As noted by tnrobin you can get through the first layer of security by entering your username & password (assuming you have one) from any other Disney site.

Then you get to the DVC-specific section where you enter your new Club ID and PIN.........then it's off to the Member's Only section. It looks pretty darn nice to me !!!!

Yes, it looks like they flipped the switch!

I can't get into the Member section due to problems with my PC here at work (maybe a firewall issue?).

Nevertheless, I can wait 'til I get home for lunch...

But - on the "general access" site, I can no longer find the cash rates for the resort. I liked to include that informatioin on my DVC spreadsheet.

Can anyone tell me if this information is included in the "Member" area?

I agree with Battleship Bob. I was delighted when I reached the spot that said "Welcome Home, ----- family. I did a little exploring, but really saw nothing too new. It states on the site "Beginning in late 2005, you can expect to see new account tools added that will help you manage your mebership online." I'm glad to have access to the site and hope others are also able to reach it now.

Beth -- the resort information seems to be very sketchy for most of them. It looks like SSR has been "fleshed out" the most. I didn't check for the rates but it may be there. The resort sections seems to be still a "work in progress". Eventually, we should have all the information for all the resorts. In the meantime, you can check the resorts on the regular www.disneyworld.com site and get floor plans, prices, etc.

Under the vacation planning section there is a countdown clock with a picture of thr resort you select to stay at. Pretty cool!

I agree. I really didn't see anything particularly new or exciting. Too bad after all the hyp.

I also noticed an error on the OKW page. First of all, it lists a studio as having 1 queen and 1 sleep sofa. Not true for OKW! Another interesting point was in the opening page it lists OKW as OKW and spa! I wonder if that is something coming with the new slide and redesign of the pool area?

Still exploring the site but has a question. Should all members on the membership register or is it acceptable to just register one of the members? Isn’t the information offered the same for all on the membership?

So far everything looks good!

well, I like that it can use the member name from the other *.go.com sites and remember my name to welcome me home. But beyond that - and the ability to track my usage a little easier - I don't see a whole lot of reasons for the new user name and password - there doesn't seem to be the indivualized sorts of things I'd hoped for ("Here's how many points you have banked, here is your reservation, etc."). At least not yet. One thing I noticed that to me is a step backwards is that they are still using those gigantic 5-10 meg .pdg files of the point charts. They work fine when on a broadband, but choke my table on wireless connection. They had them down to easy to load .html pages under the member guidebook section of the older version, as well as the .pdf files. Maybe they still have them somewhere there now. I do think it looks cleaner and neater, and that it highlights pictures of your home resort (but you can only enter one "home."). I would still like to see some more but it is a nice start I guess.

I too couldn't see why more than one person needed to register, but maybe it has something to do with the coming ressie available section that isn't operating yet.

I finally got in. :)

I just started poking around...but I like the looks of things. We all knew that the reservation and account information wasn't going to be there *yet*...so I'm not too disappointed).

I think they should have let us DVC folks from the DIS beta test the new site though...I see many of you have already found mistakes (most of which would be corrected if they would have just copied the resort info from the regular WDW site). We're quite an analytical bunch, aren't we? :)

I agree about the .pdf files. It's the background graphic that makes it so huge. Lose the graphic, I just need the data and I don't want to wait 2 minutes for it to load on DSL.

A printable version of the perks in a chart format (without all of the description) would be SO nice...it's the only thing I really check out and long for every time I visit the site. I know they give us a pocket sized version during our stay...but I like to have it ahead of time.

This site is worse than the old. Cannot see any info on specific locations for world passport and not much info (no pictures) for concierge. Seems like more of a marketing site than info site.
Should be able to bring up reservations etc.

I am very disappointed.

A lot of hype ... I was expecting great things ... and found NOTHING NEW. The pictures highlighted the models/actors and not the rooms. There were not even as many pictures as before, and certainly nothing that gave the feel of the resort. The picture on the countdown timer is neat, but you can only list one trip at a time.

I was so looking forward to something new and exciting, but certainly didn't find it.

It was a data mining opportunity for them. You had to check that you accept the new "privacy" policy in which you agree to let them use all your personal info, including name, birthday, address, email, and phone number (!!!!!) to any of their companies, and if they sell a company the one they sell it to gets all your personal data. Plus you agree to let them track you with cookies. If you do not agree or if you are not over 18, they don't let you continue with the registration.

Plus their pages load *extremely* slowly.

You have to work hard to find the screen where you can opt out of notifications, but one thing they won't let you opt out of is the online member newsletter, which makes me wonder if they will stop sending the one in the mail. I always liked getting that.

Add me to the "disappointed column". I was hoping for a bit more out the upgrade. Having to wait until late in 2005 for other advancements seems like a long time to roll-out on-line account management.

They had it issue us accounts at some point... Perhaps they could have waited until 2005 when the bid transactions are ready, but from my experience with web-commerce implementations, you don't want to do everything all at once. Too risky.

So. I think it was a good decision to get this task out the way early. As for the hype, given there are 75,000 members out there, telling them about this new login process, and issuing the account ID's etc, is not a trivial effort. They did a first rate job getting the word out.

Good job DVC!

I agree with Disney Al -- this is all marketing. Blech! I can't find any actual pictures of rooms, etc., like they had on the old site. I used to like to take a virtual tour once in awhile.......

I didn't get that! The "sharing with others" box was unchecked in my registration, and it went through just fine. I only agreed to have them notify me of DVC stuff. I assume you MUST do that to be able to use the reservation system they are working on for the web site.
