at my school, periods are 42 minutes long, with 3 minutes to get to class in between. we have this six day cycle that goes by letters (A, B, C, D, E, and F). most people just follow it by ACE and BDF, meaning that those classes alternate every other day. most classes are year-long, except electives, study hall, and lunch for some people.
typical day:
mom comes in at around 5:45. i don't actually get out of bed till around 6.
my bus comes at 6:40, and my bus gets to school between 7 and 7:05 (which is the warning bell...when i get in at 7:05 i'm usually super late
BDF day (tomorrow)
first period: spanish (7:10 - 7:51)
second period: algebra (7:55 - 8:36)
third period: study hall (8:40 - 9:21)
homeroom: your homeroom is your third period classroom (9:21 - 9:31)
fourth period: gym (9:35 - 10:16)
fifth period: living environment (10:20 - 11:01)
sixth period: right now it's study hall, but next quarter i start a cinema history and criticism class (11:05 - 11:46)
seventh period: lunch (11:50 - 12:31)
eighth period: global history (12:35 - 1:16)
ninth period: english (1:20 - 2:01)
i'm on the bus by 2:05, and home by 2:30.

second period: study skills. this class is a joke..
third period: spanish I. ew.
fourth period: concepts of algebra and geometry. also a joke.
fifth period: driver's ed. this substitutes for phys ed/health
sixth period: foods. hateeeeeeeeeee this class
seventh period: lunch.
eighth period: fundamentals of earth science.
ninth period: english I.
yeah, and my school is SUPER competitive...we're one of the best in the country. a kid from my school actually won that $100,000 siemen's science thing. oh, and kevin james went to my school in the 1980s.

In April 2003 the school was closed for two days following a fire in an art room started by a student. On the day of the re-opening another fire was started; eventually three students were arrested in connection with the incidents. In total three fires were started in the space of a single month leading to several parents withdrawing their daughters from the school. The school was again attacked in December 2005 causing several thousand pounds worth of damage to the school kitchen and a number of classrooms at the front of the school.
