Thanks, they're in index under "Fiji" and also under "Pool and Grounds pics" :sunny: I thought the storm pics were great!

Hi! :wave2:

hey where are you from in the Commonwealth of Taxachusetts? I might be your neighbor :)

Yeah, our one month countdown is officially on! :woohoo:

I was wondering how long I should plan for travel from the Poly to the Animal Kingdom for an early 8AM reservation for breakfast?

Seaspray! I was just looking at your poly pages (http://www.brownfamilyvacations.com/html/polynesianjul2007.htm) and we have the SAME favorite spot on the beach next to the marina! DBF and I have taken some of our favorite vacation pictures there. its a beautiful spot!

see!

got a little carried away there lol

We had four wonderful days at the Polynesian 12/30 - 1/3!

We arrived at about 8:45 AM and were able to leave all our luggage with bell services while we went on to Magic Kingdom. There was NO line at the front desk, so we got checked in, got our Happy Anniversary and 1st Visit buttons and were on our way to MK by 9:15. Amazing.

We had room 2017 in Tahiti -- a fantastic location! We had an unobstructed view across the lagoon to the castle and our own private beach right in front. Plus, we were right next to the TTC, which made getting to and from both MK and EPCOT fast and easy. In fact, we only took the resort monorail the first day, since we happened to be at the GCH.

The room had two sinks, was clean as a whistle, and felt very new and nice. We had plenty of room to put stuff in the bathroom because of the little shelf over the sinks. We lucked out with our Mousekeeping experience, I think -- we brought home THREE towel creatures -- a clown, a bird, and a bouquet of flowers. I'll try to post a picture once I figure out where to put them! On New Year's Day, the Mousekeeper didn't come until after 5 PM, but that was the only thing that didn't go swimmingly well, and, frankly, given that it was a holiday, I didn't let it bug me.

The most amazing moment for us was on New Year's Eve. We'd gone to bed at 9:30, slept a couple of hours, and woke up at 11:55 to the sound of the MC across the lagoon annoucing the Fantasy in the Sky fireworks. We wrapped up in a blanket, went out on the balcony and watched the most amazing, incredible fireworks I've ever seen in person! The beachfront was filled with hundreds of people, the lagoon was full of boats, and from our lagoon-front room, we had heard NONE of it. We'd slept like babies until just before they started! It made the extra expense of the Poly worthwhile in that moment, when I could stumble right back to bed while everyone else was making their way back to their cars or whatever!

It was very hard to leave the Poly, and it's very hard to imagine staying anywhere else now that I've been there. We lucked out with weather, too -- 70s and gorgeous the entire time we were there -- maybe if it had been 50 and rainy, I would have felt differently about having to walk outside to get anywhere or do anything.

I would have done a bounce back in a heartbeat, but none of the open dates worked on our calendar. *sigh*

Let's see...what else can I tell you about the Poly? Oh! In the afternoons, kids (and grownups) can make lei bracelets in the lobby until 5 PM. They also had little plastic "stained glass" suncatchers and coloring sheets, as well as old Disney cartoons for kids to watch from little kid-sized stools.

For our anniversary dinner, my husband and I went to 'Ohana while our DD7 went to the Neverland Club. I can't say enough good things about the NLC -- DD went back the next night and enjoyed it just as much. I'm amazed that it's not full to bursting every night. For $33.75, we had three carefree adult hours, knowing our daughter was safe, entertained, and content right there on the grounds. Priceless! :thumbsup2

I'll post more about our park excursions in another thread, but I have to say that in general, the planning that went into the trip was totally worthwhile. On some of the busiest days of the year, we were able to get on every ride we wanted and do everything we had planned with very little waiting. It was worth every minute of planning I'd done to maximize the good and minimize the bad! There were times, even when thing were NUTS elsewhere, where we were the only people in sight in any direction!

Oh how I miss Dave's live Poly webcam....Am I the only one???:sad2:

I so enjoyed having the screen on all day watching the beach and the wind blowing the tress and watching the boats go by and then then we really got in the habit of hanging out every night and watching the fireworks and EWP from our own home! What a great treat he gave us!

Well, now the post Poly blues are really going to set in. I really need to start planning our next trip.

Thanks Dave for sharing your vacation with us!!! You and Kathy are the best!

Oh, gosh. I know the dates only went through September 09. They were 40% off "select deluxe resorts". There were a number of dates in January, I remember that, and a lot of September. I didn't pay close attention once I realized they wouldn't do us any good! Sorry!

I am hoping to find something discounted for either December 09 or January 10, but the dates didn't extend that far.

thanks for the info.:worship:

Congrats on your decision to book the Polynesian Club Level. Whether or not you book with dining is a personal choice. For our family, we simply don't eat enough to warrant the dining plan (partially because we have the Disney Dining Card--now known as Tables in Wonderland Card). Of course, others think the dining plan is definitely a great add-on--as I said, it's a personal preference.

Hawaii does house the concierge level rooms, although Tonga houses concierge level suites. If you are booking a single room versus a suite, you will be in Hawaii. If you prefer a balcony (or patio), simply make that request when you book. While neither is guaranteed, the staff will do its best to accommodate your wishes.

Since it's your first stay, my best advice is to plan some down time to enjoy the amenities of the resort! Definitely take time to watch Wishes from the beach (or concierge lounge) as well as the Electrical Water Parade. Get your ADRs in order and allow the staff to assist you in making the arrangements. Above all, enjoy your vacation! :woohoo:

Thanks for all the info it really helpfull, QQ what is a ADR?

ADR stands for advance dining reservation.

All Disney restaurants that have waiter/waitress service offer advance dining reservations. Most of the time, it is a MUST that you have an ADR if you want to want in this type of restaurant, because most of the time so many other people also have ADRs that the restaurant won't even accept you if you walk in without a reservation. Or they might let you wait, but it might be a very very long wait as compared with people who have ADRs.

Disney advertises ADRs as a way to reduce your wait time ... they specifically say that it's not the same as a traditional reservation at a restaurant in that they are not holding a table for you and are not guaranteeing that you will be seated at the exact moment of your scheduled ADR.

Newbie here to the Poly. Can someone tell me what longhouses are termed Theme Park View? Thanks. Ely

Don't forget that there are some restaurants located on property that don't accept ADR's, even though they might have waiters and waitress. Some examples are the ESPN Club at the Boardwalk, Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club and the Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney Marketplace.

However when it comes to the Rainforest Cafe you can make a reservation over there by calling that location directly. So that would also mean they don't follow the ADR formart and you would be seated at the time you have.

It's actually different because the Rainforest Cafe at the Animal Kingdom, because for that one WDW-Dining Cast Members can make you an ADR over there.

I'm 260 days away from my next stay at the Poly but I'm SUPER excited!

I've stayed at the Poly twice befor, both Garden view, both Fiji, 2nd floor marina side! Its actually pretty funny as our first stay, in August 06, we were in room 2316. Our second stay, in August 07, we were in room 2317! Almost the exact same room!

Anyways, this time we are staying Garden View Club Level!

I emailed Itinerary Planning a few days ago, just to introduce myself and be sure that they had my contact info. I haven't heard anything back but I'm assuming that is because my vacation is 260 days away, not exactly a priority at this point LOL.

Any suggestions on room requests? I dont really care if I get a balcony as I've never had one at the Poly before, so I wouldn't miss it. I've heard there can be some noise from the service elevator near the lounge is you are towards that end of the garden view side.

Also, what are the chances of being upgraded to Lagoon View (wishful thinking i know!) But I'm going during value and I know that Disney commonly oversells the less expensive categories (such as GVCL). Would love to hear of any upgrades.

Obviously I'm not hanging my hopes on a view upgrade....I mean I can just walk down the hall to the lounge and see the spectacular view of the castle :cloud9:
