While it's not Notre Dame, I'd suggest visiting Sainte Chapelle, it's gorgeous! We are actually planning on spending 2 weeks next year in Paris and France. We are bummed that we now won't be able to visit the inside of this icon.

I've been there twice, and the second time was on a brilliant, sunny day. So much more dramatic! But, even on the overcast day, it was extremely awe inspiring.Seconding this recommendation. Really amazing windows there, and very close to Notre Dame.

that you may regret the trips you don't take, but you certainly won't regret the trips you do take. Life is short. Take the cruise. Plan the trip. Take the kids. Make it happen. Who knows if the chance will be there in the future?

I have been to Paris several times, but really didn't notice Notre Dame's spire. I remember the bell towers in the front and the flying buttresses in the rear, but paid little attention to the spire. For nine months, I have been visualizing the view from our apartment adjacent to The Hotel de Ville in Paris that we will be staying in for nine days. Across the square and over the rooftops I have been envisioning seeing the spire of Notre Dame. It’s funny that this one detail that is now gone has gotten me so “stuck”. I am so glad for the miracles of what was not destroyed, and look forward to seeing the rebuilt version. I am blessed to have been inside twice and two other times with my kids enjoying the exterior perimeter and playing in the little playground at the rear of the church. The visit this summer was going to be the first time we toured the interior with them. I was waiting until they were older to enjoy the experience. We were planning on also climbing the towers, and if we really liked it doing it again in the evening to enjoy the view with the lights of the city. Even though I am sure that my kids would not really have any clear memory if we had visited the interior before, I am a little sad that they don’t at least “know” that they had been there.
Luckily, we have made the choice to experience different parts of the world with our children. Since I was a little girl, I wanted to go as many places as possible. Disney Cruise Line has been a huge help in allowing me to see many amazing places and things...and to have those experiences with my kids and see it through their eyes has been even more incredible. So, so happy that we have made choices that others thought differently of. I like to live by not putting off what I can do today and this has only strengthened that more and made me so thankful for so much.
