*** The Official July 2014 thread, join us won't you? ***

I just saw from another post that Maelstrom FP+ is now in Tier 2. I don't know if this is a glitch in the system or not. I am thinking that maybe I should change my selections on my Epcot day. This is what I currently have planned.

TT at RD
TT again if line is short
Soarin FP+ from 9:15-10:15 for 3 of us
Other 3 do Sum of All Thrills
Everyone meet up at the Seas of Nemo for a 10:15-11:15 FP+
View the Seas Main Tank and Exhibits
Gran Fiesta Tour
Maelstrom & Norway Pavillion
Mulan in China at 12:00pm
Biegarten ADR 12:30pm
Tour World Showcase until around 4:30
Journey into Imagination with Figment FP+ from 5:00-6:00pm
Other FW attractions until 7:05-8:05 FP+ at Soarin to use the MB's of the 3 who did not ride it earlier.

Do you think I should change my Figment FP+ to Maelstrom to make sure we can ride without a delay before lunch? Would there be plenty of FP+ available for Figment to get a 4th later in the day?

I am also thinking that it might be better for everyone to go to Soaring and we ride twice back to back and let the others do Sum of all Thrills later in the afternoon when we return to FW. This way we will be able to use our 3 FP+ earlier in the day and get a 4th or 5th and maybe be lucky to get another for TT or Soarin.

What would you do if you were in my place? Thank you.

Michele

Making a little switcheroo for our last full day. We were going to do MK morning, back to BLT, and then AK evening, but that's silly because AK closes at 7 and the MK is open until midnight, so I'm switching them.

Big question, though, use FP+ at AK or MK? I'm thinking it makes the most sense to use them at AK so we can try for more afterwards, and I've read that the MK rides are fairly readily available, but I'm having a hard time giving up our Mine Train FP+ ;) We'll have already ridden it once (possibly twice depending on what we decide to do on our first night.) Josh's site also says that's the worst day of the week for AK, so I'm anticipating it will be nuts! Any suggestions?

On the 3rd, is transportation going to be a complete nightmare that I don't want to go back to the resort in the afternoon for a break? Don't think MK would be closed that day, but I'm worried about the bus situation if we try to leave and then come back. Thoughts?

It's been 3 years since we were there, but we haven't had issues with transportation during the day on the 3rd... or even the 4th. Transportation at night on the 4th can be crowded and slow.

MK won't close on the 3rd. That's actually one of the days we plan to go there.... yeah, not sure what I was thinking. lol. :)

We went on the 3rd in 2009 AND it was a PM EMH night. While it was completely insane after Wishes, the park never closed and we were able to arrive fairly late. We had a dessert party ADR, and since we were planning on doing PM EMH we didn't arrive at MK until about 7:00 maybe? We stayed at the BWI that year, so we took the bus over and it did take a while (maybe a little over an hour- an hour and a half?)

If you really want to keep Mine train, then I'd say keep the FPs for MK. If it doesn't REALLY matter, then do AK and try for 4th and 5th FPs when you get to MK. :-)

Has anyone reported anywhere how many FPs total they've been able to get in one day then? Is 5 basically tops?

I have read of some people who were able to get 7-10 FPs total in a single day. But these were days in May and early June when attendance was probably lower then it will be in July. I think they all occurred at MK. Most of the people have been getting FPs for HM, POTC, JC, and other non-headliner rides.

It's a hard decision to make. I don't know which day you are going to AK but we will be there on 7/26 which Josh's site has as Most Recommended. We will be going to the MK in the evening and I decided to make our FP+ for MK with the hope that we will be able to do everything we want at AK without waits first thing in the morning. The only one I am concerned about is Kali River Rapids. The wait could be pretty long in the afternoon but without the parade now I don't know if people will leave earlier.

I know you wanted to see the Festival of the Lion King. If this is the day you are planning to see it then maybe you should use FP+ at AK to make sure that you can see it without a long wait. Will you be going to AK for RD? If you are and you see Lion King on another day then maybe the waits in the morning will not be too bad if you want to save your FP+ for MK.

I guess I would schedule them for the attractions which are most important to you. I'm sorry I'm not more helpful.

Thanks to you and Koh for the replies! (Don't know how to double quote on my iPhone :) )

We will be doing AK with FP on July 18 and MK with FP on July 19. This will be for our last day (July 23.) I think that's why I'm having a hard time. We'll have already done most or all of what we wanted earlier in our stay so its kind of a bonus day. That's making it hard to decide which to use FP for. It might depend on what we get done earlier in our trip and then we can adjust. I'm thinking the mine train would be the hardest to get at the last minute, so I feel like maybe I should keep those because there's a better chance of getting the AK ones the day before?

I'd say that's a good plan. Make them for MK and then if things change, you can always redo the day before! :-)

I think that's what we'll do! We are risking trying to get a 4th FP for the Lion King show on the 18, so if that doesn't happen then we'll know we need to switch around and use our FP at AK instead on the 23 :) Man! This is stressful, hahaha! I REALLY wish they'd let you park hop within the first 3!

I think this is a good choice. Hopefully there will be reports if the Lion King FP+ are running out so you can change things in time if you need to. The 23rd is a morning EMH at AK. I have been looking at wait times at the parks to try and get an idea of any patterns and yesterday was a morning EMH at AK at 8:00am. At 9:45am according to MDE the waits were: Safari 25 min., Everest 10 mins., Dinosaur 10 mins., and Kali River Rapids 10 mins. At 11:00am the waits were longer: Safari 45 mins., Everest 35 mins., Dinosaur 20 mins., and Rapids 50 mins. If you are planning on arriving around 8:00am then you will probably get most things done before the lines get long.

I am with you on this being stressful. I thought I was done with my FP+ selections until I saw that the tiers changed at Epcot and HS. I changed our Figment FP+ to Maelstrom. I have Soarin for 3 people at 9:10am and then the other 3 who do not want to ride it have it at 7:00pm. I was planning on riding it early with my mom and youngest and then re-riding it with them in the evening rather than riding it twice back to back. Now I am trying to decide if I should move the second set for Soarin earlier to try and get a FP+ at TT or Soarin again! My husband could care less so I cannot get any help at home.

That sounds good to me. I guess we will need to look for you because I have no idea what I will be wearing. I read on one of the threads that the center section usually reserved for dining packages during the firs show is now used for FP+ holders during the second show. I wonder if there will be FP+ available around 9:15 that night.

Michele

I don't know what they have for FP+ and we won't be using it for that. We are hoping to use our GAC (the new version of it) for this. Let me know how you want to do this and we will work it out.

Calling all POR resort vacationers that are there any time from July 18 - 26. I am interested in setting up meet(s)! Let me know if you are in.

I am getting so excited! Today is the last day to customize our bands, finally got my days in order and dining set, booked plane tickets late last week so we are now arriving over a day earlier, added an extra park day on and I think I have FP+ set with maybe a few tweeks yet, and received our customized maps yesterday is getting ready to sit and go over them with the kids :)

Stressing again over our MK day. AGAIN:confused3 FP+ are set and I am trying to work stuff in between them with hopes of getting headliners later. URGH. Driving me nuts. Do you have your days planned with times?

Thanks for the info on the wait times recently. That's a big help to watch the patterns. I just went in and adjusted our MK FPs to the evening and we'll see how things look as we get closer. I booked a Wishes FP just because by that point we'll probably have done everything else, so that might be fun :)

As for your Soarin situation. Are you going to be in the park that long? I know in July we always leave and take a little break. Think about that first so you don't waste the 7:00 one :) From what I've read, additional FPs for TT or Soarin are non-existent, so pick what you want to do the most and book that. Oh, and I'm :rotfl: about your husband comment because mine is the SAME way. He tries to spin it all nice and say that I always do such a great job and I know what's best

I have our days planned with times to a point. I'm not scheduling every minute of every day ;) From what I've read, the MK seems to have the MOST availability of additional FPs, so try not to stress too much! I did find myself planning 3-4 trips to the MK this time, though, just to be sure we'll be able to hit everything :thumbsup2

Also: ADR CANCELLATION!
I'm going to cancel Crystal Palace for Wednesday, July 23, at 8:15 am for 4. Let me know if anyone wants to coordinate before I cancel :)

Boy! I wish I would've made a FP+ reservation for Living with the Land! (Something I never thought I'd say!)

Due to the tiering changes, you can now go in and adjust based on the new tiers. For example... we had Great Movie Ride booked, and I was able to go in and change two of us to RNRC since GMR is now tier I. That means we now have TSMM AND RNRC which are both tier I. I wish I would've had Living with the Land so I could go in and change it to Test Track!

That is exactly what we did. We had a Land fast pass that I didn't even know if we would use since we would usually just walk on it especially later in the evening or early in the day so I switched our Land fast pass with Soarin'. Now we have both Soarin and test track. My son is so happy because it's his birthday!
