Johnsonet,

Thanks, as always, for posting such beautiful photos! They never fail to make me super-excited for our trip!:)

We are looking forward to our first stay at the Poly! Are the beds there super comfy with the down comforters or do they use the itchy blankets? I think we were spoiled by staying at the BC earlier this year!

Do you think we will be able to enjoy some pool time first week of December?

Thanks for the great pictures of the pool!

It's possible you will have warm weather but you'll just have to wait and see... we've gone swimming/sunbathing at WDW in mid-January before :beach:

Thanks for your "thanks" on the photos :flower3:

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to chime in and say how excited I am to be staying at the Poly this coming April, and how much fun I have been having reading everyone's entries! I am truly indebted to everyone who has contributed information to this thread -- it's the best!

We are a family who only goes to WDW every several years (stayed at Ft. Wilderness cabins and AKL, which we loved, before), so we have decided to splurge! Got the 4/3 deal for Poly LVCL (is that the correct abbrev????)! We have three daughters, 11, 9 and turning 3 on the vacation, so the ease of being on the monorail really appeals to me. I haven't been to the Poly since the late 1970s! (I know that dates me!) Has it changed much? (joking).

Question: can anyone tell me if certain rooms/floors in Hawaii are noisier than others? My youngest daughter takes after me, and is a light sleeper, so this is information that would be useful for us to know!

Can't wait to go! (My husband thinks I am obsessive about planning for WDW, and probably nuts. I, however, really enjoy it!)

Annie - you are going to :lovestruc Poly LVCL. Talk about doing it right :thumbsup2 It's incredible!
Re. noise, we've stayed in GV CL on the 1st floor once and this July we were 3d floor LV CL and both times we had zero problems... that's really going to just depend on your neighbors ;) Hopefully you will have peace and quiet. I find the Poly to be very relaxing - not loud except in the lobby when hordes are checking in at the 'Ohana podium :scared1:

Thank you. You're very sweet. I'm eager to hear how you like Poly LVCL :woohoo: Here's a pic just for you ;) (I've posted it before... it was taken (w/ zoom, of course)) from our balcony :cloud9:

Hi. The beds are comfy but they do have polyester spreads... Here's a pic taken after nightly turndown (which is by request only, unless you are staying Club Level, FYI)

It is very possible. Both times I've been at Disney for Christmas, there have been days warm enough to swim and days warm enough where I can't. I bring our bathing suits along anyway just in case. :thumbsup2

I just wanted to chime in with my agreement that the rooms at the Poly are darkly soothing and peaceful, thanks to the decor. After a day at the parks coming "home" was so nice. DH and I felt so calm and pampered staying at the Poly in Sept.

That's how I feel about the 'rich' colors as well. They're very calming to me. Bright colors (well, too many of them) drive me nuts. And no, I don't think I'm a vampire. :lmao:

I've found the beds at the Poly to be super-comfy--and I am very particular about my beds. :cloud9: As johnsonet posted, the bedspreads are polyester but they are very smooth against the skin. I want to say that in December they had microfiber blankets made up with the beds then.

Annie, you're going to love the Poly!!

I've only stayed on the 3rd floor of Hawaii, but if I had to guess, I would think that the 2nd floor *might* be the noisiest (if it's noisy at all), if only because that's also the main floor of the lounge. And also because you'd have people in rooms above and below yours.

Honestly, though, we've stayed on all 3 floors of different buildings at the Poly and only ever noticed noise coming between the rooms where there was a connecting door, and even that was slight.

Hope this helps a little!

Thanks DiznEeyore! Definitely helps a lot! I also think I'd like a 1st or 3rd floor room so that we can sit outside when my youngest is sleeping, so that fits in well with that request!

We were also on third floor of Hawaii. It was very quiet. We were GV however and we were the last room in the hall with no neighbors on one side. After a fabulous, rockin day at the parks it was heavenly to grab a drink in the lounge and go back to our quiet room I think the second floor would be noisiest too..maybe just a little at the lounge end. You'll love the Poly

What a great description, Shell54, of your peaceful retreat at Poly concierge! Looking forward to it. Now if someone will just take my kids for awhile.... (just kidding -- I love them dearly. But it is a thought....)

My family also goes to WDW just every few years. We're trying out the Poly LVCL for the first time in April, too! If you want a quieter room, I would suggest requesting one from the Poly IPO (and maybe asking not to be too close to the lounge).

Have fun planning!

mmears, thanks for the kind welcome! I'm excited for both of us! I am already having a great time planning, and hope you are too! Great suggestion re mentioning this as a request to the Poly IPO. I'm sure we will be discussing all things Poly many times to come between now and April!

Johnsonet, thanks for the reassurance. You're right, though, it truly does depend on what neighbors fate has in store for you. Have to keep my fingers crossed on that one. And yes, the chaos around the 'Ohana podium really freaked me out when we ate there last trip! Yikes!

Thanks all! And great pictures Johnsonet!

Not sure if I've gotten the hang of this quote thing -- we'll see how this works!

Staying at the Poly for the first time in May for 7 days (thanks to the 4/3 deal!) and I am SOOOO looking forward to checking in to our airline from there. Can those who have used the airline check in share their experiences? Any major glitches? Anything I should know in advance? princess:

I love airline checkin! It's so convenient. Here's a great thread with all you've ever wanted to know about RAC:http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=944813

Mothers Day at Poly this year. Can anyone make a suggestion where we should eat?

Which meal and what kind of experience are you interested in? Fine dining, character, etc?? What a great place to spend Mother's Day.:cool1:

Sorry, no freezer section.

Wee Annie, great choice!:cool1:

johnsonet, great pictures. Wonderful to see on this cold and blustery day up here.

We're headed for my 4 year old daughter's 1st trip to the world in less than 3 weeks. Wahooooooo!

Can someone tell me if there are microwaves available anywhere at the Poly? Wife's favorite night time snack is popcorn and it would be nice to have a low cost option for room snacks.

For some reason, the RAC at Poly seems to be the smoothest and fastest airline check in! I've used RAC at AKL, BWI, WL (were they sticklers for weighing luggage to the ounce!!) and CBR, and they are all okay. But each time I have used Poly, they are fast and efficient and super-organized.

There was another thread about being able to watch the Mickey cartoons in your room... Does anyone know if they still work in the rooms at the Poly :confused3 We haven't watched them in the room since we stayed at the Contemporary a long time ago and we miss them a lot!

We'll be there around the same time as you! Maybe we'll bump into eachother!

There is definitely a microwave (and a toaster oven) available at Captain Cooks in the GCH. :thumbsup2 I've seen several folks use it to pop popcorn. I've heard some people have gotten microwaves in their room by asking but I've never done it personally.

Mothers Day at the Poly. I think we are going to hit AKL that day, so anything there, Downtown Disney or at the hotels? We aren't sure what kind of meal we want to eat since we have never gone before. Just looking for ideas of ways to spend Mothers Day that would be enjoyable for us and our 2 toddlers.

There is a dial-up hook-up available in each room. It's 9.95/day. :)
