We're considering this new hotel that is set to open in the fall. We are Marriott points holders, so that is the big appeal. I know the Fairfield is closer, but the Springhill will be brand spankin' new...we're going in January 2015. I like the fact that it's a hotel with an interior entry to the rooms, different than the Fairfield with the exterior doors. We'll have our 4-year old son with us, but also plan on taking a stroller. Is this hotel walkable? We'll be there in January, so off-peak hours, so we won't be walking late at night or anything like that. I don't know that they'll offer a shuttle. We won't have a car, so we don't have to worry about parking fees. Plus, the hotel offers breakfast. Seems like a no-brainer, just a little worried about the walk (safety, distance, convenience, etc).

We have the HoJo booked on standby, but if we can stay with points, it'll save us over $700 (5 nights).

I saw this hotel being built in May. Since you will have a stroller for your little one, I would say it is walkable. It is directly on the corner of Katella and Harbor. You would walk down Harbor past Candy Cane Inn and 7-11 and cross Katella to get to the hotel. If you stay, please come back and review the hotel :goodvibes

After looking at Google Maps, it definitely looks walkable....I think it's about .5 miles. Given all the walking we'll be doing in the parks, what's another half a mile?! ;) And it looks a lot closer than the Springhill on Ball Street. I know it's further, but I think I would prefer this over the other Marriott properties that are within walking distance. I guess I just need reassurance!

We stayed a the Hilton in May and walked by the Springhill suites. It is much closer than the Hilton! That was quite a trek to the Hilton. Plus, the Hilton itself is huge, so it took us forever just to get from our room to the elevator. I wouldn't consider the Hilton walking distance. $700 is a major chunk of change! I would try the new Sprighill suites. :goodvibes

Their is also a Marriott Courtyard Inn going up near the Mimi's and HoJo... I am excited for that too!!

Do you have a link for this hotel? I wonder if it'll be ready when we're there the last week of January. When I search for a Courtyard, the only option I can find is the one further down at 2045 Harbor, which is further down from the Springhill.

The walking distance and safety should not be a concern. The area is perfectly safe and filled with people going to and from the park at all times throughout the day and night. The walk will take you about 10 minutes or less down the sidewalk depending on how slow or fast you walk it.

Every little bit counts, and this is more than a half mile. It is over a half mile to the Candy Cane Inn and that is closer than this hotel (see http://www.mouseplanet.com/7280/How_Far_Is_It )

This will be a bit closer to three-quarters of a mile. Still walkable though.

I am planning on running my 1st 1/2 Marathon at the Tinkerbell 1/2 next May 2015 and booked at this hotel, I am excited that it will be walking distance to the start/finish line. I am using my Marriott Points to cover all but 1 night of my stay, and the 1 night I have to pay for is cheaper than paying to stay on DL property

I am so excited!!!:cheer2:pixiedust::cool1:
I just hope they have a good pool/Jacuzzi...:beach:

I am signed up for the Pixie Dust Challenge, 10k Saturday and 1/2 marathon on Sunday :tink:- will need lots of water therapy.

The new hotel will be about .5 miles to the ticket booths. We have stayed at the Fairfied Inn many times. Security has never been a problem.
You can watch the new hotel being build on the HOJO mattercam at hojoanaheim.com/take-a-tour/webcam

Good luck.

You sure can see it being built on the webcam, Cool! Cannot wait for this Courtyard to open!!
The Springhill Suites are new, but super $$$$ in my opinion! I shall wait for the new Courtyard, and I am sure it will have a Starbucks in the lobby, like all Marriott Courtyard Inn's do... Huge PLUS!!

Thanks for the webcam heads up!:flower3:
