confessions of A resort changer...

We are staying at the Poly and my girls are dying to try the Kitchen sink. What is the best way to get there?

Thanks!!!

The fastest way is to take the monorail or boat to the MK and hop a Y&BC bus. Exit at the YC as that is the first stop. B&C is in the commons area between the two lobbies.

You could also take a bus to AK and transfer or a bus to MGM and then a boat. Or walk to the TTC, monorail to Epcot and walk through. But going to the MK will be much faster in general.

I have to add a few more cents...
My sister has stayed in this building and Tahiti and loves both for the reason RainbowGirl mentions. She loved the close empty parking lot and being steps away from the TTC. The last time we went together we were so far away from each other in different buildings and we each loved our location.

We have always wanted to stay at the Polynesian but could never get a good 'deal". Anyone ever see a special for mid-august? We usually stay at Wilderness Lodge but always hoping.

thanks
WF:banana:

I got a AAA rate for Aug 18-22 that was about 15% off, probably not a good "deal" but its better than nothing I guess

just subscribing...now that the Cr has demolished the north garden wing...thinking it's time to sail over to the Poly on our next trip!

Just excited to say we are heading back to the Poly in June. It is by far my favorite resort - having stayed there in 2002. In 2006 we stayed at the Beach Club (which is lovely) and came over to the Poly to eat at the Kona Cafe (LOVE IT!!) and I was so bummed not to be staying there.

They relaxing atmosphere and lush landscaping can't be beat.

MickeyMaz.....your name cracks me up, because my husbands name is Maz. OK...not his official given name, but a shortening of his last name he has been known by for years.

Thanks for all the advice everyone...

I've got another quick Q concerning Concierge...
Everyone seems to LOVE concierge...Club level...on all the posts at any of the deluxe resorts... everyone is excited about booking concierge.... but all i can figure it out to be is:
hors d'oevres and wine in the evenings and
someone to make your dining reservations
These are nice little luxuries I suppose, and maybe down the line,, My wife and I might do it... but for now, with toddlers, it just seems to make an already expensive stay that much more expensive!
What do you pros think?...
Is it worth the indulgence if you don't have money to burn?
Or am i missin smthg?

THANKS :)

I like it because I want someone to help me with the "work". I prefer to email a list of days and TS choices with desired times and let someone else take care of arranging it and emailing me that it is done. Now, is it hard to make that phone call yourself? Of course not. Other pre-arrangements we have enjoyed: having someone shop for gifts for our kids and have them in the room when we arrive (I have read some say this is an imposition and above and beyond, but I've asked and those I have spoken to don't seem to think it is a big deal esp. if they are easy to find items). Some families love to go shopping, but not mine. I have to sneak away (a price to pay for only having boys), and we have had birthday cakes ordered and delivered once to a TS and once to the room. I could probably find out how to do this on my own, but easier to let someone who does it everyday.
When I do manage to "escape" and shop, I love having my purchase delivered to my room rather than going to pick it up. I know, that is super lazy of me, but I just like it.
I also don't want to pack a bunch of snacks or order from a grocery delivery. (I ordered water last year and it was so much trouble finding where it was dropped off, etc. I wasted an hour fooling with that.)
I like having a handy quick breakfast. My kids don't want a pop tart on the go (I'm sure plenty don't mind though) and I need morning coffee. This is so much more convenient. We did a CS one morning for breakfast. Navigating through people trying to find a table and get my kids situated. I do not want to start the day with that much chaos.
Nice to grab a cool drink (or a beer or glass of wine) on the way in from the parks. Again, just convenience.
I think it makes having my kids there easier. I can see the point about using it when you are older, but IMO it makes things easier now.
DH first figured this was a waste of money, but is spoiled now, too.
All a matter of preference. Figure out the cost difference and decide if you are willing to pay that much to make the trip a bit less "work", I would not let the cost of food and drinks play too much of a role in the decision-- the ease of availabilty is the return, if it doesn't seem like a good trade off for your hard earned dollars, it isn't.
JMHO.

We were booked for 3 nights at Poly last week and could only stay one. The nephew of the people I was traveling with was killed in a tragic work accident so we had to book a flight out quickly. We did have conceirge service and they were most helpful in guiding us on our quick departure. We did go to the luau the night before. I enjoyed it, but dont be fooled by the unabstructed front area view they promote. They said we could see from all over that area, but poles and peoples heads in the way. We had reservations for the front area and were the last table in the back.. The show was very nice though :dance3: , food was fine, go hungry cause there is lots to eat. Probably the closest I will get to Hawaii. We stayed in the Hawaii building and the room was great. The Conceirge room we only used once when we arrived to get some snacks and pop, but had we stayed on, it would of paid off in the long run. I didnt make the travel arrangements, but i am thinking it was only $50 the whole stay. Will sure be going back, just dont know when.

Subscribing, just booked Concierge Hawaii building at the Poly for this november!

I am trying to plan a trip for next year and have always stayed at a moderate
but we would love to try Poly. I will have 2 eighteen year olds and one thirteen year old plus dh and me. Do you think we can fit in one room? I can't imagine gettting 2 rooms Thanks for any help
