The Official May 2015 Thread!!

Not in my experience. Have been there first few weeks of May the past 3 years & it has been nice. The crowd numbers I had from last years trips (as supplied by easyWDW) were in the 4,5,6 range. 90% 5s, with a 7 for SWW. Which seemed about right to me. Using the FP+s right we never waited more than 20 minutes for anything.

It's the back part of May with Presidents Day (??) you need to worry about.

Just want to chime in, FWIW, and put in another plug for easyWDW.com . I have found them to be more accurate than TouringPlans.

Early May should not be that high, and it's also early yet (in terms of park hours being released; they won't be finalized for some time yet and will likely be tweaked in the spring).

.

This will be our 3rd year in a row of traveling to Disney for the second week of May.

Weather has been perfect. Low 80's and very little rain.

Crowds have been about average. 5's and 6's most days.

The only time we really dealt with obscene crowds was when we went to HS for the first Friday of SWW. That was a madhouse!

We love traveling in May!

My thoughts on AOA. We stayed in the AOA LM rooms For Mardi Gras 2012 (their 2nd trip). It was myself, DH and out 2 boys. They were 5 and 3. We did not mind the walk at all. But, I had a friend with a 4 y.o. who complained the whole time. Have you seen all the statues around? I can't for the life of me see how someone could complain about it. We made it fun singing all the songs to the themes we passed. And the kids played in the tunnels etc. I'm smiling just thinking about it. I feel the values are the best place for little ones with all things to see. Before we knew it, we were back at out rooms. Keep in mind we return to the hotel for naps so we aren't overly tired. I wasn't impressed with the food court. Too elaborate for our taste.

On another note, our dates have changed. I'm almost not with you guys anymore. It will be 5-31 to 6-6. I have also joined the June group too. But, I can't get enough of Disney talk!

This excites me! My LO will be 3 when we arrive next year and your story has made me excited! We are in Cars, but we'll definitely still go and have a look around the other sections! Is it correct that the pool areas are gated so only AoA guests can use them? I only ask as I saw someone who wasn't a resort guest visit for food from the food court the other day and wondered how they'd got in there?!

AOA has gates around the pools yes -- at least they are around the Nemo pool.

But anyone can visit any of the resorts and walk around, eat in the food court, etc.

We were in AOA a few weeks ago and walked over to Pop for dinner. Very convenient! And we even took the Pop bus back twice and walked over to AOA because it was a short walk to the Nemo rooms and the Pop bus arrived before the AOA bus. :)

Can I join you? We are planning for May 3-9 at AOA. We are a party of 6 so we will need a suite, but my kids can't agree on a theme (story of my life lol). I've only been to WDW in December so I'm looking forward to spring in Disney. Is it too hot/humid in May? I have a few health issues and don't do so well if I get overheated.

Sure! Welcome aboard. :cool1: I've got you added!

Sorry it took me so long to get everyone added! It has been a super busy week and a half. School started, my son is waiting on MRI results for a football injury, and I have joined my friend in her travel agency booking Disney trips! I'm just a little excited about the last one! I think I have everyone added, changed or otherwise. Let me know if I accidently over looked you.

:banana:266 days to go!!!

I have found May to be wonderful. It's just starting to get a bit humid, but it's not unbearable like it will be in summer!! Temps tend to run in the 80s, and there is always a threat of an afternoon thunder-boomer, but they don't usually last too long. It's certainly warm enough to swim, but I don't find it overbearing (and I have a health issue that has recently made me heat-sensitive as well).

I can't wait to make adrs, I am so excited for our trip to come!!! We have 251 days to go :)

Me, too!! :cool1:
Do you know what adrs you want?
We originally planned to go in late jan/early feb but switched to late april/early may- being from the northeast we got concerned about weather issues w/ flying there and back so switched to a spring trip. This will be our 2nd time to WDW- last yr (nov 2013) was our 1st time & we are definateley hooked!! Now...to try and decide on a resort...lol...everytime I think I have it figured out i read more posts and look at more pictures and keep changing my mind! :dance3:

Me too! I really want Chef Mickey or Cape May breakfast for my son. Akershus or Park Fare for my daughters. I'd love to get BOG but I know that's a tough one.

The key to BOG is persistence!

For our last trip, I checked for an opening several times a day (via the phone MDE app). It didn't happen till our trip was about a month away, but a dinner reservation popped up!

We're planning on ADRs for Crystal Palace, Akershus Royal Hall, Tusker House, and Hollywood & Vine. :cloud9:

Here are my list of ADR's:

Chef Mickey Dinner
1900 Park Fare Dinner
Crystal Palace Breakfast
Akershus Dinner
Hollywood and Vine Breakfast
50's Prime Time Lunch
Be Our Guest Dinner
Ohana's Breakfast

Okay so we are going to stay at All Star Movies resort, and we want to eat breakfast at Ohana's then go to Epcot right afterwards. What would be the best way to get to Ohana's and then over to epcot. We do not have a car and we are only going to use Disney world Transportation.

Thanks! :)

I would suggest taking the Magic Kingdom bus and then hopping on the monorail to Ohana. You can then take the monorail to Epcot after breakfast.

Double check the monorail operating times!!

When we were there a few weeks ago, we discovered that the monorail wasn't operating until 9:30! We were all excited to take the monorail and, therefore, drove to the TTC....only to end up having to take a bus to the Magic Kingdom for our breakfast at Crystal Palace.

I'd give yourself an hour's travel time, too. For example, if your reservation is for 9am, then I'd leave the resort at 8am.

Jut found this group we'll be joining you for May 19-27.

Just booked our stay at AoA Little Mermaid rooms  It's a bit of a splurge for us but DD who will be 4 at the time of our trip will love it. This is DH and my second trip to the world and her first. Last time we stayed off property so we're super excited to be in the middle of all the magic. I've started a PTR which has the layout for our trip and which dining reservations i'm hoping to catch. So far we have Akershus, Tusker House, H&V, BOG lunch, Crystal Palace, Kona and 50's Prime Time.

After booking I realized that our trip overlaps Memorial Day, anyone been during this time? Is it busy?

Hello everyone. I am making my first post on the Disboards because I have booked my first ever trip to Disney World. At the age of 35 I am finally going to Disney World!

I will be checking in at Art of Animation on May 8, 2015 and checking out on May 17th.

I have been a die hard Disney fan my entire life, and Disney got me through some VERY rough times in my life. I am excited to finally have an opportunity to go see Epcot and The Magic Kingdom!
