The Official LOST Season Five *No Spoilers* Thread

One of the previews for an upcoming episode said that Kate has to convice Jack to help save Ben's life. Everyone was assuming it was old Ben. I am now thinking it is the young Ben she is trying to save and Jack doesn't want anything to do with it- either he wants him dead, or he is worried it will blow their cover.

I specifically didn't post about that here, cuz I think it's a spoiler.
I agree with crazy time theory girl  that they cannot change the future. The past has already happened.

Remember Ethan? We know that he existed from the first season. Yet if the losties hadn't came across Amy and saved her, she would have likely been shot by the hostiles and thus no Ethan. So the losties in fact helped to create the future that they knew and had already experienced.

Now take Ben. We saw Sayid shoot him. But I can't buy that he is dead because we know that he was alive for the purge in 92 and also the crash in 2004, etc.

The universe does course correct. Ben is not suppose to die therefore something will happen to course correct Sayid's actions. Either Juliet will save him or the others, or the island or something.

Also, does anyone else think that Amy knows something? She gave Sawyer a weird look when they were voting. Also when Juliet was there to deliver her baby she had no problems kicking the doctor out and having a 'mechanic' deliver Ethan for her.

:thumbsup2 A course correct is the universe continuing to kill Charlie. And the only time we should see a correction is if it has to deal with Desmond since he is the only one that is exempt from the rules.

Young Ben can't die, it would completely unravel the entire show and make it all boring! lol

I called Sayid shooting little Ben about 20 minutes or so before he did it. I finally guessed something right on LOST. :rotfl: Hey, it's not much, but with my track record, I will take anything that I can get.

I think Ben is alive, for now. How weird would it be if Jack had to save his life twice? :rotfl2:

The previews showed them all being locked up in a house. Why? Are they under suspicion now? What will happen if they are found out?

I loved Sawyer last night "Been here for 3 years and no exploding buses, ya'll are here for 1 day!!!" :lmao:
"Should have used half a dropper" from weird guy. :happytv:

I said, either he thinks he's there to kill him or set him on his path with the hostiles...hmmm...he's gonna try to kill him. And then after he shot him, I was all like, "dude, either shot him in the head a few times (like a zombie) or bury his body, cuz somehow he's gonna survive with only one little shot." lol

I loved those lines and the "A young Benjamin Linus just gave me a sandwich" line--I was laughing so hard for that one that I missed the next couple of lines!

And everything unraveling for Sawyer bugs me a bit since I was really hoping he's turn out to be a better leader than Jack.

I really think that the Losties are going to turn Ben into the evil (awesome) guy he becomes.

Oh! and the line from Sayid when he was high..."Ask Sawyer (looking at Sawyer)" and Horace, "Who the hell is Sawyer?" and the stupid jerky hatch guy, "who cares?" That was classic!

GOOD GUESS!!! You were close. ;) However, Sayid likes to torture and cause incredible amounts of pain with people. This guy (was he one of the Daryl's from the Newhart Show?) just gets you tripping on some real good stuff!!:lmao:

I wasn't to shocked that Sawyer raised his hand. He had to. To go against every single one of them? That would have raised some serious red flags. I think he hated doing it but Sayid forced his hand. He gave him more then enough chances to play the game and stay safe, but instead he has to go and do this stuff. Really hating on Sayid right now.:sad2: He would have everyone of his 'friends' killed? Because that is exactly what he is doing, putting their lives in danger and he doesn't seem to really care.

Daryl from Newhart? :lmao: Are you serious?

Yea, but Sayid probably feels the same way - that no one cares. He is having to take all the punishment while everyone else plays house and is nice and comfortable.
I really think that the Losties are going to turn Ben into the evil (awesome) guy he becomes.

OOO, how ironic. That might explain why Ben was so cold to all of them. Because he knew what they had done to him as a child.

Daryl from Newhart? :lmao: Are you serious?
What? Yes, I'm serious. :rotfl: He looked like him. Oh, wait. Was it Larry? "I'm Larry and this is my brother Darryl and my other brother Darryl." Remember? :lmao:

Sawyer gave him plenty of chances to play nice. He refused to. Not sure what the heck he thinks he can do all alone in the jungle with the hostiles running around. Playing house with Dharma sounds alot more comfortable and inviting.

I said almost the EXACT same thing, except I thought that they guy last night was Larry...with the brother named Daryl and the other brother named Daryl. It was the voice that gave it away. He didn't look much the same at all.

Suzi

Exactly. That's why Ben kept calling Sayid a killer...I think it explains his know-it-all attitude better than having files on each person--he actually met them before!

Found this on another Lost forum, they were talking about how Eloise Hawking said that the universe course-corrects:

Just throwing out another theory......

But wouldn't that contradict Daniel's "Whatever happens, happens" claim? Not that I buy into that, mind you.

Do we know for sure that whatever happened on the island that causes people to heal quickly has already happened? I was thinking about Amy and how she had no problems carrying her child to term. There will later be something on the island that causes the immune system's of pregnant women to get sick. But I wonder if that same factor also makes normal people heal quicker.

Yep, William Anderson was Larry, the man with two brothers with the same first name. He also played the mayor and hotel proprietor on Deadwood. I have trouble seeing him in another role and not expecting the two brothers to follow him into any scene. :rotfl2:

I'm not sure it was something that happened that causes some people to heal quickly or if it is just a property of the island itself. Juliet was told that they were having infertility problems but when she was there it was more of the gestation problem that you described. I think that happens later like maybe during the purge or the 'incident'?

What was the title of the book that Ben gave Sayid? I saw it, but forgot. Something about time.

Got it! A Separate Reality by Carlos Castenada

Can any one give a cliff note synopsis? Sounds interesting popcorn::

Yup, the voice was what made me remember him. He looks a lot older, but that makes sense since that show at least 15years ago.

I think Ben survives. I didn't like how awful his dad is, and that nobody in the Dharma group stops his dad from being such a jerk.

I missed last week's episode, so I watched it online before the new episode last night. It was nice to get watch 2 hours of new stuff in one shot. I'm really wondering why nobody has mentioned Rose, Bernard and the others? I'd have thought they would have been mentioned. I wonder if next week will be more about Sun.

I can't imagine he's dead because the island could heal him, right? I'm with the rest of you, I felt so bad for Sayid, but was a little mad at him when he knocked Jin out.

It's interesting that Sawyer and Juliet are taking the attitude that they don't really appreciate the other survivors coming back for them. :confused3 After all that build up of getting them there, it's so anti climactic!
What I can't figure out is nobody seems to have a clue as to what to do now? Okay, the Losties are all back in 1977, now what? They all just seem content to live in Dharma village doing their menial jobs. Nobody has even asked "How do we get home???". They didn't ask it before they got on Ajira 316 and they haven't asked it since they got back to the island.

But Sayid has another purpose now...to kill Benjamin Linus. Sayid did not get on Ajira 316 on his own accord. He had no intentions of going back to the island to save the Losties. It's probably why he appeared on the island in a different place than Jack, Hurley and Kate.

Anyway, Sayid is still trying to save his friends. In his mind, by killing young Ben Linus, he has just saved all those people that Ben will kill or have killed in the future. Including the people that Sayid killed for Ben.

But wouldn't that contradict Daniel's "Whatever happens, happens" claim? Not that I buy into that, mind you.

See, that's what I can't understand - why do people (not just on the DIS but on the other Lost forum I read) believe that "whatever happens, happens" is the gospel truth, written in stone, total fact? Just because Daniel said it, doesn't mean it's true. Can't Daniel be wrong about something? Look at the girl who's stuck in a coma (can't remember her name right now) - we've pretty much assumed that she's one of Daniel's experiments that didn't quite work. Daniel was wrong about something; why can't he be wrong about "whatever happened, happened"??

And don't forget - Daniel was on Widmore's freighter, his research was bankrolled by Widmore, and Daniel's mother (Eloise) was working for Ben (and her whereabouts known by Widmore, so maybe she's working both sides). Just because Daniel is the typical scatter-brained scientist doesn't mean that HE might be trying to manipulate people, too.

Just imagine if Ben survives and being shot by some guy he trusted makes him UBER evil instead of sad and scared; which helps lead to the creepy adult Ben.

Daniel isn't really what leads me to that. The episode with Desmond when he tried to change his past with Penny is what leads me back to the fate aspect and that no matter what he did Charlie had to die. Also they are going to be dealing with a ton of messy messy paradoxes if they go down this past...if Ben is dead then Sayid never would have met him in the future and would have no reason to kill him sort of things.

Yep, this my biggest gripe about the Losties - NOBODY ASKS ANY QUESTIONS! When Eloise was telling Jack, Sun and Ben about how to get back to the island, none of them asked "how do we get OFF the island again?" I certainly would have expected Sun to ask, since she obviously left Ji Yeon somewhere - doesn't she want to find Jin and get back to their little girl?

And when Kate, Jack and Hurley flashed back to 1977, Kate made the comment to Jack about Eloise: "that woman who told you how to get back - did she mention it would be 1977?" And Jack just shook his head and said "no".

I can sort of understand Sawyer, Jin, Juliet and Miles living contentedly with Dharma - they had experienced all the time flashes, ended up in the past when Locke left and moved the wheel, so they figure once Locke gets back then he'll tell them how to get back to the present.

Ok, so if Desmond is "special" and the "rules" don't apply to him (as Daniel stated), WHY couldn't he change his past with Penny??? Why couldn't Desmond stop Charlie's death?

I just finished watching it on the West Coast.

My understanding was that east coast could start talking before its over. I always make sure not to read new posts until after the show is over.

Wow what an episode! Poor Sayid - tortured soul is the perfect description for him.

Just FYI, I don't open the thread either. I'm the last group to get the show, LMAO...Hawaii Standard Time!! (6 hrs later than the east coast) So go ahead and discuss and I don't read it until after I watch the show and you guys are all in bed LOL!

because daniel isn't as smart as he apears :rotfl: He's just not the one I listen to for the clues, I listen to his mom.
