The new Tusker House buffet menu and pricing

What a bummer....

I was disappointed when I first foundout it was switching to TS... it was one of my favorite CS meals... loved the chicken sandwich!

Now the buffet just reminds me of places like Hollywood & Vine. YUK... I think I'll be skipping this one.

The lines over at Flame Tree are going to be crazy long now at lunch!!!

I hope Yak and Yeti is more appealing as a TS option at AK. Otherwise, I'll just have to keep venturing over to AKL those days for Boma and/or Jiko.

I didn't realize "holiday pricing" was starting as early as 12/16. Still value season for the resorts, which is kind of confusing. Glad I'm on the DDP.

*SIGH* I wish they had just left it alone... it was my favorite CS place in all of WDW.:sad1:

Can't wait until 01/02/08! Well I guess I will have to.;) However the dining reviews will be coming in about mid Nov.

As I understand the original post, the character meal is for breakfast only. Is there a reason they don't continue the character theme through lunch and dinner (like the Crystal Palace)?

Ohana and Cape May have the same set up, althought these are at resorts, not a park.

Okay, so now it's decision time. I have ADR's for BOMA during our stay, planning to eat there after our AK day since we would be nearby.

Now this opens up. Should I change my ADR to Tusker House so we wouldn't have to go somewhere different to eat? Will you have be finished eating and out of the park by the time the park closes?

For instance, if the park closes at 8:00, will the last ADR be around 7:00, or will they seat up until 8:00?

Keep in mind this the Holiday Menu- there are specific dates listed for this menu only. Most of the buffets at WDW have standard "Holiday Fare" during Nov & Dec for the Holiday crowds. So before everyone gets disappointed that Tusker House lost it's African appeal, remember that this isn't the permanent change. Check out other buffets on the same dates! They are all similar.

I'm confused, I thought it's the holiday "pricing" not a different menu over the holiday season?? Isn't it only Thanksgiving day/ Christmas day where the menus actually change???

I think there are specials dinners for those days ( Thanksgiving & Christmas), but I know that the menus usually become more generic during the holiday breaks.

Sounds nice, but I'll stick with Boma. I can't tell from the menu what "African Flavors" are in any of that stuff; sounds more American to me.

Believe me, I'm not happy either. We were there in April, and as good as the chicken is, DH and I loved the turkey wrap w/ corn chowder. And their cakes were so good. I was disappointed that they changed the cakes to the packaged kind. Things are always changing at WDW, but I don't want to get to upset before I know the final change at Tusker. I love Boma too.

i, too, loved the turkey wrap and corn chowder! I was there in May and it was so hot, but there I was eating soup! It was sooooo good. I hope maybe when the Yak and Yeti opens, it might be there.

Im in !!! and on their first day too, cool, cant wait!:thumbsup2

And of course you WILL rush to the nearest computer after you eat and post a review. Even if you don't bring a laptop, several places have internet access for "only" $10 for 15 minutes. A small price to pay for your nearest and dearest friends, right?

Seriously, does anyone know what they mean by dinner hours vary "with park closing". Will they take reservations until park closing time? Or will they stop taking reservations a set amount of time before park closing? I'm trying to figure out dinner hours on 2 different days-on one, the park closes at 5:00, on the other at 7:00.

Simba's Mom--I booked an ADR yesterday for 4 p.m. on November 25 -- AK closes at 5 p.m. that day (dinner only from 3:30 to 4 p.m.-- kinda odd, even the CM said so). Hope that helps you.

Yes, it does-thanks. It sort of makes me think that they'll stop taking reservations about an hour before park closing. That way, people from the resturant will probably lieave about the time as the rest of the park.

$27 bucks for macaroni and potato salad, lunchmeat, and smoked salmon, spiral ham and carved roast beef?

Holy cow.

I guess when atendance is up so much, and the resorts are at all-time-high capacity, you can get away with overpriced, simple food.

Disney was on a roll there for a few years bringing in new, exciting, unique, great restaurants on property. Not anymore. It's more of the same, generic, overpriced fare.

The old Tusker was probably one of the best values and most unique counter service in all of WDW. I was hoping for an improvement. I am sadly disappointed.

Couldn't agree with you more on all points. On the OTHER hand.......it's $50 we'll won't be spending and I'm getting real good at those grocery deliveries and having lush picnics in various locations!! LOL
