***The Official October 2016 Thread***

Joining in for October! My DD and I will be attending our first MNSSHP and staying at ASMovies from 9/30-10/3. Just a quick weekend visit since we'll be back for a family vacation in January!

@vrajewski10513 - just confirmed a resort change. We got a nice deal on a Royal Room, so we'll be staying at POR for the first time instead of ASMovies. My DD is so excited!

Me and my youngest daughter will be there the first thru fifth! It's a surprise birthday trip for her. Just her and I! We will be at all star sports. Also attending our first mnsshp.

Just read that the Dinosaur refurb is extended through 10/17!!!

Yeah that one change is making me rework my entire schedule, cancel and rebook ADRs. So freaking mad right now I could just pull the plug on the whole trip. They make us plan 6+ months out and the pull this BS and we still don't have any F&W info among numerous other shows and times.

Son of a biscuit! >:( That is the ONE ride DS really wants to go on -- his top ride choice of all 4 parks. I hope they don't push it back any longer. At least we can get in at least one ride on it this way before we go.

I'm actually feeling lucky - both the rehabs in October now are not rides that are super important to us. I'd like to ride BTMRR but I don't know if I could get my DD on there. And for sure, DD would hate Dinosaur - it would scare the pants off of her.

But  for all of you who are upset about the rehabs.

Is everyone purchasing Memory Maker for their trip?

We only have two Disney park visits planned for our two week vacation (both MNSSHP's) so MM is not a good purchase for us unless we can get in on share. We did that last October and it was an excellent value! We have 4 October families already interested in a share again this year, but are looking for a couple of more (including someone to lead it.....I fear that task may fall to me, though). Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss hopping in on our MM share, and I'll point you in the direction of where to look for that info.

I can't seem to figure out how to PM you, but I would be interested in learning more about a MM share group! We are going 10/1-10/6

It must be because you don't have enough posts yet? Because I just tried to contact you via PM and its not giving me that option, either.

Google "easywdw forums", one of the options on their forum page is called "Photography Discussion and Picture Sharing". Look for the October MM Share post and that's the group I am trying to get started.

Basically its Memory Maker shared by 6 families, with everyone paying 1/6 of the cost. Post any of your questions over on that thread and I am happy to help you there :goodvibes.

I know exactly how you feel. Since we've booked they announced the BTMRR refurb, extension of Dinosaur refurb, and I just got a lovely letter in the mail (that i knew would be coming) stating that the Sassagoula Food Court at POFQ will be closed for refurb during our stay... They will have alternative options available but its still a pain in the neck.

After much debate we decided to just leave everything as is and hope for a Dino soft opening. Our only real option was to move our 1 Universal day from Monday Oct 17 to Saturday and thought that would be insane to try and do Universal on a Saturday with Horror Nights that day as well. Definitely stinks having to scramble a whole schedule for 1 ride but I think with T-Rex café and the Jurassic Park ride at Universal the boys will get their dinosaur fix. Missing BTMR again this trip too. And Sassagoula, when is that supposed to reopen? We were planning a breakfast there and hitting the pool for a couple hours on our off day. Just read they will be bussing people to the POR food court? Uhhhgggg.....

THe letter didn't say when exactly just that it would be closed for our stay 10/1-10/8. They will have an alternate dining experience adjacent to the lobby. They will serve a lot of the specialty meals.. Gumbo, jambalaya, po-boy sandwiches etc.. Along with an assortment of hot and cold meals. They will also have grab n go meals for purchase. There will be specialty bus transport to POR for guests who would like to use their food court. And the in-room pizza delivery will still be available.

For those October veterans-We're going 10/7-10/16 on fall break to fulfill our MNSSHP/F&W bucket list. We've only ever been during the late May/early June time period. Other than the heat (which doesn't bother us much), and MNSSHP/F&W; I'm wondering any true advantages anymore to this time period vs early summer? While the crowd levels are listed a tad lower than we're used to, we're got getting a room discount (reg CBR room & surprised no AP discount), of course dates excluded from FD, hours are shorter (we're typically night owls), and you have the coordination of MNSSHP nights when not attending the party. Don't get me wrong, I'm super excited based on fulfilling bucket list items. But aside from that, guess I'm wondering the lure of fall vs early summer. The tad decrease in park levels is to me leveled out with the shorter hours. Guess I'm kinda leaning towards going back to early summer after this trip. But again, we're not there yet to fully assess. Maybe when we fall in love with our bucket list items, we'll be hooked too? What appeals to you most about fall when outside of FD?

The allure of fall isn't what it used to be. What used to be considered a slow time of year isn't so much anymore. Especially October. Many schools in the states now have fall breaks and those crowds at Disney really rival that of spring break these days.

Another thing was the free dining discount, but that's starting to thin as well.

Just got back from a kid-free trip, but heading back with our son October 12 - October 17. Staying at PCR and will have 4 days in the parks with one night at MNSSHP. Can't wait!

Just made a reservation for DD to get her first haircut at Harmony Barber Shop while we're there! What else can I do to bide my time until August lol I feel like everything is done except FP+.
