Hello,
I have a garden view room booked at the Poly for the first week in February, and I emailed my travel agent to ask her to put in a room request--I am hoping for Samoa, volcano pool side. She replied back and said she requested Samoa for us but since we did not pay for pool view we can not get a pool view room. Is that correct? Thanks!

No, that is not correct. The only categories of view at the Polynesian are:

Garden View: View of gardens, pools, and parking lot (from rapa nui & rarotonga)

Lagoon View: View of 7 seas lagoon

Magic Kingdom View: Direct View of Cinderella Castle

Garden View Club Level: Garden side of Hawaii (Club Level) Longhouse

Lagoon View Club Level: Lagoon side of Hawaii (Club Level) Longhouse

The following longhouses are DEDICATED garden view
- Fiji
- Samoa
- Niue
- Rarotonga
- Rapa Nui

Thanks, I thought that she was incorrect! I'll try my request again...I hate not being able to do this myself!

Newbie here to the Poly. Can someone tell me what longhouses are termed Theme Park View? Thanks. Ely

The following longhouses have "Magic Kingdom View" rooms with unobstructed views of the castle:
Aotearoa
Tuvalu
Tahiti

However, there are also many other rooms that are facing the Magic Kingdom or the Seven Seas Lagoon but may have the castle partly or fully blocked. These "Lagoon View" rooms are in:
Aotearoa
Tuvalu
Hawaii
Tokelau
Tahiti
Tonga

Believe me I understand. We have 16 days to go. I am going crazy with the wait!!!!!!!!! :cool1: :yay:

Hi everyone, its only a bit over two weeks until we stay at the Poly and I am really getting excited about our trip! I have come up with a couple of questions:

1) Is turndown service available at all rooms or only at CL?

2) Are there any nice things you can order at the Poly to be delivered to your room? I have read about AKL and WL that you can get specific chocolates or cookies sent to your room with the design of the resort in them. Has anyone heard about this being available at the Poly?

Hi! How exciting! I love the Poly!

I know turndown service is available to all, you just need to request it once you are there.

I also have had a white chocolate Mickey delivered to our room for my DS's 10th birthday back in Sept. I set it up through IPO since we were staying CL, but they gave me a few chocolate characters to choose from. (sorry, off the top of my head, I can't remember them, I was just excited to get the Mickey, because that's what I really wanted) I'm sure if you call the Poly bakery direct, they can tell you what is available.

Here's the link to the Official Birthday/Anniversary Cake thread Part II, the bakery phone # is on the first page.

Happy planning and have a WONDERFUL trip!!

ETA: I just saw a pic on the last page of the cake thread of a chocolate Mickey and strawberries that someone had delivered at one of the resorts. Go take a peek, my Mickey was just plain white chocolate, a little different, but close. HTH

That is awesome! You'll love club level at the Poly. It is an amazing experience. :thumbsup2

thanks for this, what are the recommended sitdown restruants at the poly?

Personally I love Kona Cafe! :thumbsup2 The food is great there and there are lots of great dishes to choose from. There's a new Sushi Bar (it is actually the Coffee Bar in the mornings) that had a lot of activity going on when I visited this past December. Again, more variety there if you like sushi. 'Ohana is okay but the menu is limited--I'd only suggest trying this restaurant if you haven't before.

Any suggestions on room requests? I dont really care if I get a balcony as I've never had one at the Poly before, so I wouldn't miss it. I've heard there can be some noise from the service elevator near the lounge is you are towards that end of the garden view side.

There really isn't a 'bad' room in the Hawaii building. We had a 2nd floor room without a balcony (no big deal for us either) that had a lovely view of the quiet pool. Now there is some noise from the elevator near the lounge but that's what happens with rooms near elevators in general.

Obviously I'm not hanging my hopes on a view upgrade....I mean I can just walk down the hall to the lounge and see the spectacular view of the castle :cloud9:

And the view from the lounge is spectacular indeed. :cloud9:

Can you request a room upgrade once you get there? Has anyone done this? What did they quote you?

I hope you and your family have a magical time and I cannot wait to hear about your stay when you return!

(P.S. i am jealous of you!)

what kind of rates are out there...we also live in Florida! ALso what is a good room, on the ground. We have never stayed at the Poly and are looking forward to it. We have two kids 13 and 6. THank you

pardon my ignorance, but what IS turn-down service?

Ooohhh! I know this one! At least I know the traditional definition. It is when housekeeping comes in and pulls down your sheets on your bed so that they are no longer tucked over the pillows. In some hotels, they may often put a chocolate on your pillow, but I don't know if that is done at the Poly or if it is something that might only be in club level.

That's how I see it anyway.:yay: 4 weeks until we can try it out!

Oh, thanks! I kinda thought that is what it meant, but I don't see the importance:confused3 . I guess it would be nice if they automatically did it, but I wouldnt care enough to ask for it.

We like turndown because we tend to go swimming in the afternoon and then shower and go out. Usually with turndown, we can get fresh towels while we're out (so we can shower in the morning with clean towels if we want to). My DD, of course, likes the little candies, flowers, or notes that some hotels will leave on her pillow.:)

we are stay at Poly for the first time, also World first timers.

Right now, I am booked with GardenView but they didn't say where??

Can I request a specific GV? THANKS
