My cousin just asked this ques on another board about parents going with the children in the Neverland club, but she didn't include the ages.....she has a DD4 and a DS3....Do you think they would allow them to play with both of her kids during this time?

Since the parents need to be present during the 1pm - 4pm activites I don't think it would be a problem for both her kids to be there. I don't recall any age limit given for the kids activies in the Neverland Club during that time, only for the 4pm - 12am timeframe.

Hope that helps! Sorry I didn't answer earlier but i've been home all day with a nasty sinus infection. @%*@(%@(% trees!

Didn't I say that a couple posts back????:confused3 :confused3 :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I hope you feel better. DS2's allergies are really kicking in, too. Not fun.:sad2:

In the afternoon, I think it would be fine. I don't recall any age limits just that parents need to be present. Seaspray probably has the info posted on the first pages of the thread.

Thanks....I will be reading this whole thread again when it gets closer to my trip just to make sure I didn't miss anything about the POLY I just love this thread:goodvibes

Is this nightly? because I think the kids would like this but they're too young to sit thru the entire luau show. Speaking of hotel events, do they give you a sheet of the week's activities when you check in?

I believe the torchlighting ceremony is nightly, but not positive. You will receive a newspaper-like sheet that lists the daily activities, times and locations. That will list the torchlighting times, etc. In all the years I've stayed at the Polynesian, we have never been around for the ceremony :confused3 , not sure why--guess we were either eating, already gone for the evening, or getting ready to head out somewhere. We really should put this on our agenda for this year. :thumbsup2

I need your opinion Poly experts!

I have a Garden Room booked at the Poly for November. I am treating my parents for their 30th anniversary (mom & step-dad actually, but I consider him my "dad" since he's been raising me since I was 7). They haven't been to Disney in 26 years, have never stayed overnight let alone stayed onsite, so this is truly a dream vacation for them!

Should I splurge and switch to a Club Level room? I want my parents to feel very special and pampered on this trip, would Club Level do that? Are the Lagoon View Club Level rooms all spectacular, or do we risk getting a tree-blocked view from the Hawaii building? Will we be able to see the castle?

TIA for any and all opinions...

Hi!

I am not a Poly expert (yet) but I have stayed concierge at several Disney locations. Last August DH, DS and I treated my parents (mom and stepdad--but like you, I leave off the "step" part) to a trip to DL Anaheim for DM's 65th birthday. We stayed club level at the Grand Californian. They really *loved* it! My parents are rather conservative when it comes to spending money, so this trip was a real splurge for them. They loved the concierge lounge. And believe me, while I love DL and the club level at GCH, it is nothing compared to WDW club level. (I will qualify that by saying it is "different". I think DL may have more food offerings in the middle of the day and still give out individual bottles of water. So DL is great, don't get me wrong.).

My parents loved the breakfast being so convenient and having a beer in the lounge in the evening. At GCH they have nice tea sandwiches as a midday offering which they loved as well. I am sure the Poly has great stuff like that to make them feel pampered. And don't forget the evening cordials and desserts! :cloud9:

Anyway, to help answer your question, I think it depends on your parents. If they don't usually splurge on themselves I think the club level would be worth it. Either way I am sure they will have a blast! Kudos for being so sweet to them.

It looks like indeed you did. But at the time I was too drugged up and remembering I had to answer someone's question and posted rather than comb through and see if someone had responded. ;) Worst case scenario we wound up backing each other's responses up. :thumbsup2

Thanks to you and TDISFAMILY for the 'get well' vibes. It's supposed to rain her today and I couldn't be happier! That's one thing I love about the Poly--no 'blooming' trees! :lmao:

Ageed! I usually just scan "last page" if I've only got a minute and would have missed the answer to that if you hadn't posted. No harm in double answers. :thumbsup2 I'm always a fan on a second opinion.

So, you haven't had a lot of allergy problems at the Poly? My little guy's got horrid allergies!!

Joining this thread...
We've stayed at the Poly twice and LOVE it. (Previous visits - Dolphin, CSR, CR) We're hoping for another visit in February 2009.

I spoke with a Disney Travel CM the other day and she indicated that 2009 package prices would be available in June?

We just booked our summer vacation at the Poly ~ 11 days & 10 nights with the DxDP! Woo-hoo! :woohoo: I have always wanted to stay at this resort! I'm so excited! :yay:

Actually, I'm super excited beacuse this was almost the vacation that didn't happen. We were supposed to move this summer, but the job offer didn't come through, so we're staying put and spending our relocation money at WDW. That's one heck of a consolation prize!

Sorry about the job, but The Poly sure is quite a consolation prize! :woohoo: I will be anxiously waiting your great dining reviews.:cheer2:

Thanks John's Mom. It's terrible, but I stopped being sad about the job as soon as we decided to take a trip to WDW. That has to be a new level of Disney addiction. :rolleyes1

I'm definitely plan on writing a big ole' trip/ dining report for our August trip, and as soon as this semester is over (in about a week), I will try to put together a brief dining review for January. Until then classes to teach and papers to grade! :teacher:

Thanks to all for the great info on the Poly. This thread has certainly helped me plan! :goodvibes

We were the same way! Always busy around the time of the ceremony. Then one evening we finally caught it, wow what a show! What a talented person that is! (I don't know if they use different people on different days or not but I don't think too many people can do that!).

Definitely make a point to see it! It only lasts a few minutes.

My kids have been staying at the Polynesian since they were around the ages of those mentioned (the two oldest). . .they loved it then and continue to love the Polynesian and they are now 20 and 17! :thumbsup2 They have stayed at BC, YC, AKL, GF, POR, CBR, and ASMu, too. The Polynesian is their absolute favorite!

I hope the trip is magical in every way for your group and your special charges.

Thank you! She's already so excited about the trip to "Mickey's House" that there's no doubt it will be magical :goodvibes

Another big thumbs up here!! I think the Poly is the best resort with little ones, the transportation options are great - Monorail to both MK and Epcot. We went in 2007 and our kiddos were 2 (almost 3) and 4 (almost 5) - it was perfect. In addition, it is just a stunning resort, so peaceful and relaxing - a real refuge from the parks, gives you that "relaxed" feel as well. Sounds like this family may need that, too! The pool is great for little ones as it's zero entry, and the 5 and 6 y.o.'s may really enjoy the slide, my DS LOVED it. The beach is also a big hit, and depending on their bedtimes, the advantage of watching Wishes/EWP from the beach can be a big one!! A few times we all watched the EWP at 9, took the kids in for showers/PJ's and brought them back out (in PJ's) to watch Wishes, then straight to bed!!! And, again, the transportation is great. If the 2 y.o. naps (mine both did then), and you'll be returning to the room for that each day, the monorail makes that so easy. I'd say it's the perfect choice!! We're headed back in May 2009!!

Thanks - I've always wanted to stay there so I'm psyched that they're leaning towards the Poly  We may be headed there next May as well!

We haven't seen the Torchlighting Ceremony yet, either! I hope to see it next month, as long as I remember to plan it in!! :surfweb: LOL

I think one reason that we haven't happen to "catch it" is because it's performed in the front of the resort, and we usually aren't in the front of the resort. We usually either take the monorail from the second floor of the GCH, or we go to TTC for the Epcot monorail and buses.

I saw the video that was posted and I definitely think it's worth the few minutes of time, to see in person! :3dglasses
