I think further proof of this is how Juliet "looks like that woman" from Ben's childhood. Who else would he care for except that one that acted most like a mother and helped to save his life (that he can remember).

The only exception to the timetravel rule is Desmond. Because of him, there will be a gamechanger that is truly shocking, or possibly even the shocking endgame.

You just hit the nail on the head. You're right. It can't affect their future, because the individuals are in the present. But it did affect the future of everyone else left in 2004. That's where it all gets confusing. Since 2004 Losties jumped back in time, their actions will affect the future that they just left. And what happens to them? They cease to exist in the future, which means for now there are two sets of Jack, Hurley, Kate and Sayyid, their younger selves somewhere else off the island and their older selves. So unless the older versions snap back to 2004, there's a paradox at work.

The older versions don't have to "snap" back to 2004; they have already lived 2004. 2004 has come and gone for them. If they live through the purge, and I'm not sure they will, by the time 2004 comes they will be 30 years older. So that part of the story is done. However when their second, younger selves finally get to 2004, they are stepping on that plane at the ages they were when the show started.

I loved this episode! I loved getting some answers, finding out about Aaron and Kate's purpose on the island. Now we just need to know Jack's and Hurley's.

Sorry!! I forgot that you guys asked! Yes, it's a girl (we just found out last week). Lilliana Elizabeth is healthy and kicking and adorable.

That totally contradicts the situation with Charlie's impending death. Desmond kept trying to save him, but he was doomed to eventually die, so we changed how he got there, but the end result is the same.

Do not put too much faith in the writers. They're playing fast and furious with the rules. Everything works one way, except for Desmond, it works another way? I absolutely do not believe that Hurley and Miles conversation happens the same way each time. There's a hole there big enough to walk through, as we look at all the changes that Kate, Jack, Hurley and Sayyid caused by showing up in the past.

Desmond is exempt from the rules. Daniel (the voice of the writers)told him this. Because Des is exempt, he can influence time. Des is a way for the writers to fix things they've screwed up over 4 seasons of not knowing the show's end date. There are plenty of ways for them to manipulate things without breaking their own rules.

I put a LOT of faith in the writers. You can believe whatever you want. We have seen NO CHANGES caused by the Losties. Exactly what happened in your new 2004 that didn't happen in the one we saw for the last 4 seasons?

Sayid shot him in the left chest, and yet when Sawyer and Kate are carrying Ben thru the jungle to Richard, it sure looked to me like Ben's wound was now on his right chest? (At least that's where all the blood seemed to be.) Could they have made a mistake in filming?

My DH read about this and we re-watched it and we believe that the director just made a mistake.

He also read a spoiler page and told me he knew who Jacob was!!!!! I told him to SHUT-UP or else he would be sleeping in the barn for a week!!!!!

I am finally able to come back and talk about this weeks episode! I thought it was a really good episode. And I cried like a baby when Kate was leaving Aaron. It was a hard scene to watch. It was difinitely an "answer" epdisode and I think we really needed one. I cannot wait for next week!!!

This should be one interesting finale.

I didn't get the part where Sawyer and Kate gave Ben to Eyeliner man...what exactly were they going to tell his father? They never made any comments about getting Ben back,etc?? And the comments about him losing his innocence and never being the same??

I missed the VERY beginning...what did Sawyer say to Kate in the helo?

I know, I was trying to figure out how that conversation is going to go. Gee, we just brought Ben over to the hostiles and left him there. They are no going to be happy when they discover this. I also couldn't understand why they didn;t ask when they could get him back.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to young Ben now. Will Richard patch him up and send him back to the Dharma folks? Remember when the Others/Hostiles gassed the DI, Ben was wearing a Dharma jumpsuit when he got in the van with his dad and killed him. Unless THIS is something in the past that CAN be changed without affecting the future?? In the "original" purge, Ben was still part of Dharma when he helped kill them off. But in the "altered" purge, Ben came in as one of the Others/Hostiles to kill them off. The circumstances differed, but the outcome was the same: Dharma was wiped out.

Am I getting better at understanding the "what happened, happened" thing?

I don't remember an alternate purge. When was this shown?

Yeah! And our precious Losties are the ones that did it to him!! Which I've been saying for weeks now!

I also think "The Incident" will bring the Losties back to the future (hehe) and they won't be around for the purge. And next season will start with everyone back in 2007.

I don't remember it was exatly, but it could have just been a continuitly error.

I cried when she started singing "catch a falling star". That was the song Claire said that her dad (Christian) sang to her and she wanted the potential adoptive parents to sing it to Aaron.

I'm sure we'll hear more about Rose and Bernard. I don't think we're ever supposed to assume anything...lol...we can guess and speculate, but the show is awesome for tying up loose ends. I think their story would make a really sad (probably boring) filler episode--I'm not sure they can carry one by themselves. I hope we don't just get a quick, "oh wow, Rose and Bernard are Adam and Eve from the cave" thing or something similar...they deserve more than that! Nikki and Paulo had a whole episode! lol

This would follow along with the writers rules that the events that happened will happen (possibly in a different way, but they will happen). It also explains why those who were on the island before where having problems when they were flashing times and existing in the same time frame (past and present) on the island at the same time. So you don't have to worry about little losties and present day losties exisiting together in 1977. This might also explain why Ben did not come with them to 1977. I hope this helps a little.

No, it is 1977 in "the real world" as well. Remember, Dharma is shipping people into the island still. There are definitely 2 of each Lost character who traveled back in time, on their timeline, dependent on the year of course, spawned by the act of time travel.

Sun, Ben, et al just happened to land on the island in present time instead of traveling back. That is why there is only one of each of them.

OT - well kinda.

To my lostie fans. I had the weirdest dream last night about Lost. I tell you this show is consuming me.

Anyway, I dreamed we moved into this house on the side of this mountain near the jungle. One day the kids and I were walking through the jungle (LOL) and came across this building. The SWAT team was there and was about to break into the building because the SMOKE MONSTER was in there. They knocked a hole in the wall and the smoke monster was about to come out and the leader of the swat team was trying to tell me all about what the SM was and where it originated and then...
