They will love the novelty, I am sure! To prepare, go over security procedure ahead of time. The first time the conveyor belt "ate" my dd's carry on there were tears! Also, talk about who will sit where ahead of time. Window and parent are coveted by my 2oldest, so we plan how to take turns. Pack tons of snacks, lollipops for ascent and descent (gum can be messy), and if your airline does not have TV in back of seats, plan to bring something to watch videos on. I also find stickers a lifesaver(we have a toddler).

I'm glad you mentioned about the security! I thought about that and have forgotten to mention it to my kids. We are flying with them for the first time this Saturday! They are 4 and 6. We normally drive but due to time constraints this year we are flying. I was also told to try gummie bears or fruit snacks instead of gum.

OMG. I'm freaking out a little bit. DH and I just decided to surprise DD and leave the night before we planned. We'll drive down to Gainesville and spend the night so we get to the world early on arrival day to meet friends who are flying in. She's going to be thrilled but now I'm down to just 9 days.

How am I still not ready after 6 months of planning?

So, on a bizarre note... Today when I went to get our mail, there in the package area was my originally mailed magic bands that had gone missing!!! I have already received the second set and decorated them. These are now just souvenirs. But no note or information on the package, it was just there. UGH!!! Not a fan of USPS right now...

Well, at least you have some souvenirs ;) All the problems you and others have been having is exactly why I went to UPS yesterday to mail my mom and sisters their Magic Bands. They were all sent to me since my name is on the reservation, and the ME info said they should have their bands when they get to the ME counter, so I had to mail them. It cost me $30, but it was worth it to know I could track them and count on them getting there on time!!!

I also wanted to ask some advice from our July TEAM :) We currently have a Crystal Palace reservation for 8:10am. My sister is able to join us for a few days now, so I called to add her, and since we'd have 5 people now they would have to change our reservation time to 8:25. I said I'd call back.... How much of a difference will this really make in getting to Fantasyland before 9:00? Is "rope drop" happening earlier now that they're doing the whole Anna and Elsa follow the rope walk thing? We are all adults, so as much as we love seeing the characters, we won't feel tied to CP until every character makes its rounds. I know it's only 15 minutes different, but the last time we went to CP we didn't even get seated until 15 minutes after our ADR time. Any thoughts? Thanks :) :) I can't believe my countdown app says 8 days!!!!!:banana:

We're looking at the distinct possiblity of a LIRR strike on July 20. No big deal for us-- we're both teachers in Nassau-- EXCEPT that I booked an outgoing flight out of LaGuardia on 7/29. JFK would be a WHOLE lot easier in the event of a strike, with the exponential increase in traffic. Hmmm... I wonder about the odds of switching a Jetblue flight to JFK. Even with a slight increase in fares, or an earlier departure time, it might be easier. I think I'll mosey on to the Jetblue site.

I saw that on the news yesterday about the LIRR strike possibility on 7/20. That is still 11 days away and anything can happen. Try to think positively...also, your flight is 9 days later and there is a very good chance the strike could be over by then. A few years back the MTA went on strike and it didn't last more than a few days...maybe 2 or 3. But yes, JFK would ultimately be easier if the strike is going on at that point. I hope things work out and there is no strike!

There is a super cute Curious George episode where he goes on his first flight. It is adorable and he goes through security check and everything. My kids loved it when they were little as they learned all they need to know from the monkey LOL...but they wanted to ride on the luggage conveyor belt like George did. hehe

Season 1, Episode 22 "Curious George Takes a Vacation"
"George and The Man with the Yellow hat are going on vacation in Hawaii. But when they get to the airport, their plane is delayed. George receives a small toy airplane from the ticket woman but winds up losing it. He goes on a quest to try to hunt it down before they must board their flight but it seems like everyone in the airport is out to stop George from wandering around or causing trouble."

Also do the kids need birth certificates bc they don't have ids?

As many times as we have flown, the kids have never needed their birth certificates.

They will ask them their names and my son and daughter have been asked questions now that they are a little older like where they live or where they are going, etc.

Calling all well wishes for our next trio of travelers...

I do not have any actual experience with pre-opening ADRs but I have been seeing several people reporting on the restaurant threads that even with an 8:25 ADR if you show up at 8:00 and are one of the first people at CP that you will be seated right away. I don't know how accurate the information is. We will be having our first pre-opening ADR at CRT at 8:10am and I am hoping that we will be seated right away.

From what I have been reading it appears that the opening show is occurring at 8:40am on non-EMH days and then people are being let in when the show is over.

8 days how exciting!! We are right behind you with 11 days!!

Thanks! I ended up switching it to 8:25 because I weighed the pros and cons and figured losing a few minutes of park time was better than A. being turned away for having an extra person or B. trying to cram 5 very tall adults into their small 4 person tables :). Now that they're leading the mob in a little earlier, I don't think it would've been much of an 'advantage' anyway? I know CP historically seats people later than their ADR times, so we'll just roll the dice and see what happens! The phone CM acted like I was nuts hesitating to change it over a difference of only 15 minutes, haha!! I might keep checking periodically to see if anything earlier opens up, but I feel better knowing that we have the right number of people listed now :)

Single digit dance today!!!

We hit the road in 9 days! We're so excited!! We check in at BWV in 11 days but we count the morning we leave the house as the first day of vacation! :)

Hot hot hot here today! Very sunny all morning then the skies opened up right before the 3:00 parade. Oh well. Back at Port Orleans trying to decide if the thunder will stop to jump in the pool or should we just go to Epcot and eat at Tutto Gusto! Decisions decisions!

Big decision to think about, fellow travelers, is if you really want to go to DTD on your trip. Crowds were insane last night with all the construction.

Oy. I re-did out schedule. I am afraid we are skipping EPCOT this year,DD will want to see the Frozen stuff. I switched our FP around to match this new time frame we have.

I think on our AK night, we will hop to DHS to see the Frozen fireworks, keep our FP for F! for the next night. Best of both worlds. I am a tiny bit bummed about not going to Epcot, only because Soarin is one of the family faves.

On vacation, I say when in doubt, eat! ;)

We aren't planning to go to DTD on this vacation. It wasn't even because of the construction...normally we go there the first day and buy our mickey ears, have lunch and stroll around, but we decided instead to go to Epcot this time since we will just walk over there from BWV after checking in, and we love the Garden Grill dinner so a character dinner sounded great for the first night. Thanks for the heads up though, in case we want to go to DTD on one of our non-park days.

The afternoon thunderstorms are typical. I'm hoping they hold out until right before the 3:00 parade on our park days...we leave the park before 2:00 lol. That would be asking too much though. We always get caught in rain at MK...if we don't on our first MK day then it is certain to happen on our second MK day. And we always laugh while we are in it and even more so afterwards! :)

Just joined the site after a last minute decision to head to WDW! We're at POR July 11- 17! Better start packing!

i bought an Elsa doll for my niece at HS yesterday. I forgot that I left it in the car so I went out to get it. It's not there!!! I just can't wrap my head around someone stealing something out of my car. :(
We stopped for lunch on the way home down the street, and then came home. I don't think it was in the car last night I thought I had brought it in. We went to AK today but I'm pretty sure it wasn't in the car this morning.
I was going to call the police, but I really don't know where it was taken from.
I tried calling lost and found ( hoping I left it on the tram) but was on hold forever!!! I'll be at MK Friday so I guess I'll check then.
I just can't believe this happened. I've never had something stolen from my car. :(
