The official low cost, high satisfaction, DVC perk idea thread

I know that your answer was "tongue in cheek" but a really great perk would be a late night once a quarter (or once a month) for DVC members. I'd settle for once or twice a year! :thumbsup2

I'll take it ... see I'm just that easy;)

Well, there is soon to be DVC resorts on both coasts. Why not the ability to purchase annual passes that are good for both Disneyland AND Disneyworld

I really love this one. I do buy an annual pass as I make it to WDW several times a year. I would love to do a DLR trip especially with the Haunted Mansion anniversary coming up. It would be great to be able to use my WDW pass there.

Totally also agree on discounted MYW tix. We live in the NE as well and the college kids make it down once a year. What a savings to be able to buy a 10 day non-expiring at a true discount.

I am a big pin collector and would love to be able to get 10% off at all shopping venues, not just the WOD.:dance3:

I too wish there was daily mousekeeping. I was recently at WDW for 7 days with my sister and her two teenage girls. We stayed in a studio and boy could we have used daily service!

I wonder where the idea of dropping mousekeeping came up? From a business and marketing standpoint, that person should be fired. I realize that some guests don't mind not having it, but then again, no one would mind it if it was reinstated. The only people who are upset about mousekeeping are those who are using it as an excuse not to buy into DVC. In other words, in an effort to save a few bucks, Disney is turning off a lot of would-be DVC owners.
I'm sure because DVC is a timeshare and not a hotel system. Timeshares in the US rarely have daily maid service and even a midweek service of any type of relatively uncommon. It's a cost thing as well, dues would be 12-15% or more higher if there were daily maid service. Personally I'd rather not have it and definitely don't want to pay for it. Anyone can get it now that wants, just pay for play.

DH and I have been taking 4 vacations a year to Disney since we purchased DVC 5 years ago. During this time we have unintentionally began eating more and more in our rooms. We would eat more at the theme parks but there just isn’t a discount at most places. When you spend a total of $90.00 for two people to eat at the theme parks in one day vs. paying that for a total of one weeks groceries the decision is a no brainer. I love Disney restaurants and would love to eat more at the theme parks. If Disney were to have a great discount for DVC members at all eating areas I think they would find more DVCer's eating out and not in their rooms so much.

Another perk I would love to see is a discount on merchandise no matter where at Disney you are. Why does it have to be at DTD only? Wouldn’t it make more sense to give the discount in the parks when your kids are in the 'I want that now" mode? I know DH and I shop at the stores in the parks constantly and see things we would buy instantly if they had a discount. But we instead wait until we maybe get to DTD and look for it then.

A 7-month booking window for restaurant for DVCers is a great idea. Disney doesn’t have to allow the restaurants to be entirely booked up by DVCers but could instead have just so many seats for DVCers at the 7 month window.

I would also like to see the discount for special events such as MNSSHP and MVMCP discount nights have a bigger discount than they do. It really isn’t much incentive to book those particular nights.

How about perks related to things Disney must do:
1.) Reservations made from the day you check in instead of the day you check out.Bye bye day by day calling to ensure you get your reservation.
2.) Immediate room assignments when you make your reservation. It can be done!!! The technology exists. Just think, no more hearing people complain about not getting their 8 different requests. Tell me the front desk staff wouldn't LOVE that:cool1: And members would be happy, instead of stressing about what room they will be assigned.

As long as we're dreaming...discounts on MYW tickets, more dining discounts, online reservations, to name a few. ;)

Discount on MYW since I won't have a need for AP, upgraded DVC Fastpass, and additional, even if minor, discounts on shopping outside DTD.

I agree with MYW discounts. That would be super. How about the ability to purchase the DDE? We don't always have the need to buy AP's.

I would like to see a discount on 10 day nonexpiring tickets. I no longer have to search for a room discount, and I am now getting tired of searching for the best price for tickets. I just want to buy from Disney and know I am getting a DVC discount.

DVC members should be able to purchase DDE card. We don't want DDP because we use our kitchen for 1 or 2 meals, but would eat out more with DDE and not feel a need to do a park commando style to keep up with the DDP.

I would love a few fastpasses at check-in. These would feel like receiving gold to us.

I like not having mousekeeping every day.

This thread has been a fun way to pass the time until Member Services opens this morning, so I can book our next trip. Thanks, keep the ideas coming.

Just give me free park hopping, that is all the ticket discount I would want.

I'd like to see them offer up free dining to DVC members. The general public get its, I'd like a slice of that pie as well! ;)

I'd also like discounts on room reservations. I know I'm not the only one who has decided to take a (DVC time) last minute trip to find there is "no room at the inn". I don't really want spend the crazy number of points it would take to stay at the Poly or BC, so I'll pony up the cash. It would be great if they could extend me a discount at a deluxe or even moderate or value resort when I call MS to find that there are no DVC rooms available.

You must be a FL resident or have an AP to get DDE. If you buy the AP at the DVC discount, that allows you to purchase a DDE card.

DVC guests can't get DDE?

You have to have an AP to get the DDE card. Making it available with just your DVC card would be a great idea.

As for more/better perks, as long as DVC sells well, I don't see any incentive for Disney to offer much more than we already get. If the economy really does go south (or farther south) and sales falter, we'll probably see a LOT more goodies offered. But I don't really want that to be the reason why we'd get more perks.

I have to admit, though, free dining WOULD be pretty nifty. But I'm really NOT counting on this one.

I would love to see discounts on tickets other than just the ap. My family is never there more than once a year so we don't purchase ap's.

Maybe they could do a flat 10% discount on the cost of length of stay type passes and STILL offer the good AP rate. I would love that -but don't expect it.

I would also like to see a discount at the world of disney store and or other stores. Not much - again 10%. It would be more of a simple thank-you for your loyalty than some HUGE discount.

But like it has been said before - these are just perks and not something that would make me buy in if i weren't already a member.

Just things I personally would like - since the question was asked.

Lots of luck with that, the reason the "public" gets it is to fill hotel rooms during off times. Even then they have to pay full price during times when room discounts are rampant, have a min of 3 days AND buy a ticket for each person.

I'd love to see DVC lounges in the parks, similar to the AP lounges they had a few summers ago.

Those AP lounges were the BEST! I have a pic of DH sleeping on the couch at the one in The Land pavilion.

So, to recap, I am getting the sense that...
1) We are split on the mousekeeping issue.
2) Everyone would like more discounts, in general.
3) Everyone would like more park ticket discounts.
4) There are a few other issues floating around that we haven't seen enough people chime in on yet.

I don't think most threads on this subject have been very split in the past, at least taking costs into account.
