The Official "Meet & Eat" ADR Sharing Thread!

Hi, everyone! I posted the idea for an ADR sharing thread over on the September 2008 ADR Cancel/Trade thread, and it seems there's a least a handful of people who are interested! I don't have much time right now, but wanted to go ahead and set it up. I will come back later to add more information...

Basically, I'm envisioning a place where you can:

1) post looking for others to join you at popular restaurants for which you are unable to find an ADR for your party size. (Our personal frustration as a couple traveling to Disney World for several years has been trying to find ADRs at the more "family friendly" restaurants for 2 people, although I'm sure there are other circumstances with which I'm not familiar.)

2) post looking to set up "meet & eat"s to get to know other Dis'ers (e.g. Someone picks a date and restaurant, posts here looking for other interested groups, and then books an ADR for however many people decide to join them). This could be couples looking to meet other couples at a place like Rose & Crown (or Crystal Palace ), families with children looking to make a few friends at a place like Ohana, etc.

Anyway, here are the first few posts from the other thead:

...I always check availability at Tusker House for parties of 2/3/4 (We have family willing to join us for this one ADR, if need be), but have routinely been told there is nothing available for breakfast for ANY party size between September 20-27. We don't have the same option for Boma, but after discussing our frustration with the limited number of tables for two (especially at the non-signature dining establishments) in the World, DH and I have recently begun to consider the option of inviting people from the boards. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has actually done this and how it went (maybe I should start a thread?) At any rate, I think it would be neat if there were a "share this ADR with me" thread like the ones we have for specialty cruises. (I don't think there is one. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me!) While the concept certainly won't appeal to everybody, I'd be willing to bet there's a subgroup of folks like myself who would be willing to at least give it a try (especially if it made the difference between getting into a popular restaurant vs. not). Anyway, it's late, and I'm doing too much thinking out loud. Thanks for the advice!

I agree that there should be a thread for folks that are willing to spilt their table. Our parents are supposed to join us for a few days while we are at WDW but they may not be able to. So we may end up at a 4 top when there is only 2 of us...If the folks don't end up going, I will post the places that I am willing to share our table with our fellow disers.

I haven't shared a table before, but we are in September for a dinner at Ohana's. I've seen several (way back on this thread) asking if anyone would like to join them and they set it up. Sounds like a good idea if that's the only way we can get to eat where we want! Plus I'm sure it will be great meeting other Dis friends!

I think that is a wonderful Idea !! and I have to admit... we have a few ressie's for 4 and we are only 2 so I would be willing to share if you started a thread

I am sharing a lunch ressie with Bonzarella and Family at Coral Reef.. it is going to be way fun and what better way to meet your fellow Disser's

I think it is a great idea to share a ressie with other Dis'rs - It has really been tough getting ADRs and I had to help my Mom who at the last minute decided to go during the same time as us. I already had all of my ADRs made but was trying to either get a table of 6 or add a table of 2 - no luck for most of the ressies, then I had to try to make some separate ADRs for her & the table of 2 thing is quite hard. I would ask for table of 2, 3, 4, blah blah blah! So sharing a table is a great idea!!!!

I'm not sure if any of the interested folks from the Restaurants board have made it over here yet, but I wanted to copy part of my update post from the Sept. ADR Cancel/Trade thread just in case...

...I am hoping to get it moved back over here to the Restaurants board, as I feel like there may have been a simple misunderstanding about its purpose that caused it to be moved. Anyway, I just wanted [to] again express my appreciation to everyone who has posted and PM'ed me over the past couple of days to share their suggestions, ideas, and excitement about the possibilities.

I had hoped to have a much more exciting update tonight, but I have since taken to pleading for the thread's reinstation on the Restaurant board and answering PMs. I'll be back tomorrow. Please keep your fingers crossed that we get moved back so that hopefully this thread can really take off and help lots of folks get seatings that they would otherwise miss out on!
