The Official 2013 Wine and Dine Half Marathon Thread

Go to Zazzle.com and you can design anything. :thumbsup2 It can be a little pricey, but not too bad considering I'm only ordering only one shirt. The only down side is they don't use "tech" material, only cotton blends. So I'll just wear a tech shirt under it. And contrary to many of my northern neighbors, anything below 80 is cold for me for layers are good!

I also used them to design my wedding invites, reply cards, and thank you cards, and they came out awesome! pixiedust:

I'm definitely going to check it out!! Thank you!

I live in Tampa, and RARELY run in tech material for my shirts, I usually go with cotton tanks. It takes a bit for me to work up a sweat, I think living in FL almost all of my life has made my heat tolerance a bit higher than most! :)

Off to check out Zazzle!

So what happens at the FLP? Is there food and drink for purchase or is some of it included? I couldn't tell from the registration if there is an additional fee for the FLP (like the breakfast for the Princess...) :drinking1

A domestic canned beer or prepackaged sangria (it was a little scary) at the finish. I think there was pop too. $10 gift card to spend in epcot on food or drinks.

Food at the finish was (if I remember correctly) a banana and the box of food they have been giving out since Princess 2012. I actually really like it cause they have some g-f stuff in there. :) There was also powerade and water.

I agree the sangria was a little odd, but I couldn't imagine a beer after the race. There was pop for minors and adults who didn't want alcohol.

The $10 gift card can be spent on anything, it doesn't need to be at the after party. I use mine to buy a Food & Wine vinylmation.

I too am a fan of the goodie box they have been giving out. It offers a nice variety than a bagel, an orange and a banana. It also is nice to be able to carry it all easily.

Planning to run the W & D 1/2 this year. DS who will turn 14 is August wants to run it with me.

Does anyone know which resorts are host resorts? I would like to get our resort reservations made soon.

Thanks

Most likely won't have anything official until they open registration.

I'm in! Add me to the list. You can add +1 to me if you want, as I'll be running with either my sister, or DH or both! :) So excited!

If anybody doesn't want their free beverage, you can pass your beers my way! ;)

Yes, I would also accept friendship in the form of extra beers!

Add me to the list of beer takers! It is a pretty sad choice of beers. I can't understand how they only offer bud and bud light with the selection of beers around the world just steps away inside the park! I tried the margarita last year. I thought that it was just my stomach that didn't like it after pushing a rather fast race. But after several other drinks from around the showcase, I determined is was the skinny margarita that was causing the problem. The first year was by far the best. Each runner got a drink and snack voucher to use at any kiosk during the party for your choice of drink and food.

I actually do not like the box of items they now give out at the end of the races. Also, am I the only one that wants a bag even if they give me the box of items. It is pretty difficult to carry a drink, the box and a bag of ice or anything else you are trying to carry.

I dunno you guys, I had a beer after my 3-miler last night (sans food) at the local Pub Run and it knocked me on my you-know-what! I think I'll be sticking with the soda!:rotfl:

Thanks for clarifying about the gift card. We actually didn't use the one from the second race until the 2012 race!

And my problem with the sangria--it had all kinds of weird ingredients so I was afraid to drink it anyway. Couldn't tell if there was gluten in there or not. Plain old wine would have been nice...even cheap wine. :)

Add me to the list! This will be my first half marathon. I'm currently in training. Very excited.

I pick my races based on 2 things- 1. What is the charity 2. What free beverage at the end of race :)
Shamrock 1/2 Marathon = 4 yuengling beers
Moosehead 1/2 ironman(pre-official iota man event) = 1 margarita, 1beer
Warrior Dash = 1 beer
Yuengling 5k (1st one ever this April) = unknown # of beers + free brewery tour

The list could go on forever :)

Oh and it's always about the BLING :)

Do they often switch up host resorts? The three All-Stars were host resorts last year, but we would really like to try out AoA this time around... :earsboy:

This is a very nice list! Any other favorites out there along the same theme?

They do switch host resorts but usually All-Stars is always included. I'm not sure about AoA but I would think that resort would be included as well.

Got a great flight deal with JetBlue - direct flights out of Syracuse that fit in with ToT dates. Will see you next year hopefully! I wish you all the best on your W&D adventure. :thumbsup2
