Yep! I used to work in St. Charles! It's a nice area- downtown St. Charles is very quaint, with tons of little shops, boutiques, restaurants. There is a casino on the river. Lots of shopping, restuarants, malls close by- and it's close to the airport and maybe 20 minutes from downtown St. Louis. It's a very up-and-coming area.

I just got a great deal on a new comforter set on JCpenny- it was 139.99 and I got it for 59.99! :woohoo: AND free shipping. I also bought a Fiesta tablecloth for $16- not too shabby.

My bedroom needed a little pick-me-up.

Now, I am off to get ready to go out to dinner with my IL's and then we're grocery shopping.

Have fun at dinner Becky!! Thanks for the information! Great deal on the comforter.

Are there other towns that you would recommend? I am not 100% sure where the office is though!

Have fun at dinner, Becky! That's a great deal on the comforter and tablecloth. I'd love to get a new comforter for our bed. The cats have snagged ours so much with their claws it looks pretty ratty.

Actually, I'd love to totally repaint the bedroom, but a) it's way too much work for us to do ourselves and b) DH painted it as a surprise for me before we were married so that when I moved in one room would be "nice" for me. The only problem was that he thought he was getting the right colors, but the numbers were wrong, so it's sort of a dark mustard-y goldenrod on the walls and a deep red on the trim. Looks like a circus tent, frankly. It was supposed to be a pale golden yellow - more of a hint of yellow - with mahogany trim to make it look more like real wood (since he didn't have the time to strip off the paint and refinish the wood).

Oh well. He tried, and he worked hard to get it nice. So I live with it and try to tone down the circus effect of the paint.

Ugh. Owen is really feeling yucky today, but not so sick that he's lethargic. He's just sick enough to be a royal pain in the kiester. (now is that I-before-E in kiester or is that an exception? Spelling isn't my strong point...) Anyway, he's fussy and won't sleep, and then he's fussy because he hasn't slept. He's cranky and won't eat, and then he's cranky because he hasn't eaten. He's a snot faucet but he won't let me wipe his nose. He wants me near him, but doesn't want to snuggle. Wants me to hold him, but then he pushes me away. Wants Daddy, and then has to have me again. Screams for 45 minutes and won't be consoled, and then settles down with Blue's Clues. 10 minutes into BC and he's upset again. BLECH!
Thank goodness it's Saturday and DH is home!!!

We definitely won't make it to the party tomorrow. Owen is just way too much of a pill, and I know from other events with these friends that screaming children are whisked away by their mamas until they settle down, so it would end up being DH socializing (and he's not big on socializing for very long) while I walk Owen around and around a strange neighborhood until he's calm. Such a bummer, but we'll try to schedule some time to see them before she leaves for India to have the baby. (She'll go home to India with their 3yr. old son and have the baby in India and stay with her family until the baby is about 4 months old, and then she'll come back to the U.S. Her DH will come out to see her and stay for about a month after the baby is born.)

If only Owen would just go to sleep, I know he'd feel better. Poor bug, but he is wearing me out with all the crying!

Oh, and I thought this was cool!!!

They have Disney Resort-inspired bedding at JCPenny! Neat, huh?

Bedding

I so want to redecorate my bedroom now! I haven't ever liked my bedroom. I think one reason is that I have the same furniture that I've had since I was 6 years old. And then when we moved in I painted the walls this weird taupe color that has a purple tint to it, and then I got dark purple velvet drapes. Pair that with the unicorn painting over the bed and it looks like the room of a 12 year old girl...

Ash - I know it's not really funny but it sounded funny!! Your room that is. HOW WAS YOUR TEST?

Our room is a pit of mess. We can't seem to get organized in there so their piles of clean clothes and junk. Once it's cleaned up it's pretty nice. It has a two story wall so no paint, just too high, but the bedding is decent. It's brown and light blue with brown curtains. Nothing crazy but I got the whole set at the local LNT when it was going out of business for under $80 for the comforter cover, 4 or 5 pillows and two sets of sheets!!Oh and the dust ruffle of course!

Good morning ladies! Ugggggg....last night was not a good night with Brady-boy. DH and I were supposed to have a night out with some friends, so I drove Brady down to my parents house around 4:30. As soon as I pull into the driveway, he starts projectile vomiting EVERYWHERE in the car. :sad2: Poor kiddo....he just couldn't stop. He continued getting sick every 10-15 minutes until 2am. It was AWFUL. He was so lethargic and tired, his eyes were rolling back in his head. So scary. He finally was able to go to sleep around 2am, but kept coughing and gagging all night....I don't think there was anything left in him. He woke up this morning ok, and has been able to keep down a small amount of Pedialite, and is napping right now. But good god....it was a long night. Needless to say we didn't go out, and DH ended up driving down to my parents to help. When he gets up from his nap we are going to drive him home....hopefully he won't get sick in the car again. It's about a 40min drive....I just hope he makes it.

Bethany - Sorry to hear that Owen is still not feeling great either. Sick kids are no fun at all!

Becky - I just saw the Disney collection at JC Penney online a few days ago. I love the Grand Floridian one!! I told DH we should re-do our entire bedroom to that. He was like, ya...right.

Off to rest while Brady naps! Have a good Sunday everyone! :goodvibes

Aww poor Brady. I hope he feels better. Is there a tummy virus going around there? Alexander was like that a few months ago when he got the bug ... icky. I hope he sleeps and drinks he pedialyte today.

Poor sick babies. Poor mommies of sick babies. Hope everyone starts feeling better soon!

Dmickey- Collinsville and Edwardsville on the IL side, and O'Fallon IL are nice areas with not too long of a commute, plus close to things. On the MO side: Soulard is a neat neighborhood- it's kind of young and trendy; Clayton would be my pick (of course, because it's crazy expensive), Richmond Heights, Town and Country, Kirkwood, St. Charles, Creve Coeur, all nice areas. But, in St. Louis, nice areas are pricier areas. Rent can go from $700-$2200/month (depending on size, bedroom/bath #s, neighborhood, etc).

Oh, and the "circus" and "unicorn" bedrooms are cracking me up!

Caleb has a rough night too!! I think his tooth was bothering him. I knew when he went to bed too easily that we were going to have problems and we did. He was up for 2 hrs straight...i finally gave him more tyenol and baby orajel. He still is suffering from the sinus so I gave him more nose drops. Still would not go to sleep so DH feed him a bottle to get him to go back to sleep. He slept again until 7:30 where I gave him another bottle. He was soo fussy this morning. Nothing we did made him happy...i gave him more tyenol but couldn't give him the orajel then bc its only 4 times a day. I finally got him to take a nap around 10:30 and its nearly 12:30 and he still is not up. He has not eaten since 7:30 and he is typically your eat every 3 hr kid.

On the plus side: I finally organized Caleb's 0-3 mos clothes. I had nearly 2 plastic bins worth! Some of that is recieving blankets that I don't like to use and put away. But man he had a lot of clothes. and alot of it was hardly worn. I had my newphews clothes too and I mainly weeded out most of his clothing from Caleb's closet, so now I only have a few pieces of Jamesons clothes. I have decided that while it was nice to be able to use his clothes that from now on...Caleb is just going to wear his own clothes. There ended up being way too many that a lot of them never was worn and i realized i tend to work out of the clean clothes basket a lot( probably bc I couldn't put the clean clothes away--no room)...so the clothes he does wear gets worn alot. So...from now own...I am only buying soo many for him and that way it does not overtake his drawers and closet.

His room is actually almost all put together. The only thing that needs done in it now is for his name letters to be hung (bought them after he was born bc it matches his nursery theme) and he has two window seats that I want my mother inlaw to make padded cushins and some pillows for. I also have a bunch of stuffed animals to place along the window seats since it is a jungle safari type them (Zanzibar @ BRU)

Now my next goal is to get my old couches out of my dining room (which was not being used as that) and set up a desk for my scrapbooking and I want to bring my old toybox home (my grandpa made huge ones for my brother and I when we were little) and set up the dining room as a toy room bc I know we are not going to want him to have all his toys in his room since its upstairs and mainly he will play with all the toys downstairs where we can watch him and the dining room has a door so we can just shut the door when there is a mess or company over!

i better start getting Calebs lunch ready. I have a feeling he will be up soon and hungry...he gets soo mad when he is hungry...when he is hungry he wants it NOW!!

Hope you have a good rest of the weekend!

Kara - I am sorry Caleb had a rough night. It's so hard when they go through those phases. We have finally started getting adjusted to the time change here! For the last week he was going to be at 8pm but up at 3-4 wanting to be changed. He started soaking through his diapers again ... ARGH.

Last night I put a cloth diaper inside his regular night time diaper and it helped a lot. Our BRU is very sporadic with those diaper doubles and my mom thought of using the cloth ones!! So far so good and I have a bunch of those from when he was younger. He is still waking up around 3-4 but just talking to himself and then again at 6:30 but this morning he didn't actually wake up and want out of the crib until 9am. Same with yesterday!!! Still napping too!!

Two nights ago he woke up at 3:00 AM laughing and last night he woke up and said "Dada's Car" as clear as day and went back to sleep. That's his favorite phrase. I taught him it last week when we went up to WDW because we were driving DH's car. Now he has progressed to "Mama's Car", "Babu's Car" (We still aren't sure who Babu's is because we are the only two he has in his life with cars!! My mom and dad travel down here to visit so they don't have their cars here.). We have also gotten "Boo-boo hurt", "More Fish" (Wii Fishing game!) and Dada's Keys for two word phrases!! Yippy!!

Ash - I know it's not really funny but it sounded funny!! Your room that is. HOW WAS YOUR TEST?

Ummm... I don't know. It was really hard. I'm not sure if I passed or not. I have to wait 4 weeks to find out. When I was taking it I was just just like "holy crap, I am so failing this thing right now" but I finished early and went back and looked over my answers, changed 5 of them and then thought that maybe it wasn't so bad. I've looked up some of the stuff that I was unsure about when I got home and I chose the right answer, but it was all so random. I studied a lot of the major stuff like the American Revolution, The French Revolution, The American Civil War, Vietnam, The War of 1812, The French and Indian War, The Byzantine Empire, The Roman Empire, The Ottoman Empire, The Holy Roman Empire, The US Constitution, landmark supreme court cases, ect. But then we had some stuff I hadn't really prepared for like which lobe of the brain is involved with the sense of touch? I think I got that one wrong since I put temporal but I think that maybe it's another one. And we also had a question about attempting to talk with the dead which I thought was strange...

The second part of the test was essay and I think I did alright on it. My first question was about the election of 1860, and I had brushed up a lot on Lincoln and the Civil War so I think I did o.k. on that one, but then I had a graph for the economics portion that I had never seen before in my life. So I just kind of made up a bunch of stuff about it because I didn't want to leave it blank. I looked it up when I got home and I was sort of right with what I wrote so maybe I'll at least get some credit. I think the guy behind me said he left it blank. Almost everyone in there had taken the test before sometimes two and three times and they were still in college or had just gotten out of college, student teaching, ect. I've been out for 4 years, so If I DO pass, I'll be pretty proud of myself. If not I've decided that I will just keep trying.

:thumbsup2 That's what I like to hear!

OT- is it bad that my DH and Vaylie are sitting on the LR floor playing Grand Theft Auto together? :lmao: (She likes to hold the extra controller and "play" with Daddy- I told him you are really going to have to stop playing this in front of her before long- ).

That's like Ellery falling asleep on DH's lap the other day while he was listening to Cannibal Corpse.

Ash - Sounds good with the test! Can't wait to find out ... You studied hard and did the best that you could. What more can you ask for?

Becky - GTA, Nice!! Dh tends to watch some high drama/violence movies and looks at me for some scenes and says, we will probably have to stop that soon huh? Luckily his video game addiction is 90% sports and 10% Tom Clancy type games. DS runs to the video game controllers at Target all the time! So sad.

OK. So, I know I am plus-sized. I swear I am not in denial about this. BUT- why, oh why do all of the current trends in clothing conspire to make me look even FATTER than I really am?! Seriously?!

All these peasant blouses and tunics and shapeless baggy tops are making me crazy! :headache:

Becky - I don't think you are pooh sized. Just going by what I see on your facebook but you look similar in size to me and I consider myself, slightly chubby!! I agree with you about the clothes. They are horrible. I end up wearing the most frumpy, too big for me clothes because I am not comfortable in 95% of the styles out there and the ones that fit well are too dressy for a SAHM. Oh well ... I try and do my hair and makeup so I at least feel better even if my clothes suck!!

BTW - I think we have the same nose!!! Seriously, check out some of my fb pictures!

ETA: I just went back to look at some of Vaylie's b-day pictures!! Love the outfit she has on!! I wanted to tell you I think you look almost exactly like my Mom did at our age! It's actually kind of freaky. I'll try to get a picture of her on the computer from my dad and show you!

Hi All!

Becky, I am with you on the clothes. I am SO tired of trying to find something that looks decent. If you a tiny, the clothes still make you look pregnant, so it's 10x's worse when you are overweight. The thing that annoys me the most though are cap sleeves. I have big upper arms and I HATE the tiny little sleeves.

Kelly, I hope Brady is feeling better, poor little guy.

Ash, I hope you passed the test; it sounds tough.

Spencer loves video games too. He jumps up and down when he sees the Xbox logo on the TV. DH gave him an extra controller to play with. We are going to have to stop with the music and TV around him soon.
