*~~~The Official April 2014 Thread~~~*

In the past six years we've gone to Disney the only time we got a pin code was one time in 2010. Our last two trips and this next one is during spring break so we could sure use a pin.

Hello April Disers! I've added everyone to the list on the first post that has given me dates and resort names. If I've missed you please PM me and I will get you added :)

Hello April Disers! I've added everyone to the list on the first post that has given me dates and resort names. If I've missed you please PM me and I will get you added :)

My post count is too low to PM you right now :) We'll be there from 4/26-5/4 and we're staying offsite at the Lighthouse Key Resort & Spa.

We are going either Friday April 4th or Saturday 4/5 to Saturday 4/12 and staying at AoA in a LM room. So far airfare is extremely pricey so we may be driving from Michigan. If we drive we wont be there til Saturday. We really want to stay at AoA so we haven't jumped on any of the room discounts elsewhere. Im sure that seems silly to some but it will be my kids (DS 6 and DD 3) first time at Disney and the theming of the resort, not to mention the zero entry pool, are right up their alley.

So far we have made ADRs for:
4/6 Be our guest 5:30pm
4/7 Akershus 8am
4/8 Mama Melrose (fantasmic) 5:25pm
4/9 Chef Mickey 9:55am
4/9 Bibbity Bobbity Boutique (DTD) 1pm
4/9 TRex 5pm
4/11 Liberty Tree Tavern 1:35

I just cant wait! I hope its not too crazy since itll be spring break. Just like a previous commenter, we were prepared to take DS out of school in May but the more we thought about it, the more it didn't seem like a good idea.

Just made my ADRs! Took a bit of a struggle. It wouldn't let me look for tables past 180 days if I looked through the restaurant, but if I went to the page to search dining and added my date there it showed me what was available. I got dinner at BOG and Ohana, Breakfast at Kona Cafe and Hollywood & Vine, and the Wishes desert party, :hyper:

doing my 180 day dance... got my ADR's done this morning.. staying at Art Of Animation 4/14 to 4/20 Birthday celebration and hubby and youngest son first time... me and my other 2 children have been there before but it will be 10 years ago.. super excited...

Hubby (this will be his first trip)
Me (First trip was 2004 and I was very pregnant with youngest son)
DS 9(will be his first trip/ and we will be there during his birthday)
DD 16(second trip)
DS 14( second trip)

ADR's
Planet Hollywood on 4/14 at 730 pm for dinner
4/15 Donalds Dining Safari at Breakfast at Tusker House Restaurant in Animal Kingdom
then dinner on 4/15 at Whispering Canyon
Chef Mickeys dinner 4/16
Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria 4/17 for dinner
Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant in Hollywood Studios 4/18
'Ohana Best Friends Breakfast featuring Lilo & Stitch 4/20

Hi everyone! I've been trying to make online reservations since 6:00 am for BOG. No luck. The system is down for scheduled maintenance! Of course it is! Why wouldn't it be!? Lol. I guess I'll just try calling in a few minutes.

What ADRs is everyone making? I'm going to make BOG (hopefully), Fantasmic Dinner Package at either Hollywood and Vine (which I always do) or try Mama Melrose, and Marrakesh (which is totally underrated).

My tentative park plans look like this:

4/12- Epcot
4/13- HS
4/14- AK
4/15- MK
4/16- Pool Day!
4/17- Universal
4/18- IoA

Yes, I'm cheating on Disney. In my defense, I haven't been to Universal in about 5 years. DH and I usually stay on property and just do Disney but since my mom and I will be staying off property and will have a car, it works out. When I used to go with my family when I was little, we used to go to US all the time so I'm excited to go back with my mom :)

I'm wondering now though, if everyone will get MB. I know I'll be able to use mine from August, but will my mom get one? Or will she just have to use a card? Or can I give her my DH's to use?

Now, if we could only find cheaper airfare. We'd be all set!

My plans as of now look like this

4/14 Land at MCO around 9:30am. Will just check out the resort today, maybe swim. Dinner at Ohana.

4/15 Mk and dinner at Bog

4/16 Breakfast at Kona and Epcot

4/17 Breakfast at Hollywood & Vine and DHS...maybe a water park if we don't want to stay long at DHS. Then just my son and I will be doing the Wishes desert party.

4/18 go home :sad1:

Oh and I love Universal, there I said it lol I am a huge HP fan and I am sad we won't have time to go there this trip.

As for magicbands, I have assumed they will be out to everyone completely by April

Just booked our first reservation! T-Rex for lunch on Easter Sunday! (I know- seems weird, but my little guy is obsessed with dinosaurs!)
I called the restaurant direct and they will do 6 months date to date instead of the 180 days through Disney.
:yay:

OK I've updated the front page :)

Rapunzel<3 Let me know where you are staying and I will add you to the list!

finally got all my ADR's done happy 180 day to us!!!!!

for now as long as I dont go changing anything we have:
Kouzzinna dinner
Garden Grill Easter dinner
Chefs de France dinner
Ohana dinner
Tutto Italia dinner
Biergarten dinner
Liberty Tree Tavern Lunch

Well, I posted on page 1 with our intentions for a trip in April but then we quickly made a change to August.....

Today, we changed back to April!!!! We will be at WL CL from 4/24/14 - 5/3/14!!! :dance3:

We bought our airfare as well, so this is happening! So excited that we don't have to wait until August. I was on the April 2013 thread so I see a lot of familiar faces here. Our April trip was awesome and I also got a bonus trip in earlier this month. :wizard:

I feel so behind the eight ball though, now my ADRs need to be done in 5 days instead of in Februrary!:scared: Gotta start making firmer plans...

We didn't tell the kids about the change....when they find out they will be psyched, they couldn't complain enough about how far away August was. :rotfl:

Hello all!

Well, I went back and forth for a long time over what to do in 2014. My son is potty trained so DCL was on the table. We love the parks so that is always on the table.

My daughter’s spring break fell the week after Easter and ends the day before her birthday and since we have had named storms on each of our last 2 trips and April is outside hurricane season, I started thinking a surprise birthday trip would be really fun.

But still DCL or the parks. My ultimate dream would be a combination of the 2 of course. After checking weather history and crowd calendars and thinking about it long and hard, I did settle on trying to do both, but not in the same week.

I decided on short trips for spring and summer this year. One thing I have noticed about when we have a long summer trip is we tend to not do anything else so I wanted a change. Since we have been each of the last 2 years for a total of 19 days, I figure a short trip would be fine if it mean we could do DCL later. I’m thinking May after school is out. I've read about chilly water in the Bahamas in April. Historically it is about 10 degrees warmer in May. Not what I'd want for Disney, but definitely what I'd want for the Bahamas.

As to April, we are booked for a surprise birthday celebration trip April 23rd-27th. We’re staying at All-Star Movies. I booked just in time. I booked yesterday as my ADR date is today. I am thinking about one change. Since it is a short trip, I’m considering changing our arrival date to the 22nd and taking an afternoon flight to Orlando so we can wake up there on the 23rd. I’m just booking our return flight for now until I make up my mind. That’s one of the things I like about Southwest.

First the park plans. These are green/recommended according to easywdw and touringplans, but we’ve been during Thanksgiving so we know crowds. We will have hoppers because the Military Salute tickets come with them. I doubt we hop much.

Park schedule:
April 23, 2014-MK is the park.
April 24, 2014-AK is the park, but we may depending on how we feel go to MK after dinner since we’d have to go there to get our bus afterwards anyway.
April 25, 2014-MK is the park for the afternoon for sure. Not sure about the morning. We’ll either sleep in or maybe hit Epcot from opening to around 11.
April 26, 2014-DHS and Epcot are the parks. Fast Pass Plus will determine what order.
April 27, 2014-MK is the park (just a couple of hours)

Because when I called there were no more rooms available with the military discount, I had to get a one day MK ticket in order to add the dining plan to our package. So I figure a couple of hours in MK the day of departure would make good use of it.

Making good use of the dining plan this trip. I got up this morning and got online at 6am. Had a couple of snags when it seemed to get stuck during confirmation as in the confirmation email came while it was still processing, but I got everything I wanted.

4/23-Chef Mickey’s dinner at 5:55pm (3rd time there, 2nd time for dinner. Just a load of fun)
4/24-Ohana dinner at 5:55pm (2nd time there for dinner. Voted best food of our 2012 trip)
4/25-Cinderella’s Royal Table dinner at 6:40pm (2nd time there for dinner, designated birthday meal)
4/26-No ADR
4/27-Crystal Palace breakfast at 8:15am (4rd time there, 3rd time for breakfast) This one is my favorite. If I don’t switch our arrival date I’ll pay for this one OOP. If MK's hours change, I'll nix it so we can use the park time.

Finally, around 7:30am, I made the call to the BBB reservation line to get an appointment for dd prior to our CRT meal. We have a 3pm appointment in MK for April 25th. :cheer2:

The CM was kind enough to ask and note the birthday celebration on the reservation. Something I need to call back later and add to the CRT ADR. I thought it could be done online, but didn’t see it.

Crystal Palace will mean going against the flow of previous trips. I generally don't do a park on departure day. But I had to get that ticket so I'm going to try it. Our flight back is late so I’m going to plan on just a couple of hours that morning after breakfast to only do our very favorite things to say “see ya” to Disney.

Not sure if I’ll add a ticker. I love having a ticker, but if I do I’ll have to keep my daughter from looking while I’m on here. I've pulled off surprise trips before. Added difficulty here will be when she starts asking what we are going to do for her birthday. She does already know she's not getting a party this time at least.

DD(7) and I will be at Pop 3/25-4/8. We are so excited. This is a first trip and birthday celebration for both of us.

Got all the ADR's that I wanted WHEN I wanted them- including the elusive 5 PM dinner at BOG- which is AMAZING considering I'm staying offsite and had to book at 180! I definitely had some pixiedust: working in my favor that morning!

We're going April 20-24!

Changes:

I decided to go ahead and add a day to our trip. So now we are leaving home on the 22nd instead of the 23rd. I haven’t decided what time to book the flight for departure yet. There are still a lot of choices. The CM did go ahead and add DME to our trip and said to just call in later with the specific flight information.

There were only 2 flights available in the “wanna get away” section for the return though so I went ahead and snagged us one last night. I did decide since we’re going in on the 22nd now, that I’d book the earlier flight back home. It was a little cheaper so it will work out better when I add ECBI later. I plan to purchase the other leg as soon as I decide which one I want. Also playing around a bit with the ADRs still, but that’s pretty fun. I know exactly which ones not to mess with at all.

Sometimes this seems far away, but I know time will start flying with the holidays and all and before we know it, 2014 will be here. Now that my ADRs are done, I’ll shift my main focus to the holidays coming up. My WDW thing now will be going over my favorites on Etsy and my eBay watch list to finalize what I want for the trip.

Happy planning to all
