I just spent 8 nights in a studio at OKW. For the first time I was really bothered by the light coming through the peep hole at night. It seemed like a bright beacon and I wanted darkness.

Well, I found that a nickle fits just right in the peep hole and blocks the light nicely. So, if you also like a dark room at night try the "nickle trick".

.....We just got back from a studio in OKW and the one thing that really bugged my DW was that peep hole nite lite. She said it reminded her of the Eyeball on the ride in Norway.

ROTFLMAO!! now that is scary!!

I always said to bring a large band-aid to a studio at OKW. The light on the front porch shines right through and hits the person right in the eyes on one of the beds.

Bandaids also work great on the "red" eyes that automatically flush the park toilets. Those of you who have small children will know what I mean, LOL. :p :D

carol - too funny!!! I didn't realize how freaked out a kid could get if that toilet flushed!! I took my 5 year old neice to the bathroom, well she wiggled alittle and the toiled flushed, That was it, I thought something reached up and bit her!!! I didn't expect a complete meltdown!!!princess:

Thanks for the nickel tip. A post-it note works really well with the automatic toilets too.

Oh MAN - I wish I'd read this tip two trips ago! ::yes:: Our now 5 year old is TOTALLY freaked out by those self flushers. Well, she STILL is, so I'll be packing a few extra bandaids THIS trip! :teeth:

Thanks!

A nickle should look a lot better than a wad of toilet paper! I was having a mid nite crisis and all I could think of was paper! LOL

I'm a bit surpised that nobody has posted a post like
"If you need to put a nickel in the peep hole, you really shouldn't be considering DVC anyway. Next thing you know, these nickel in the peep hole folks will be destroying our resort by leaving trash outside their doors and..."
;)
Great suggestion tho. It is about nickel-sized isn't it?

Where was this thread when we spent 3 weeks at OKW in January?!

I just stuff peep holes with Kleenex, leaving a good "handle "
on it to take it out, and put it back in. I also always bring big saftey pins to correctly pin drapes together, so light does not
come through at night.

That's funny. I thought I saw the band-aid trick mentioned on the budget board posted by renters who only paid $10 per point to stay there. Yes, I do read the budget board. ( If this makes no sense, just read the thread about "why I love the DVC board").

Excellent ideas!! My son will be 5 when we go this fall and my daughter will be nearly 3. Tips like these are soooo helpful for people like me who can't think outside the box!!!

A few years ago we were in a studio at OKW, and I noticed the bandaid on the peephole when we first checked into the room.

I couldn't imagine what on EARTH that thing was doing there!!! :)

Somebody posted the suggestion on the boards a while back, and I just LOL... Duh!!!
