uh oh! (me again). I just decided on Fiji but was looking at all of the posts on page one of this thread and saw that there are no balconies in Fiji? I thought it was just the second floor that had no balconies? Could you tell me which other longhouses have no balconies. I'm a single mom traveling with my DD and requested an upper floor, but it's nice to have a balcony to sit on after my DD falls asleep...TIA for your help

The first floor rooms have patios and the third floor rooms have balcony's. It is just the second floor rooms that do not have them.

Ok I've read first 90 pages of this wonderful thread (scrolling on blackberry my thumb might be sprained) so far I don't see answer to goofy habit - I am light sleeper and always sleep with fan on at home foe white noise - is it possible to ask for a portable fan for my room in hawaii building? Would the concierge cms be the ones to talk to? Thanks

Thanks, Brentalex! That's what I thought I'd read myself...maybe the person that posted thought they stayed on the third floor but were actually on the second floor. Thanks for the clarification

There is a monorail that goes in the opposite direction, but it does not stop at the resorts. That is the MK express, only stops at the TTC and the MK. If you want to go to Epcot, there is a walkway to the TTC from the Poly and you should just walk there to get the Epcot monorail.

Ok, so to get to Epcot from the Poly, you either walk to the TTC and take it from there, or get on the monorail at the GCH and loop around until it comes back to the TTC? I'm crossing my fingers for Fiji, which looks like a far walk to the TTC...how far is it to walk from Fiji to the TTC?

The thing is, it really takes quite a while to do the whole loop and get to the TTC. Wouldn't seem like it would, but with all the stops it feel like it takes a lot. Not sure how it compares to walking, though, but we're planning on walking.

Well, my brain is fried from all this reading and thread browsing...

I think I have my ADR's decided, but I can't do anything else with them until the hours are released. It is a good thing that I am going back to work next work from being on medical leave for the last 7 weeks. I can imagine how loopy I may be if I started planning this trip back then...

Looking forward to the summer months...they go by quickly.

I have a question about the bus that goes to TL and DTD. After an early morning at TL (we'll take a taxi there since it will too early for the busses), we'd like to go to DTD and check it out and maybe have lunch at T-Rex.

Does anyone know the order that the bus takes? Is it Poly--TL--DTD (which would work out great for us to get to DTD) or is it Poly--DTD--TL (which would mean we'd have to find another way of getting to DTD).

Hopes this makes sense...

Packing? I've been packed for two weeks now!

I use the sticky lime green felt from Micheal's. They stick to everything.

We opened our first suitcase to begin packing for our July 21st trip..

Here is what we do when on vacation to noise out all the people partying at 1am. Turn on the alarm clock radio to a location with no radio stations, just fuzzing sounds or white noise. Works great for us so we can get a good nights sleep.

In a perfect resort and world you go go to bed and not hear a thing but the breeze. Good luck with that though.

Although sometimes I have a hard time finding a dial location with no radio stations in bigger cities like Orlando. And sometimes I will set it correctly and a station drifts in a little overnight, so I wake up to mexican music (Not in Mexico). But most of the time this works.

You'd think with the polynesian theme maybe they would put ceiling fans in. That would help set the mood and your problem.

You sound like us! I have a small bag packed with things I always take every trip and our trip isn't til Sept!!!! But, I will say, starting so early, I've never forgotten anything (knock on wood!)

I am addicted to my fan/white noise at home so I bought a travel sound machine at Brookstone - it's worth every penny. It's very small, and very portable. If you buy batteries, you won't have to tote the power cord w/you - the cord is heavier than the actual machine. It is also a (alarm) clock. Even when I don't check luggage I bring it along. I'm a terrible sleeper, and wake up at every little noise - especially when traveling, and this thing works like a charm!

If you are staying cl and need something, the cm's are who you would talk to, but not sure they'd have a fan available.

I have never heard of anyone requesting a portable fan whether club or not. I suppose you could ask--not sure they would have these types of things though.

The Polynesian does have ceiling fans in its rooms--this might help a bit with your noise issues.

Honestly, my husband is a very light sleeper and with the ceiling fan running, he is rarely awakened by noise at night. Of course, there is always the occasional inconsiderate guest, but thankfully they are few and far between.

Question about the beds... there are 2 queen beds in each room right? Some of the pictures make the beds look small, which is why I'm asking. Also are the beds comfortable? When we stayed at the Contemporary in '07 they were very comfy, but then again the resort was just refurbished.

I agree. Once we started walking to TTC for Epcot monorail, we've never gone back

The Polynesian does have ceiling fans in its rooms--this might help a bit with your noise issues.

two*little*birds Poly is recently refurbished as well. Yes, they are Queens. And a daybed that is a twin size (or very close to it). I think the beds are very comfortable

I think the pattern on the bedspreads actually makes them look smaller in some photos b/c of the bands on either side running from top to bottom... Also the tall headboards!
