The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

I know. I think most Dr.'s ask you to wait before you try again, too, don't they? I feel bad for her. She wanted this. Badly. :sad1:

My cousin miscarried her first about 11 years ago. Her and her husband spent years, and thousands of $$, on infertility treatments with no luck. They got divorced, he knocked up his girlfriend and she was devastated.
She found out the week I had Lucas that she is pregnant, too. :goodvibes
Everyone in my family is now a firm believer that babies happen when they are supposed to... though it doesn't make a loss any less heartbreaking.

Ann- Thanks, I feel great! It's so nice not to worry about what I'm eating. I can't wait until I'm fully healed up again. Two surgeries has caused me to miss out on a lot of cuddle time with Lucas! Mom took him again last night and I'm still waiting on him to return for the day....
After I miscarried, the dr wanted me to wait three months before trying again. It was right around the 4 month mark I got PG with the twins.. and we werent even trying.
I hope you don't mind me popping in. I am not a "new" mom anymore but I love seeing the pictures of your babies!

Patsy - I took formula with DS and it was fine. Usually I had a bottle made up that wasn't empty because he drank some in the car or something and they let me through with it. Otherwise I used one of those formula plastic holdy things and bought a bottle of water past security.

I am a BAD mom. By about 4 or 6 weeks I couldn't take the sleep anymore, bought AngelCare Monitor, put him on his tummy and he slept like an angel.
Both mine are tummy sleepers. It is a HUGE help for me.
ds12 only slept on his stomach. He would not sleep on his back.

Here are some pics of Katie from today:

OMG!!!:lovestruc What a DOLL!! She is so cute!
december, she's so cute!

I'm debating on those chairs. It's called a bumbo, right? What are they for, do you recommend getting one? Just curious! :)

eta..

ohmygoodness! I just realized how big Katie is and that shes only a few weeks older than my Lucas. He's going to get that big this soon? Oh, no... they really do grow up too quickly!!!!

Bumbos are awesome. I dont have one, The thought of spending $80. on a couple of baby chairs just blows my mind... But they are neat. We have a friend that has one and we use it at their house. My babies both love it.

And YAY!! For the surgery. Seriously, I had mine when Mikalah was two months old, and it was so nice not to have to worry about it anymore.

december, I haven't been back to the thread in the last few days. So sad. I'll have to read the blog. :(

Sarah, the local rock station! I about died when I walked in one morning and he was laying there listening to Californication. :rotfl:

Why can't you stand her in her crib?
I think I'm missing a part of my anatomy that it doesn't bother me a bit to leave him in his crib. I seem to be the odd one out over here.

I probably would be okay with it now...but she wouldn't sleep in her pack n play today, so I doubt she'll sleep in her crib. I would only sleep in my swing as a baby and now I have a horrible time falling asleep, so I definitely want to figure this out before it effects her.

My friend gave me her bumpo and said it was the best thing she owned for her baby.

Okay, I need to go read the instructions for how to use the swaddle me blankets we have...

Those of you that breast feed, do you have your LO nurse from both breasts everytime or do you just alternate? How long do you let them go on one before switching to the other? I need to find time to hang over at kellymom!

My job just got posted. *sigh* It's official now, I'm a SAHM. I'm officially unemployed when my maternity leave is up August 26th.

My mom took Lucas, again, and so it's awfully quiet around here. So I shall post some Lucas... (again, I think orange looks GREAT on him!!)...

I just nurse on one side at a time. I let her nurse until she lets go and seems full. A few times, when she has been going through growth spurts and nursed for way too long at one time, I've switched to the other side during one feeding. But that has been rare.

Patsy, I was just wondering if you had made up your mind or not. Last I remember, your boss was there but you said you chickened out! Monday is going to be really hard on me and Katie I'm afraid:guilty:

My babies are 4 weeks old.....

Last weekend they were threatening to send Katie home, but then she started to act like a preemie again. I think she was just a bit anemic, but she seems to have coped with it herself, without any intervention. Dylan needed a blood transfusion last week, because he was anemic.

And now both babies just seem to need more time to learn to eat better. So, I don't really know if I'm in for another week in the NICU or another month. I just need to be patient.

I'm still pumping all the time. The upside is that I currently have plenty of breastmilk for the both of them. After a few near misses with mastitis, I seem to have worked out how much/ how often I need to pump to stay OK.

There are a few new pics on flickr for anyone that wants to check 'em out. :) http://www.flickr.com/photos/jtor1138/sets/72157620740723641/

I ended up coming home and typing it up and mailing it. I did call, though, to let them know. The branch manager was out of the office, but I talked to the assistant manager and her response was "Good, I hoped you were going to make that decision. I would love to have been able to stay home with my girls and you won't regret it. Of course, I hate to see you go, but I think you made the right choice." The position was posted Tuesday. :upsidedow

You go back Monday?!

DannysMom, I love the pictures! Thanks for sharing them with us. :goodvibes

Officially, I go back Wednesday. But since I'm new to this district, I have to go 1/2 day on Tuesday. And from experience I know we'll be in meetings for those teacher days, so I'm going to go Monday and get my room ready. I've been 3 times this summer, but with Katie, ds12, and dd9 with me I can't get much done! I have to start paying for daycare Mon anyway. I'm planning to leave her for about 3 hrs Monday, 5 hrs Tuesday, then fulltime after that.:guilty:

Valerie, thanks for sharing your beautiful babies. Glad to see and hear an update about them.

I started Emma on 5 oz last night. She stretched about another hour of sleep due to eating more. An extra hour of sleep for Mommy is better than nothing.

I have her sleeping in her pack & play in our room. We really need to get DS's room done so he can move in his big boy room and Emma can get his crib. I don't want to start any bad habits, I did spoil DS and am still paying the price... he can be hard to get down at night, at 2.5 he still loves to rock and snuggle with mommy.

december, Piecey, and DMickey28- What beautifil children!!!!!!!

I still need to post one of Natalie...

Okay, I have made up my mind. Next weekend when my parents are here, I am going to get Natalie to sleep in her crib! Wish me luck:thumbsup2

Both sides each time; I was told by the lactation consultants in the hospital to do it this way. I would be walking around leaning to the side if I didn't! :lmao:

I do alternate which side is first. DD has gotten faster as she has gotten older. She was at about 15-20 minutes (usually closer to 20) each side at the beginning, and now will go about 8-10 minutes each side.

Everyone's baby pics are so cute! We have the best-looking babies on this thread! :thumbsup2

I was doing one side per feeding and alternating per the lactation consultant though after discussing it with my midwife i started with both at each feeding. This seems much more comfortable and Allison is gaining weight just fine. I guess one reason they tell you to only do one is that you want to make sure that the baby gets the hind milk because that is where the fat is. If you switch too quickly, the baby will only get the foremilk from each breast. I usually switch after about 10 minutes or so though I always wait for her to stop by herself before switching. Sometimes she will suck as long as 20-25 minutes on one side. It is hard to say.

Good luck. Don't give up! It does get easier!!!

Hi girls! Its been a long time since I have been on here, and I have missed it! I gave birth to Zander James on June 23rd but have been so disorganized since that I haven't really felt like posting yet. I have been working feverishly at getting the hang of breastfeeding and after having three weeks of diflucan, I think we now have it down. (BTW, I nurse on both sides mostly. Zander sometimes only nurses on one side in the middle of the night because he falls asleep). I think now that I have the breastfeeding thing down, he seems to have colic. He's not a very happy baby compared to my dd so I am frustrated. He had been going four hours in between feedings since birth but the Lactation Consultant wanted me to increase the number of feedings in a day which meant I had to decrease the time in between and I think that has been a mistake. So now I only get about two hours of sleep at a time after he finally gets done nursing at night. Anyway-sorry to vent on my first post as a "new" mom but I am so sleep deprived and frustrated that I had to let some steam off!

Everyone's children are so darn cute! And its so great to see the pics of the babies that I heard so much about over at the moms to be thread!

Dannysmom-the twins are so adorable! I am sending prayers your way that things turn around for them and that they get to come home soon! I am sure it must be tough on you!

Mendy, feel free to vent away! That is another great part of this thread.

We're here anytime you wanna come vent... 24/7! ;)

I hope Zander gets on a better schedule for you. Is your mom gone now?

For those of you that are friends with Veronica on FB - is there any news about her having the baby?? She was being induced today. . . . and I know I am not part of this thread yet, but I had to ask since she is friends with more of you that have jumped ship already!

I haven't seen anything yet, and I've been watching pretty closely today.

Thanks! We tried giving him formula last night starting at 11:00 and he slept until 4:45. It was so nice to get a good stretch of sleep. I am going to try 24 hrs of formula today to see if I can tell a difference in his crankiness.

Yes, my mom left back at the beginning of July. DH's parents came for a week and a half. We actually went last week back to AL to see my mom. It was nice to be there where she could hold Zander for me.

There is nothing on Veronica's facebook or her myspace. I've been watching. :(

If she went in Friday, had him naturally.. she'd be coming home tomorrow right?? Hopefully we hear something! :)

She gave me her cell phone number so maybe I could give her a ring. Or would that be weird? :confused3

Mendy- Hopefully the formula will work to relieve some of his crankiness. I hate when Lucas gets cranky. I just want to ask him what is so terrible in his world- he's fed, cleaned and cuddled 24/7 by someone else. What a life! :rotfl:

...my MIL is officially very angry at me. :sad2:
She asked DH to bring Lucas out today and he said "Okay, but I don't knowif Patsy will be up to it after the surgery." This was before my surgery and I was in the room when the conversation took place.
Well, the way they took my gallbladder out I have 4 incisions. One is on the bottom/inside area of my belly button. The entire area around my belly button and below it is bruised and painful. I figure it re-aggravated the muscles/nerves that still weren't fully healed from the c-section. So I decided to pass and stay home in bed and try to heal up a little better since I'll be by myself with Lucas again on Monday.
She is LIVID! :confused3
Apparently I should "Pop some pain pills and get out there."
It's an hour drive, one way, on country, windy roads. Not a fun car trip at all!! Then she started telling Tom that after her hysterectomy she was up and moving in two days.
I know I should just ignore it but I'm so irritated with this lady. Technically I could have said "Honey, stay with me, I'm still sick" but at least DH and Lucas are going out!

I'm just irritated. My body is now trying to heal from TWO surgeries. There is no way, internally, my body was done healing from the c-section when they took my gallbladder out.
Sorry. Just wanted to vent. Woman drives me CRAZY!!

Wow, what a witch! Stay home and take care of yourself! I have a crazy mil, but not the normal mil kinda problems. I've posted it before, but dh really can't stand to be around her (he was raised by his father). If it wasn't for me, they'd have no relationship. So I can always count on dh to back me up with her.

I've found out how to entertain Katie for a few min while I get things done, but it won't win me any mother of the year awards! She LOVES TV!:happytv:
