We have never been to WDW in July and I am thinking it must rain quite a bit in the afternoon. Is that correct?

So I was curious to know what you all wear in the parks for shoes? I have only ever worn my Nike sneakers, as I like to be comfortable! But that won't work if it is going to rain a lot. Any suggestions of comfortable shoes that are waterproof? Also, do you do the same for your children? Again, I have always just put them in running shoes too. Thanks!!

Good Morning.. Usually we are back at the Resort resting during the afternoon rain showers. BUT!! I always pack flip flops, extra socks and a resort towel in my back pack in case it showers.

Hope my contribution helps. OP may have other ideas or options.:thumbsup2

We bring both sneakers and flip flops. I wear flip flops the majority of the time. My DH likes sneakers. My kids wear crocs most of the summer so the rain isn't an issue really. My recommendation is to pack newspaper. I know it seems weird, but it really helps dry out your shoes when they are wet. It soaks up moisture really well if you stuff the paper inside over night.

We also wear flip flops all day. Sometimes at night I'll switch to tennis shoes if its been a long day and my feet are tired, but we live in SC and are in flip flops almost year round so we're used to it. The afternoon rain is usually short and heavy. By the time you get to a place to change shoes you're already wet and then you have to put wet socks and shoes in your bag, only for it to stop raining 20 min later. Too much hassle for me :)

Today is a milestone for us. We have 100 days until my DH comes home from his last TDY ever. We retire in July. Tomorrow we will be double digit dancing all the way to Olive Garden to celebrate!

Carry on!:goodvibes

That's awesome! Mine comes home on the 31st of this month and we're counting down the days too!

Did anyone watch the show about disney on food network last night? There's also a few coming up on February 3rd on the "destination America" channel. It's channel 286 on direct tv

DITTO! Thanks to your husband and all who have served for us. And thanks to YOU for serving at home while your husband is away. That's a huge accomplishment! Congrats to your family!pixiedust:

My DH typically wears tennis shoes to the parks, but the rest of us wear flip flops/sandals. A few years ago, one of my fellow Disney nerds at work suggested "Fit Flops." They are super comfortable (but not cheap). I get mine at Macy's, but they also make a Disney version of them that I have seen in the stores at the resorts. I think you can order those online, too. My boys like their Nike sandals with the soft "straps."

We're going with a different plan of attack this year. Instead of going to parks every single day and taking mid-day breaks each day, my DH and kids wanted to do 3-4 "marathon days" at the parks and then have days to stay at the resort all day. Since we are at the Beach Club, we can go back and forth from EPCOT and HS easily if need be, but once we get to MK at rope drop, we are in for the long haul, rain or shine! :beach:

:lovestruc Thank you all for the support. I will tell him! The last 3 years have been the toughest hands down for us. I can't wait for the next chapter to begin.

We watched The LOne Ranger last night, and omg, we LOVED it. My DD thought Tonto was so funny. The facial expressions is what got her. She also has a crush on Captain Jack.....so, I think Johnny Depp has a fan for life. She's 8. lol.

I'm right there with your daughter! She has good taste. Ha ha. With three boys in my house, we have quite a few pirate fans. I've always been a huge fan of Johnny's and love everything that he's in. He's really a wonderful actor (and easy on the eyes, too). pirate:

We all love the character of Captain Jack. I'm sure you all know this, but MK has a Pirate Tutorial show outside of POTC that runs throughout the day. Kids can be selected from the audience to participate. Mine are too shy to get up on stage, but they love the show. It's super cute and funny.

The pirate makeover is also adorable, and they do have an option for girls to become pirate princesses or mermaids. One of my boys did the makeover when he was 4, and on the bus ride back to the resort, the bus driver made an announcement over the speaker that everyone needed to "keep to the code...because we have a pirate on board." My son's face lit up. It was awesome.

Now...on the flip side, the Captain Jack experience at HS is, in my option, pretty disappointing. The special effect of being able to see Captain Jack right there in front of you is cool and very realistic, but the attraction overall was not good. We would go again if there is NO WAIT, but I won't wait in line to see it again. You have to stand in a room for the whole thing (I'd say it lasted about 7 minutes), and the kids could not see most of the effects due to the adults blocking the view. It seems like it would be so much better if they had a little theater to see the "show." Oh well! They can't get them all right, I suppose!

I am a die hard crocs capri flip flops girl. Two years ago I found Sanuk yoga mat flip flops and I adore them! I tried them at Disney on our next trip and we hit a huge rainstorm. The rest of the day white foam was squishing out the sides of my shoes, ha! Never again for me ;) Back to my capris I went! :goodvibes I still wear my Sanuks at home, though, when I know it's not going to rain!
