I just got back from WDW yesterday. They are building a new roller coaster in AK in Asia. It's called something like Mount Everest (I'll have to look through my park maps to get the exact name). Anyway, they have alot of it built already and you can see where the large drop is coming out of the side of the mountain. Looks really great! It will be open in 2006.

Thanks for the link to the pics... it is really looking great!

My son and I were at WDW this weekend also. I understand that this will be the largest or tallest rollercoaster in central florida when completed. The construction looks very impressive.

i looked at this on their website they had a virtual video and it looks great
also on this ride it will have 2 vertical drops one 200 ft tall (the 1st 1)
also is gonna be the 1st roller coaster with a vertical drop in Florida and the 3rd in the world (others over here in England and in Taiwan) the 2nd vertical drop is 138 ft also the 1st drop will take you down 70 mph (faster then tast track the fastest ride in disney which goes at 64 mph *i think*)
we now take you back to your origanal thread
to see more on this ride please go to:

I did the virtual ride on the Busch Gardens website, as well! That is going to be awesome. When does it open? I have to wait 6 months before I can ride it due to back surgery anyway... but as soon as the Neurosurgeon says its OK, I will be on it!!!! :cool1:

The actual drop won't be the biggest, obviously at only 80 ft (which is darn good for a Disney coaster), but the mountain itself, will be the highest peak in Central Florida.

I think that's more of a tongue-in-cheek tie-in with the "Everest" theme than anything else. Expedition Everest will be 199' tall, which is just shy of the 200' limitation for having an air traffic safety light at the top of the structure. Tower of Terror is the same height, and I think there's one other structure at WDW that rises to 199, but it escapes me at the moment. BTMR, perhaps?

Nope! Expedition: EVEREST Legend of the Forbidden Mountain will be the tallest mountain in Florida, period! Also, it will be over 200', meaning it will need an airplane light. It will be the tallest structure in all of WDW.

I was there on Friday and it looks like they're building more than just the mountain over there. Perhaps they're going to create a new continent?

Everest will not be over 200' and will not have an airplane light. It will however be the tallest mountain in Florida at 199'. Just slightly beating BTMR. Everest will not be the tallest structure in WDW however, that title has been and will still be for the WDW Dolphin at 27 stories tall. ToT and Everest will also not be the second tallest structure because this title belongs to the Epcot Wand over SSE at about 257 feet. Thus, ToT and Everest will only be tied for third.
