The Not-So Scary, but oh-so sick Sept-Oct Trip Report-updated with day 4 & 5 pg.4

Hey April,

I'm really glad to hear that you had a good birthday...Happy Belated Birthday...

Once again your photos are stunning...

You did an awesome job of capturing the AKL and the AK-they are both such beautiful parks...:goodvibes

We had some of the same food as you did at Jiko...it really is quite yummy...

I'm sorry that you were starting to feel yucky-that's no fun at all...especially at Disney...:confused3

I love the autumnal photos you took in Mass.-is that Western or Central Mass.?

I want that Edgar Allan Poe pumpkin!!! (I love pumpkins-and carved ones!)

I'm hoping your feeling all well today...

Another phone update- sorry- my power steering died on the way to work & I'm stuck at home. I just thought you guys would get a kick out of the fact that it has been snowing here since last night...and the high temp today will be 39. Ugh.
I will post my last full day asap. After this TR, I will start a PTR for my solo January trip

April, as always you take the best pictures. I hate it that you were sick and couldn't really enjoy yourself. That John seems a lot of fun to be around. Good for you. You need some fun in your busy life.

We are supposed to have snow this weekend. Way too early. According to my brother it is supposed to snow Oct 13 in Minnesota every year. I didn't check to see if it did or not. We usually don't get snow till the week before Thanksgiving. The farmers almanac said our Oct was to be our July. They obviously didn not know.

All caught up now April :thumbsup2. Great report and pictures. I'm glad you had a GOOD memorable birthday this year. I hate that you got sick on the trip, Dallas and I came home with the swine flu so I know how you feel. I so want to stay at AKL.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY:cake:

Sorry for the quick updates from my phone this weekend. I had to order a part for my car & wait for it to come in. I actually had to rent a car for the week! I live about 1 minute from the airport (fun fact: part of the movie "Wichita" w/ Tom Cruise & Cameron Diaz just filmed there last month), so I just rented a car from there. I got a Kia Spectra which is TINY compared to my Santa Fe. I'm not so sure how safe I will feel on the highway in that car....but it is a car that will get me from A to B so I shouldn't complain. It is just an expensive week.
Well- this report will be over before I know it with only 2 full days left- one of which I was VERY sick & the other I was just beginning to feel a little better. Then we had our travel day going home. I'm thinking of starting a January PTR, too, but I'm not sure if I should.
Other than that, Isis & I are having a lazy day, watching the snow. I'm looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow. I hope you're all having a great weekend! I have been able to read a couple of reports using my phone- trying to keep up!

Hey girl!

Sorry I haven't been around for the last couple of updates. I at least I am caught up now. I can't see part of the Animal Kingdom pictures.:scared1: But, if they are half as good as the ones I could see, then they had to be great.

I hope that you get your car back quickly. It's always a pain in the rear end when your car breaks down.

Have a fun time watching the snow. It's in the mid-60s here today.

Lisa

Hey! April,
The JOL pictures are awesome!!! I need to try my hand at a normal JOL this year w/Ashton. The last one I did was about 7 yrs ago for Dayne!

Your bday dinner sounded divine and I'm happy you had a great bday!! sooo what could be your Christmas surprise?!?

your AK pictures came out great! and what fun that John like TSM!!
Have a great day! :wave2:

Thanks!!! There are awesome patterns for JOLs online & I wanted to do some this year, but I have been lazy.
I’m super- curious to find out what John was talking about- I don’t want to wait 2 months to find out!!!

Thanks! I loved the Poe pumpkin, too. The JOL photos were Providence, but the foliage photos were in Erving, MA (the French King Bridge) and Shelburne, MA & the surrounding area. We actually drove by Bill Cosby’s house in Shelburne- his property is beautiful.
I’m happy I am back to work with a good internet connection today so I can get caught up on TR’s at lunch!! I can read the TR’s from my phone, but none of the photos show up!

Thanks!!! It was awful to be sick there- I was heartbroken to miss the MK rides. I DID, however, reward myself with a solo trip in January. I’ll be packing my hat & gloves! Did you ever get snow this weekend?

Loving the TR so far! Sorry to hear about your car...

Thank you…the car is still waiting for its part & I am stuck driving a tiny rental in the meantime. At least it runs. rotfl

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY:cake:

Thanks! I think my bad birthday spell is FINALLY broken!!! Another one of my bad birthdays was in ’07…I came home from work to an “accident” Isis had in the house (that was the only one she has EVER had)…the worst kind you can think of. I literally opened the door to my house & gagged from the smell! I could write a book on bad birthday experiences. :lmao:
I caught up on your TR- it is so awful that you guys got sick! My doctor said she had the swine flu & that it was just AWFUL. I hope you and Dallas are feeling better now! How long were you sick?

Hmmm- I wonder why you can't see some of the photos? Are you getting an error message or anything?
I'm glad you're back- I missed you!
I totally want to move out of this climate! We had more snow last night & there were accidents galore on the way to work today. Ugh. It is the beginning of 6 months of freezing, dreary weather & dead vegetation. Depression set in at the first glimpse of snow Friday.

Day 4, Thursday October 1st:

Some photos from our balcony:

I was feeling pretty awful by this day. The night before, the fever was SO bad that I sweat right through my clothes & had to get up & change in the middle of the night!!! That has never happened to me before. I had NO energy and we had the Halloween party that night. We decided on spending the day at the pool. Well, to start off, I knew I had gained weight- but didn’t realize I wouldn’t fit into the swimsuit I brought. Ooops! So that was a bad start to the day. I bought one at Zawadi Marketplace & we went to grab a quick breakfast. All I ate was part of a bagel.
We spent a few hours out by the pool- most of the time in the pool. John was so funny- he was the first adult I saw go down the pool slide. After that, more adults were using it than the children were! When we got back to the room, I called my friend, Greg to see if he had arrived yet. He said he HAD arrived & was in need of some support because he was performing on American Idol! John & I made our way to DHS and got to be Greg’s “VIPs”. He was first up & sang “What a Wonderful World”. The other 2 were women & one sang “Hit me with your best shot”, the other “Alone” by Heart. I thought Greg was the best, but the lady that sang the Heart song from Scotland won.
Some photos from AI:

We decided to take a ride on Tower of Terror before going to dinner at LTT & to MNSSHP. Greg asked if we would give him a ride to his room & wait for him to get into his costume for the party. He was staying at Coronado Springs & his room was GORGEOUS. I don’t know if it was newly renovated, but my room did not look like that when I stayed in November 2006. It was really nice! We headed to the Halloween party together at MK.

MK.jpg

Greg had an extra ticket & we sat & waited while he tried to give it away- until WDW security intervened & told him he could not do that. Guest Services was able to give him a full refund for the ticket, though!

We proceeded to Liberty Tree Tavern & Greg asked the desk if he could be added on to our reservation. They said it was no problem. The food arrived & I normally would be grabbing for the potatoes & macaroni & cheese, but I just couldn’t even touch the food. I ate a few small bites…but that was it. I had a cup of tea & a ton of water. We walked out & the fireworks were going on, so we stopped & watched. After they were over, I was done. That was it for me! I was SO disappointed that I missed the MK entirely. I LOVE the Halloween party normally, too. I won’t be going back there for a while during Halloween, either. Greg made the good point that “Disney will always be here”. If I had tried to stay & do more, I would have made myself SO much sicker. We went back to the room & I was asleep almost immediately again.

Day 5, Friday October 2nd:

I woke up feeling like I could actually eat something- yay!!! John brought me breakfast potatoes from the Mara & I ate ALL of them! I didn’t want to push it, so I decided we should go see “Zombieland” before spending the rest of the day at EPCOT (which is my favorite park). I thought sitting in the air conditioning for 2 hours would definitely ease me into the day. We went to Downtown Disney & parked right at the West Side. John made me take a photo of this motorcycle- I have no idea why.
IMG_1496.jpg

Since we got there a little early, we looked in some of the shops & stopped off at Paradiso 37 for a drink. Sorry some of the photos are blurry & that I didn’t write down what was in the drinks (Both looked exactly the same, so I only posted one photo).

IMG_1489.jpg

We headed over to see “Zombieland” & it was awesome. I wish it was longer!! I love Woody Harrelson. I love all zombie movies, though. John normally HATES them & he absolutely loved this movie. I was in a GREAT mood after this & was looking forward to getting to my favorite park- EPCOT!
I didn’t take many photos & I didn’t keep track of what we ate. I just felt so rushed through the park that day. I didn’t shop at all- which I regret. We got to EPCOT & I knew Test Track would be a priority since we missed it in February. We went right on SSE first. I wish I took a photo of our silly faces we made.
After this, we went over to get a FP for Soarin’- it was MUCH later in the day. We stopped at Sunshine Seasons & I got a veggie soup. I forgot what John got here, but I remember he got a side of mac & cheese because I ate some of it. It was very good. We decided to go over to World Showcase after that & check out the Food & Wine Festival. I know I didn’t eat much, but I ate more that day than I had all week. John ate up a storm! The only food pics from the day were:

You guys will be disappointed in me, but these are my only EPCOT pics in daylight:

After strolling around WS, we went to grab a fastpass for Test Track & then went to ride Soarin’. Soarin’ is one of my favorites- We got into the front row this time, but I was next to a woman (in her 20’s or 30’s) that was screaming through most of the ride. I mean- full-on, no holds barred SCREAMING. I was irritated by that…not as much as John was, but I was irritated. After that, we headed to Test Track to ride. John loved it. I knew he would because he loves cars & everything. We found a place to sit & we watched Illuminations & drank champagne. It was a wonderful few minutes & I soaked it all in while I could.

After that, it was time to go back to the room & get some sleep because we had an early breakfast at Boma & then departure. :sad1:

Your comment about the swimming suit tickled me because it made me think back to our trip. I wondered if my suit would fit me too. I had gained some weight since I bought mine too. Not a lot, just 10 pounds but I didn't even think about trying it on before leaving. Thank goodness it fit. I sure didn't want to pay Disney prices for a new one.

The view from your room was gorgeous. I could sit out there all day long and just watch the animals.

I am so sorry that you weren't feeling well. I wonder if you got dehydrated. At least it didn't last too terribly long before you were feeling better. It sucks that you couldn't stay at the Halloween party longer though.

I know you said you were disappointed in the number of Epcot pictures you took but the ones that you did take are beautiful. You did a great job.

What was up with the lady screaming on Soarin'? I am afraid of heights but ride Soarin' every time. I certainly don't scream.

So sad to hear that it's almost your departure day!

great pictures! I love the view from your room...AKL is my dream resort and your pics make me want to go there! When I do book I may think about doing a split stay...hmmm!

glad you were feeling better on your Epcot day!

Have a great day!!
:wave2:

Good morning April. I hope you have a better week and your car gets fixed quickly and cheap. Don broke down and turned the furnace on yesterday morning. It was 52 in my house. We never got snow of which I'm thankful of. It is supposed to be a balmy 76 here today. I know it is gorgeous out right now. I dropped Princess off at the groomer this morning before work. She will come home beautiful.

I so love the last two updates. Your pictures are awsome as ever. Even tho you didn't get many of Epcot. :) Just kidding.

I so hate being sick on vacay. We love to cruise in the spring and I get sick everytime so I refuse to do it anymore. I stick with fall and winter.

Have a great day.

Ginny

I just read your TR today. We must live really close to each other if you are going to restaurants in Worcester! :thumbsup2 I really want to try that Tapas place, sounds really yummy!

I'm sorry you were sick during your trip, that really stinks!

I think you should do a PTR, I'd love to read about your upcoming plans!

I really enjoyed watching the animals from the hotel room- it is SO worth it if you plan to spend any time in the room.
I was pretty sick for most of the trip- I usually last from 6am-2am while in Disney. I was barely making 9am-5pm this time.
That lady on Soarin’ thought she was being “cute”….at least that’s what I got out of it.

Thanks! AKL is AWESOME. I wish I could stay there every time, but…it is not fiscally possible. :-( If you decide to stay at AKL, definitely take lots of pics for me!

Awww- you have to post a photo of Princess after the groomer- she is such a cutie!
Thanks about the photos! I WISH I got more of EPCOT. I felt so rushed that I didn’t take many at all. I swear to you I will make up for it in January!!!
As far as the weather- I NEED to move. If I didn’t like my job so much & if I wasn’t so over-attached to my Mom, I would be living in FL or CA by now.
Ugh- my car- the part was $187 & I had to rent one for the week while waiting for the part to come in- which was $219. It has been one seriously expensive week.

I live right IN Worcester- west side. Are we close? You can PM me if you would rather not say in a post.
I would love to compare our plans for the time we will be in WDW!

Day 6, Saturday October 3rd:
We woke up bright & early for our Boma breakfast- sorry, I didn’t get photos. I was SO happy to finally be able to eat that I nearly inhaled an entire plate of food. I was feeling too sad to have missed so much & to know we would be home so soon. After breakfast at Boma, we went back to the room, grabbed all of our stuff, then we were on our way to the airport. We didn’t hit any traffic & checked in & got through security very quickly and with no problems. We got to the gate & I was getting hungry. It was close to boarding time, so I ran over to Sbarro and grabbed a couple of slices of pizza to go. I ate a slice of cheese pizza & saved the veggie one for later. Jetblue decided to board all of the families with children before everyone else…which was great for us- less time on the plane! The flight was NOT smooth at all. We had a couple of moments where I was squeezing John’s hand pretty tightly. I’m not a flight wuss, either- I used to take lessons in a Cessna 2-seater, so it takes A LOT to frighten me on a plane. It did a couple of those quick drops with serious turbulence. :scared1: We made it home, though, safe & sound. Isis was very happy to see us for five minutes & then completely ignored me. When I called her name she would turn walk into another room. :headache: That only lasted a day, though….thank goodness because I can’t take the cold shoulder! So that is it...it is all over! I can promise you that my January TR will be much more detailed & have more photos. I am going to bathe in vitamins & sanitizer from now until then! I had better not get sick again for the next trip!!!! (Especially since I will be by myself that time!) Thanks for reading!!

April, your trip was a short one but looks like when you were able you had a good time...again, so sorry you became ill on your trip! and not able to enjoy your time with John. but, the good news is you will be there in 2 months to enjoy the magic again!!

Great report. I loved your fall color pics they were beautiful. I would be so made if I heard someone screaming on Soarin, I would hate to be next to that lady on TOT :lmao:

April, I hate to have your report end. I know you enjoyed yourself as best you could with being sick. I'm glad John was able to go and be there with you when you were sick. Your view from your room was fantastic and that had to be a real treat. And all of your pictures. Absolutely wonderful. I could look at your pictures over and over. You do such a good job. Congrats on a good trip. Now when you go in Jan. by yourself, stay well.

Ginny
