Traveling soon with a child who cannot eat dairy or food dye - will there be any hope for him at the ice cream shop!? We've had luck locally with the fro-yo places with the fruit sorbets....anyone notice if they had anything dairy-free and/or not neon-food-dyed? :flower3:

I know they sell rice krispie treats there, also.

Our local gelato shops always have at least 1-5 fruit based flavors that do not contain dairy. I would think Disney would do the same given the number of flavors advertised. Food coloring might be iffy.

Hopefully someone with first hand experience will comment.

We were on the Fantasy July 8th. My daughter has many allergies including dairy. We didn't find non-dairy at the ice cream shop, but they do sell Dole whip at a stand next the the soft serve machines. I bought her one on sea day while having some pool time. It was a great treat. Just FYI they only have pineapple flavor.

Also you can get rice dream or tofutti in the main dining rooms. Neither of those works with our allergies, so she got Hagen Daz raspberry sorbet for dessert each night.

Should also add that I would think that Rice Krispie treats will be off limits due to butter.

My daughter is sensitive to dyes too...the dole whip did have some, just yellow I believe. Hagen Daz did not...I think it only had 4 ingredients when they brought it to me to verify.

(I allowed one dole whip -shared with her sister- as "every" kid is running around with ice cream on deck...she's 5 and is sensitive to her restrictions right now. Yellow isn't as bad as red for her, either.)

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other allergy questions.

Thank you so much, @3beauties1beast - that was really helpful! I'm sure the raspberry sorbet will be our go-to. SOOOO annoying at how many things they put food dye in when in fact there is no need to do so!!

That is a bummer (and a surprise) that there aren't any non-dairy options at the specialty ice cream shop. Non-dairy/fruit/sorbet is usually what I look at first as they also tend to be the least likely to have hidden gluten. :(

I feel the same way about gluten that others do about dye - why oh why does it have to be added to EVERYTHING?

And those Rice Krispie treats - regular Rice Krispies have gluten in them (barley malt extract). So unless they are using GF rice cereal they are not GF.

Do you recall if they have allergen info available for the different flavors?
