Hi all! So, I have a bad back and it recently got much better after some physical therapy a couple of months ago, then when it got bad again my doctor have me a muscle relaxant for a week and it felt perfect for 2 weeks. On Saturday it started bothering me again. I called my doctor yesterday and he suggested physical therapy again. I went today to my PT. This time instead of a muscle alignment issue, the muscle in my lower back, the right side, is inflamed and that's why I get those spasms sometimes. This time, I didn't do any active physical therapy like last time. This time he worked on it because it was a different kind of problem. He applied heat for about 15 minutes, then he worked on it with massage therapy, and some assisted stretches. Then he used a machine to stimulate the muscle, all to stimulate blood flow to the area and promote healing. Then at the end he applied a cold pack for 15 minutes. It felt better. It gets better and worse now...this was late afternoon today. He said to stop exercising for a couple of days (very hard for me to do as I love to work out), and I go back to him Saturday morning. He said I have to rethink my whole exercise regimen at this point because my muscles are overloaded in that area. I have a feeling that once I'm healed he will have me focus more on cardio and core strength and less with the weights, even though they were light weights.
So, I am very frustrated. I really hope my back is ok for the long car ride to WDW in 37 days. And that is what I'm trying to focus on...37 days until we leave for WDW! He said I should be fine by then, but to take it easy on myself so I stay fine. I don't go on thrill rides (can't because of spinal surgery on my neck three years ago), so my plans won't change. I was already planning to wait for DH and the kids on rides like TT, Space Mountain, Big Thunder, Seven Dwarfs, etc. another thing frustrating me is that I was trying to lose a few pounds before going, giving me a little leeway because I usually gain a few on vacation...it's the only time I don't follow weight watchers religiously.
