*** The Official 2014 - DLR -July Thread ***(We All Have Been There & Back Home)

For those that are interested or keeping track of my ankle drama, I had my appointment with the orthopedic surgeon this morning. He said no surgery and that I could start physio and weight bearing.

We talked to him about our trip. He said that I might not make it from an hour before opening at the gates to fireworks but he didn't recommend canceling (wouldn't happen anyway, dude). So at least I am feeling positive about it and hope physio can get me on the right track. I have to wait until the 10th to start.

:goodvibes So glad your ankle is doing better... like I said we'll roll you around if need be... :lmao:

Your probably like the rest of us... We are going to do Disney no matter what...:rotfl2: Just take it sure easy. :flower3:

That's great news that surgery isn't required!!!
Will keep praying for a speedy recovery :)

I'm going to see if I finally can figure out how to post a pic from an ipad...

This picture is absolutely priceless!

I love seeing everyone's pictures.

Hi all,

1. Do you need to purchase new suitcases, new totes or travel bags this year?
We have a fabulous set of luggage we were given as a wedding gift ten years ago and it's still going strong. However, I did recently buy new bags for the kids - a rolling duffle bag each. It's time they took responsibility for their own bags. Used them on a recent weekend away and they worked perfectly and the kids loved having their own separate bags.
2. Have you started packing?
No. I have packed in my mind but not in reality yet ;)
3. If you are flying, have you made transportation arrangements to get to the airport and back home?
We live close to the airport so we drive there, hubby drops the kids and I at check-in, then he takes the car back home and grabs a taxi back to the airport. Saves us having to pay for parking and/or find a taxi that has carseats for the kids.
4. If you have pets, have you made arrangements?
Yes, we have a house-sitter.
5. Do you stop your mail service while on Vacation?
Yes, just makes for one less thing for the live-in housesitter to have to do.
6. Have you arranged for some to stay at your house or look in on your house? Is your security system up to date and in good working order?
Yes and yes. But I must contact the security monitoring company to give them the housesitter's details.
7. Be sure to call your bank and credit card companies, letting them know you are traveling.
Good advice! Thanks. I've never had a problem before but I do know of others who have had their creditcard frozen because of the number of foreign transactions.
8. Be sure to take your health insurance card.
Buying travel insurance that includes medical insurance is almost compulsory for foreigners visiting the US. Getting sick or injured and having to pay US medical bills could be financially crippling otherwise.

Thanks for keeping us on our toes, Bob :)

Here's the most recent photo of my kids at Disneyland. This was in 2010 so they're four years older and less cute ;) now.

Loving seeing everyone else's photos :)

Thanks again for sharing your family pictures.. We love seeing your families having Disney Fun..

Don't forget to try to set up Dis Meets... Since the Park entrances are so close to each other, you could use the Disney Compass area to do a quick meet & greet. :goodvibes

I usually P.M. my cell phone number to the Families going the same time as I am. Last year we met 14 Families during our vacation.

Other than riding the rides.. the second most exciting part of my vacation is meeting my fellow Dis-Board Friends.. :cool1:

SpacecadetNZ - I think I am going to run out of question.....:lmao:

I've been to WDW a couple times a million years ago, but we haven't been as a family. Here's a picture from our Disney cruise last year.

We only did a 3 day for that same reason! We found an amazing deal on airline tickets ($108 nonstop round trip) and a great deal on a rental car (joining KLM and using their code saved us a ton). Honestly, between the airfare to CA, hotels, food, and park tickets, this year's vacation is costing us more.

Booked F! premium dessert seating for 7/3 this morning! 9pm show!
What a way to finish DD's birthday!
