The Official MARCH 2012 Thread! Countdown to Spring Break TOGETHER!!

I would like to get sort of a count on who plans to attend the Dismeet.

March 8th
POR Yeeha Bob show at River Roost Lounge
9:00 pm - ??? (whenever you get sick of us :rotfl: )

If you plan to attend please let me know, and also how many children you will be bringing with you. I will also be happy to PM my cell # to you if you would like to have it for WDW communication.

Thanks!

I already posted on the FB group, but so other people will know that it isn't just you attending ... I'll post here, too. :lmao:

I'll be there with a geeky-DH (who will need some geeky friends) and my two kids. DD10 and DS5. :thumbsup2

I can't stand it anymore - I'm digging out the suitcases today and starting to pack! One month from today we are off :) My parents are there right now and said that the crowds are super low - here's hoping they stay that way :goodvibes

Ok I was going to wait a week or so but I'm going to start packing toiletries TODAY! I have a whole day free to myself without interruptions and I'm going to go for it! :yay:

We will be arriving at 'home' on March 3rd so we are officially less than a month out! If it weren't for darn Leap year it would be a day less :rotfl2:

And I don't know about you all, but I don't count as 'days': the current date, as in today. Today is partly over! And I don't count the day of the trip, since when that clock turns 12:00 AM it's officially THE day! So my 'days' are actually 2 days early...hey it's pathetic but if it helps I go for it! So our actual days are I think 26 or 27.

Huzzah for starting to pack! :woohoo:

Where are you staying? We arrive on the 3rd as well! :goodvibes

getting closer!!!!! When is everyone going to start packing??? And have you made a packing list yet? Anything special this first timer needs to bring?

I've not made a packing list yet, but hoping to work on it sometime this weekend, as well as a shopping list! I'll probably pack the week before, with the majority of it being a few days before.

I highly recommend medicines. Pepto, Tylenol, etc. Extra batteries, chargers for electronics. If you google WDW packing list, there are some really great ones out there! I always bring a first aid kit.. MOLE SKIN! I highly recommend something for blisters. I got my first blister(s) on my 3rd vacation! So I was thankful that I had brought supplies. :thumbsup2

Don't forget your undies, socks, and PJs. They're usually the items I'm tossing into the suitcase last because I forget about them. :lmao:

When we surprised our kids in May, I'd slowly pack their clothes and items. When they asked for specifics, I just told them that it must be in the laundry. I also bought them tons of new clothes specifically for the trip (which made a lot of packing easier, since they didn't know they owned it). I also kept the suitcases in my bedroom and kids aren't allowed in there. :thumbsup2 The only problem I had was with DD's suitcase. It usually stayed in her room, so when it went missing, she noticed it pretty quick. I think I just told her that I wanted to keep the luggage better organized or something. But when it got closer, we were able to tell them the luggage was being used for Uncle Ben, since we had to help him move after he got married.

So in the meantime, make a laundry pile, clear out a drawer or something to hide stuff, whatever works best for your household. :goodvibes And you can always buy new shirts, PJs, etc. It'll add to the surprise to not only get a trip, but new clothes, too! :cool1:

Add me to the list! We're coming for a bit of an impromptu trip!:cheer2:

My parents always go for spring break, and I decided that for what it would cost to tag along, it was worth it!:rolleyes1

We're planning a no-parks trip. We don't have any kids or anything, so it will be very relaxing. We'll be somewhere DVC -- BCV and SSR, most likely (BCV studio is already booked for Mom and Dad, so I think I'll probably be in SSR studio. They'll drive down so we have a car). I'll be flying standby, so I am hoping to arrive 3/24 and depart 3/31, but we'll see how that goes! I look forward to escaping spring in Minnesota!:cool1:

Wishing everyone happy planning... can't wait to check in as it gets closer!

Well, we just filed our taxes and rather than getting a bunch of money back, which is what we expected since we were both overwithheld, we owe a lot of money:headache:. Looks like we will be driving from Dallas to Orlando this time! Luckily the trip is paid off and we have the dining plan, and we have saved just enough to cover the basic expenditures, so I think it'll work out, but we may have to skip Universal, which will really upset the kids... its just so expensive! Still really excited to go, just kinda bummed :guilty:

Liddy, you are BRILLIANT!!! I too have been wanting to start packing so bad! Clean out a drawer to put stuff in...YES! :cool1: I can totally start getting things pulled together now, because I know just the drawer...:thumbsup2

Time is FLYING!!! Here I am 3 weeks out and there is so much that needs to be done. Getting giddy!!! Now to survive the next few weeks at work without my brain going into vacation mode too soon lol :)

I know I'm brilliant. Thanks for telling the world. :thumbsup2

Glad you found a way to pack and get things organized. :goodvibes

New to the forum and so very glad I found it :goodvibes

We are taking our first trip to Disney World March 4-9. I finally have our itenirary fairly final though with two small kids we are being very flexible. We are spending four days at the parks. No parkson our arrival or departure dates because of the long drive :)
Monday Animal Kingdom with morning EMH and Tusker House for lunch at 2:15
Tuesday Hollywood Studios and the 50s diner at 1:45 for lunch
Wednesday Magic Kingdom and CRT at 9:25 for breakfast
Thursday is up in the air as we don't really think we are going to do Epcot, we will likely go back to MK unless we change our minds. We have dinner reservations at the table service restaurant at our resort, but I am still debating that one

I am trying not to over plan because I know with the kids we will have to adjust for their needs.

:welcome: to the DIS!

Where are you staying? Our dates overlap (I arrive a day earlier than you) and will be at CBR. We'll be at AK on Monday as well. :thumbsup2 We have an earlier ADR at TH (11:15). There's going to be a ton of DISers at Epcot on Thursday (hint hint -- in case you want to join us). There's also a DISmeet on Thursday night at 9pm at OPR to see YeeHa Bob. :goodvibes

Let us know if you have any questions! We're all anxiously waiting for March to roll around! :woohoo:

My family and I are booked for March 6-13. We are staying at the Floridian. So excited!

:cheer2: Ok you guys made me feel so much better. I thought I was the only one packing 21 days before the trip. My husband is looking at me like I am crazy.

This is our 20th Anniversary & my 41st Birthday trip. March is the midpoint of both. We will arrive on March 4th. We are staying at Wyndham Bonnet Creek,. This will be only our 2nd trip to see the mouse (the last was 2006). This is our first time without our 4 kids. And our first time offsite. I am soooooo excited :cheer2::banana::dance3::cheer2:.
