I know you fans are out there...this subject keeps popping up in other boards, so i thought it should just get its own thread. post whatever you want about the books/movie here...your fave scene, fave actor, loved it or hated it, cute pieces of trivia. whatever. Spoilers abound, so beware if you have not finished the series or want to read it!
so i'll start the conversation...who do you think should play Thalia? I read somewhere (not a reliable source, just a fan message board) that Selena Gomez might be in negotiations. Personally, i think that would be cool, but I doubt that disney would let her get involved in a major franchise until wizards runs its course. what do you think? what about Rachel?

ps. a cute little (spoilers!) Annabeth/Percy thing i noticed...if you look in wide shots in the very brief scene at the diner (right before they go to Vegas, when the TV shows a report about the storm cloud) you'll see a glass of coke/rootbeer between Annabeth and Percy that they're sharing, two-straw style. You have to look fast--it's only shown for about two seconds. but something cute to watch for!

also, my friends and I kept a fun running commentary (much to the annoyance of the other patrons in the theater ) throughout the movie, and I thought i'd share some highlights:

(after annabeth's 'i have strong feelings for you' line)
me: okay, annabeth, you have strong feelings for a hot guy and you don't know what's going on. IS YOUR MOM THE GODDESS OF WISDOM, OR WHAT?

(as percy has his sword held up to annabeth's throat)
me: kiss her!.

friend: okay, how could the guy holding the all-powerful lightning bolt not win?

(As medusa is talking to percy)
me: Medusa, don't turn percy to stone! then all of his fangirls will go back to taylor lautner and he'll get an even bigger head! (friend laughs )

The only things I didnt like about the film was how much good stuff from the book they cut, they cut Ares and Clariese out of the plot completly, they removed the suspense of what god was Percys father, also for obvious reasons Percy battling the Cimera at the top of the St. Louis Arch was cut, but it would have been so crazy awsome if they did film it.

But their were places that were it was good and somewhat spot on to the book.

We had fangirls right next to us, everytime a major character from the books came on screen they would do this:

*Grover comes on screen*

Fangirls: Its grover!!

Then at points they would say spoilers which was really annoying

As for the actual movie...
It was okay. I didn't love it because they screwed with the plot too much. HELLO they're supposed to be looking for the bolt, not pearls! The pearls were a gift from Posideon.
And where'd the hydra come from? That's in the second book...
Annabeth is pretty much supposed to hate Percy until the end.. and she's supposed to be blond...
They're supposed to go to Medusa's place after being attacked by Furies on the bus. They're supposed to blowe up the St. Louis Arch. The wheels are supposed to be set in motion by Ares. Luke is supposed to work for Kronos.
Okay, that battle at the end was really epic. BUT IT NEVER HAPPENED.
And where was Thalia's pine tree? THAT was supposed to be the camp's border...
Hades is supposed to be the most kingly and god-like.. not whatever the heck they made him. They never even meet Persephone in the book...
I could go on for hours.

Overall, it was pretty good. If I hadn't read the books, I would've enjoyed it lots more.
